its been a tough couple of days for pbr and his community as 2 local guys from pbr's junior h.s. and h.s. were killed in iraq. has the community reeling right now....both played football in h.s. in doylestown, pa. area and one went to johns hopkins and played football the other went to the naval academy. both officers and great leaders. such a waste of life and watching them bring the one coffin home at willow grove naval air station was heartbreaking. really makes you think sometimes whats important in life. both guys were in there mid 20s just a sad time here right now w/ candlelight ceremonies at night.

very sad news.  my condolences to you, the officers' families and the doylestown community.

Rev sound like Gunny Highway....."its a clusterf*ck sir!"

Reguhater brought up a good point, though.  The Rev really does need to watch his mouth in public and at work or else every one will think he is still a ramp rat (jet fuel-pumper) disguised as a worker bee.  And if that happens, The Rev will get sent back to pumping jet fuel.  A fun gig, but not appropriate once one gets his GED (in, in The Rev's case a BA from Hobart and an MS from ASU).

The Rev is being sent to a three-day Public Affairs school by the Coast Guard next month.  While there The Rev is going to have to learn how to give an interview in which he must not curse (or use any colorful language), may not tell the interviewer that he or she is an ignoramus for asking such a stupid question, and The Rev will also learn how to stand and deliver a speech without reaching down and "adjusting".

It's going to be a tough three days.

This weekend The Rev was at ISC San Pedro in LA Harbor for a Memorial Marker Service.  They played Taps on the bugle and then a lament on the bagpipes.  Taps was a rough one, but the lament on the pipes nearly brought the house down.

After all of the day's events were over the Rev drove to Oceanside to meet a girl he met a few weeks ago.  The night started off fine, but after a couple hours, The Rev got a bad vibe.  So they finished dinner and parted company cordially.

The next morning the girl called The Rev about meeting up for brunch.  The Rev was thinking of a way he could tell the girl that he just wanted to drive straight back to Phoenix and not waste anymore time with her when she threw him this:  "I don't know how to say this, but you remind me of my dad."

The Rev suddenly understood the bad vibe from the night before.  The Rev laughed, wished the girl well and headed straight back to PHX.

The Rev was not too upset.  Even in college girls told him that he reminded them of dad.  So, The Rev is used to it by now.  Oddly, no asian girl ever told the Rev that he reminds her of her dad.  The Rev is thinking that he made a mistake trying to go out with a white girl again (the first white girl since 1994).  Back to Asians. Ohhh so solly!

The good news is that The Rev had a killer burger at the Carl's Jr. in Quartzite, AZ.  It was the Bacon Western Cheeseburger.  Oh, it felt so good going down.

By the way, if you didn't realize it, Quartize is on the top 10 list of shizzitiest places on earth.  What a dump.  It may actually be worse than Gila Bend.

TGP, next time The Rev comes to LA harbor, he will give you a ring.

ZA's been out of service for some time and wishes everyone well.  ZA is now in Vegas permanently. The place was nuts last night with the fight.

Just in case this hasn't been posted yet...for all you country western fans...here's a great song on a very personal topic...

PBR...

bman spot on the pony picks....well done...pbr didnt think street sense would be able to close from 20 lengths back....not sure what he will have left in the tank in 2 weeks at the preakness but should be fun none the less...

PBR...

wtf?? pbr cannot believe what clemens signed for w/ the yanks....20+ million....seems like sports are becoming the hired gun. how great for clemens no spring training, no cold weather to pitch in just show up a quarter of the way into the season and make a million bucks per start basically a million bucks a week...ol' georgie never ceases to amaze me...

PBR

Bman did not think they would run Streetsense that way, and for obvious reasons that was a huge risk to do.  Am also amazed given the rail bias at Churchill all day on Sat, that other jockeys did not tuck down there as well.   The run Streetsense had was similar to Fusiachi Pegasus's run (on the outside) where he came from behind and just had another gear the others didn't, but I can not remember any Derby where anyone got a full run at the field, saving ground by burying the field on an open rail....

Nonetheless, Bman is very happy as he will be taking a trip to the IRS window today...

...but also bummed, because had Circular Quay been able to lug up to 4th, Bman would have hit the superfecta....

How great for the Red Sox.  Cashman should go get Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver while he's at it.  The Yankees USED to know how to run an organization, now their Daniel Snyder mentality is doing nothing but giving them an even HUGE'R' total salary.  Clemens is 44 years old.  I bet he's nasty against the D-Rays though...  I know I can't wait for the Sox to face him in Fenway...
