I appreciate that fact that evaluating and ranking 238 - D3 football teams is a daunting task.  After reading through this year's "Kickoff" coverage from D3.com, with a particular focus on the LL, I point out a couple of glaring inconsistencies:

-  Kickoff ranks RPI 38th, UofR 40th, Bart 45th and Union 48th which is certainly plausible given who is returning and who has graduated at each of the respective schools.

-  In the breakdown of overall and in-league records, Kickoff predicts the following for each team:  RPI - 8-1 (6-1), Bart - 8-2 (6-1), Union - 7-2 (5-2), UofR - 6-4 (4-3).  These records are also plausible given the talent and history of the respective schools.

However, the prediction of the individual school records for 2007 does not square with the national ranking and implies that the two were done independently of one another.

The 1-238 is done by Pat and myself, the record prediction is done by the individual writer previewing your conference, in this case Adam Samrov.

In an ideal world we would (and in some cases we do) go back and check and correct anything outlandish, but as it stands you get two separate opinions.

We have tried -- apparently unsuccessfully, are you are not the first to mention a discrepancy-- to make that information available by listing on the 1-238 page: "Teams were ranked by Pat Coleman and Keith McMillan of D3football.com" and on the conference preview page: "These team capsules were written by D3football.com staff and contributors. Records were projected by the writer and D3football.com staff."

But any suggestions on to how to make that more clear would be appreciated.

Will respond to the other half of this remark, mrs. PBR (not) and the other respectfully submitted questions later on. I got a post-work poker game to get to.

Props to those of you who went over the IBFC board to unleash on that fool. It was hilarious, good looking out.

U89, beware the fury of the flute.  In week 1, you're going to band camp.

'gro

my buddy is new at the fantasy foosball, and wants my help for his draft. 'Gro agreed to consult.  Question #1, how many teams in your league?  Six.

Six? How can you not have a good team?

What is it w/ these small towns that they feel the need to big time unsuspecting motorists? RT got a ticket (40 in a 25) in the North Country of NY a couple of months ago near Watertown. It was actually a state park policeman who nailed RT as he was leaving the grounds.

SPP:  Know why I stopped you?
RT: Uh...because I was on my cell phone?
SPP: No..but we can add that to the list.
DOHHH!!!!
RT: Ok, what then?
SPP: You were travelling at an excessive speed
RT: How the heck fast was I going?
SPP: 40 in a 25
RT: Are you serious? You stopped me for that?
SPP: This is a park. You could hit a camper or a child of a camper.
RT:  (RT looks around...he's at the exit of the park where it's deserted and no campsites or playgrounds within a 1/2 mile)
Uh...ok but there's no one around here
SPP: Would you rather i include the cell phone?
RT: Well sure if it means you drop the speeding ticket.
....ring up one speeding and cell ticket

So RT sends in his plea of not guilty. He gets the response...either accept the 4 point speeding ticket or take the plea of a 2point non-speed violation.  The question RT has is "do points on a non-speeding violation go to the insurance company??"

Regulator

RT- I can see why he got a little hot under the collar....just use some of that mojo on him and make him feel like he is the man, "no sir, yes sir, you are the man sir, that is how you roll sir"

Why would you be ANYWHERE near watertown, isn't that where the earth ends?  It's Science!

You are sitting there trying to match wits with someone who is itching to write up a kid on a bike for making too much noise!

actually, upon reflection, the entire affair could've ended right at the beginning had RT gone with the alternate ending.

SPP: Know why I stopped you?
RT: Because that's how you roll?

This would've shifted the mood into one of relaxed authority on SPP's part and he may have been less likely to exert townie muscle onto poor RT.

Reg...RT was up at  the 1000 islands. Said incident actually occurred on Wellesley Is. in the town of Fineview. Hopefully you have it on your calendar for 2008.

'gro

you gotta respect the authora-tah when you get pulled over... like reg said a little yes sir no sir has got gro out of a speeding ticket down I-88 and driving the wrong way down a one way skreet in boston.

it also helps when you are rediculasly good looking like gro is.

Senor RedTackle

gro...what's wrong w/ your pic? Cant see it

Yes it does. Points is points.  Problem is that you got the two-fer on the tickets.  You could battle one but not both. Take the two.  A one day safe driving class might get those point taken off, check with the DMV.

Knightstalker

The 2 point non-speeding violation might not be insurance points, just license points.  KS got one of those a couple of years ago for having a parking tag hanging from the mirror, better than the speeding ticket.
