Although my wife thinks I am a fruitcake I caught the Endicott scrimmage against Framingham State.. I am a fruitcake but that's another story.  Had to do a little scouting against RPI's next week opponent and my son had two high school teammates playing for Endicott.

As expected offenses were behind the defenses.  Neither team was very impressive... fairly even scrimmage which surprised me a bit as I had heard Endicott was a NEFC contender.  1s on 1s it a 14-7 game.  FS did run the ball fairly effectively and had two turnovers inside the 10 one which went for a 90+ yd interception return for a TD.  To be fair Endicott had 1 inside the 10 as well.  Endicott was small up front defensively.

Endicott corners were very succeptible to the go route.  FS must have had 4 or 5 passes +20 yards down the sidelines. safeties never got there to help over the top.  Also ran 3 or 4 effective inside WR screens.  If their secondary plays like this next week against RPI they will be in trouble.  Didn't see much of a running game.  Endicott did run a few effective screens.

Was hoping App St could have pulled off the upset in the big house.  Wonder what that would have paid in Vegas if you took the A's and the points?

Rolevio thinks TGP gave up on the game a  little too early.

TGP wasn't watching, just saw the last turnover on App St b/f my kids started to freak out (with an almost 3 and 1 yr old it happens a lot - especially on the weekends) and TGP had to turn off the TV to TCB.

DP caught the Dragons and the Pumpkin Heads scrimmage in Geneva today.  Couldn't beat the blue sky and low 70s!

Cortland did most of the scoring.  I think Hobart scored once (nice TD drive) with their first teamers.  It was a pretty good matchup, with both defenses looking way ahead of their offenses.

Hobart had a hard time moving the ball on the ground, but had some success with medium length route passes.  Cortland's offensive line struggled with a lot of penalities, and overall the offense just didn't seem in sync.

I think the early prediction from D3 of 7 wins for Cortland is a good first bet.  Hobart should be similar, with each team needing to improve to have legitimate NCAA hopes.  Both should be very dangerous in their own leagues however.

Thx for the info.  TGP believes Hobart's D will need to carry the team for the first couple of weeks until Strom gets comfortable and someone steps up at RB.  Knowing Coach Cragg, though, TGP is certain he kept most plays close to the vest.

Interesting re: CMU - either they are really good or Rocho really isn't.  Will be interesting to see how that game btw Bart and CMU goes down in a couple of weeks.

Believe the game was on the Big Ten network so unless you have satellite you probably couldn't anyway as I doubt any cable companies carry it outside the midwest.

Interesting indeed.  It looked like Rochester was building fast last season, then this.  Cannot remember last time CMU was truly a powerhouse, though they are almost always above average.

Another interesting score you probably caught - CNU upsets Rowan.  Would have to think Rowan is missing the Orihel days something fierce already.

You have to wonder why UR's star RB and WR were not playing and how much that hurt the offense.

While Orihel is/was a top notch quarterback, I can't put it all on this QB (when Orihel got injured it was this kid who took them to the semi-final against Mount Union), a couple of bad shot gun snaps, and it seemed like he didn't get a lot of time yesterday.  I'm talking about that extra .5 to one second.  He was getting hit as threw a bunch.  The oline is a veteran group.  And its always dangerous for a timing offense to play a good ball control team in its first game.

Rowan is a notoriously slow start.  Over the years the early contests have been close, they just haven't lost.  I had a feeling about yesterday.  They've got two weeks to fix things before Wilkes.  A few fans have sent me emails stating that some of the playing calling on offense was questionable too.

QB despartely needed?  U of R needs a mobile scrambling quarterback to go with that offense.  We miss Molisani - get rid of the 6 ft 3 footers, get small kid that can be a playmaker.
