exactly JU... it's not like they are a weak team...but still Michigan should have beat them at HOME... you seriously need to question Llyod carrs coaching abillitys

Right.  Michigan should have won the game.  But dont be suprised that by the end of the year Applacian St. is ranked higher than 8 Big Ten schools.  Carr should have gotten them more prepared.  1-AA teams have shocked 1-A teams more and more over the last 5 years.
UNH over Northwestern, Montana St over Colorado, Maine over Mississippi St.  And then easily the best team in 1-AA is App. St.

Just another reason why 1-a needs a playoff.

Quote from: Jonny Utah on September 04, 2007, 10:33:40 AMWhens the last time IC got to play an LL team at home?  I wont even look it up but Im going to say IC is probably like 25-0 against LL teams at home over the last 25 games.   In fact, has IC ever lost to an LL team at home?

JU is right.  The LL cannot win at Butterfield.

The Bombers haven't lost to a NYS private college on South Hill since 1983 (When former IC Offensive Coordinator Brian Angelicho quarterbacked the Larries to a W over Butterfield's Boys).

In the time since 1983 the Bombers are 48-0 against private NY colleges at home.  18 of those 48 wins have come against current members of the Liberty League (including 2 over Union...one in the playoffs).

We could make ourselves dizzy going around in circles on this one, but Union has a WINNING streak going against Ithaca......Ithaca has a LOSING streak going against Union.

IC has a longer home winning streak (at Ithaca) though.   (Im not dizzy yet)

Gro was just talking to his buddy about this at lunch. The bowl system is outdated, overpopulated (what are there 30 bowls? going to a bowl is almost as guarunteed as getting a hot dog and orange soda after a pop warner game) and completely unfair.  Where's the NCAA access equality?  Completely hypocritical that the NCAA would allow this BCS crap.

Solution.
16 teams: 11 conference AQ's, 5 at large bids. Higher seed hosts, championship game at a neutral site.  They could play around with the schedules (11 max reg season, maybe start earlier) and have the playoffs in December. New year's bowls would still go to whatever teams wanted another game.

Won't happen, Gro.  The only way you could get this idea to work is if you integrate the current bowls into the playoff structure -- i.e., the first round games for the East Region would be played at the X Bowl and the Y Bowl (insert your mid-tiered bowls here).  Then the second round would be played at the higher-tiered bowls, with the Championship being the equivalent of that mysterious 5th BCS Bowl introduced last year.  It's the only compromise that will work, based on what I've read and seen, based on the revenue issues surrounding bowls and Colleg Presidents.

New poll (thanks Guru for fixing the selections).  Let's see how it goes...

did gro and reg ever clank heads on the field? if so who ended up pancaked because pbr cant see that one ending at a stalemate pbr figures you 2 were still whompin on each other long after the whistle...and did LD ever get a good  crack back block on gro?

Never happened because we all were hanging with mr cooper on varsity.  But just like OJ, gro will be coming out with a book called "If I Did Snot-Bubble Reg, Here's How It Happened"

sneak peek...

...There I was, 5 yards off the ball grilling LewDogg like Mike Singletary. In the backfield was my nemesis Regulator at FB.  He always tips off the ISO play because a stream of urine runs down his leg during the cadence.  LD is going though his usual calls, which I don't understand because I don't speak masshole. The snap. Yup it's ISO. Here's comes the regulator charging forward like a rabid gerbil.  As I plant my inside shoulder into his chest, he folds. With no where to go, the RB is quickly stuffed by the other ILB.  Reg lays on the ground, gasping for air. He takes his helmet off.  Being the gentleman that I am, I help Reg out by taking off his blue camo bandana and wiping away the snot trail on his upper lip...
PBR-
A few weeks ago you had asked whether Gro and Reg ever had it out on the gridiron.....the answer was no....and then Gro went into fairy land with this crazy woulda, coulda, shoulda jibberish....

Today, with Reg needing a man check-up googled himself (also to make sure I haven't committed any crazy crimes in the last year that may show up.

Now, about Gro and Reg meeting....I bring forward some real world evidence- from the D3 previews ..."fullback Regu Lator, who lost only four yards on 98 carries last season"  Now, you tell Reg, Mr. Gro.....do you really think you are going to put a hit on this cat that 97 other dudes couldn't do?  Seriously?  (the 4 yard loss came in a game where the wrong guard pulled on a trap play leaving Reg and the defensive lineman fighting for the handoff)
Could you even get a jump off the line quick enough to reach the backfield before Reg blows you over?

But I guess in Gro's "fantasy land" anything is possible.  I will let the LLPP judge who is the hammer and who is the nail in this scenario.

They should have had two in 2001, and maybe even 2003 and 2005.

Right.  I think it could be done though.

16 teams.

First round games (8 games) at home fields.

Second round games (4 games) at bowls where the regional teams get the home sites (SEC at the Cirtus Bowl, Big 12 at the Cotton Bowl,)

Third round games (two games or final four) at the big guys.  (Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl)

Championship game in the Sugar Bowl and then rotate.

So if the Pac-10 team in the playoffs gets their second round game at the Fiesta Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl would then be the national championship game the next year.
