Jobless Claims = Market is getting TORCHED

Bernanke needs to step his game up on the 15th (or sooner)
The Rev is extremely Bearish because The Rev is convinced that the market fundamentals are not as strong as the talking heads tell us.

The dollar is being artificially propped up by the Chinese who don't want to take a bath in bad debt they have accumulated from us.  The U.S. pundits say they are maniplating the Yuan to keep it in parity with the dollar to keep their exports cheap.  I think they manipulate it to keep America fat, lazy and stupid...until they can get out of their debt holdings and fully develop other foreign markets--at which point they will float the Yuan, and we will watch the dollar tank like Wiemar Republic Deuchemarks.  We'll be using Benjamin Franklin's face to clean our bungs.

Releasing more dollars into the system doesn't just "free up credit" is makes the dollar worth less (worthless?).  Interest rates have been too low for too long, and the money supply has been too fast and loose for too long.  What we need is for someone to act responsibly and not cater to our fears.  Unfortunately our system is set up so that out government self-mutilates and then asks us to re-elect them for the great job they did slapping band-aids on the wounds they created.  Everything is short-term, no real vision of the future.

We need some tough times.  If Americans could endure some suffering in the short term, we can make it through as the market settles itself.  Unfortunately, the market won't be allowed to settle itself. The Gov't will intervene which means...more f-ups and more unintended consequences.  If we let the market correct itself, it may hurt now, but we'll be better off in the long term.

Keynes was dead wrong.  Marx was deadlier wrong.  Sadly, it seems like these are the only two a--clowns that American politicians seem follow.

The Rev's prediction?  DOOM. DOOM!  DOOM!!!

Listened to Cowherd on the drive in.  PSU is going to drill ND.  Clausen is too green to win in Happy Valley.

On a separate note, Hobart-Dickinson game notes are up:

that game tgp is interesting, pbr is actually very interested to see who comes out on top in that one....

labart96

Definitely.  In fact, TGP feels that Bart's season really rides on how they start off with Dickinson, CMU and RPI.  Could go 3-0 or 0-3.

TGP is sticking with his original 14-10 prediction.  Bart's O has enough weapons to get it done while TGP thinks Dickinson won last week on a couple of lucky plays and their D was able to hold on vs. a so-so GCC team.

Penn St a 17.5 point favorite???

I think PSU has turned the corner and will be a national force but I like ND and the points in this one.  In fact, this is one game where a longshot money line bet might come through.

labart96

No way.  PSU and -17+ are a lock.  Sorry, but ND's D was a joke last season and is even worse this year.

PSU WILL ROLL!!!!!   ND is starting the "golden boy" jimmy clausen a true freshmen in his first start (of course he is what 24 yrs old so freshmen is used lightly...) w/ 111,000+ of pbr's closest friends!!! the line should tell you something....PSU WILL CRUSH THEM!!!  Its a revenge game (big in determing the line) at home, joe's record in these games are huge in his favor. ND is very very young and going to take a lot of lumps this year...they easily could be 0-3 as they play michigan next week.

Im still not convinced.  After a 59-0 win over a nobody, and a 2006 season where they never really dominated anyone (including getting smacked by ND), I dont see them rolling over ND in this one.  The revenge factor is going to be big, but I think ND might have had some changes and big things ready for this week.

**I also see that Penn St has started a home and home against Syracuse in 2008/2009.  Thats a good rivalry comming back
