Garnet

Garnet tuned in late hoping to catch the archived footage and got lucky with a game delay.  It looks great.

The "Fighting Dutchmen" crap is a bunch of BS dreamed up by the 'club'.  The hockey team has been calling themselves the "Skating Dutchmen" for decades.  Officially both teams are Dutchmen.

Thanks..I thought all those years as the PA for the hoops teams I should have been saying Shooting Dutchmen..and soccer was Kicking Dutchmen..etc

[ SUPER: SALISBURY MANOR - 1730 ]

Noblewoman: What a splendid party! I do believe everyone of any importance in England is here tonight.

Nobleman: Who would miss a party given by Lord Salisbury?

Butler: [ waiting at the door for guests to arrive ] Lord and Lady Wilkinson!

Lord Worcestershire: A marvelous entertainment, Salisbury! These chopped steaks are terrific, especially with this delicious mushroom sauce.

Lord Salisbury: Thank you, Coming from you, Worcestershire, that certainly is a compliment. [ turns to his guests ] Lord and Lady Wilkinson, welcome!

Lord Worcestershire: Tell me, Wilkinson, what the deuce is the purpose of two swords?

Lord Wilkinson: It's simple, really. Let's say you're an an attacker. My first blade straightens you upright, while the second clips you neatly at the ankles.

Lady Wilkinson: And there's Lady Wilkinson, for attacking your opponent's underarms and legs!

Butler: The Earl of Sandwich!

Nobleman: Tell me, have you seen Lord Cardigan?

Noblewoman: I understand he was turned away at the door..

Nobleman: Lord Cardigan? Why in heaven's name?

Noblewoman: He wasn't properly attired. Evidently, he came in a sweater.

Nobleman: Odd. I saw Lord Ascot, and he got in..

Butler: The Duke and Duchess of Argyll!

Lord Worcestershire: You know, Sandwich.. were the Sandwich Islands named after you?

Earl of Sandwich: Oh, no. Everyone asks me that, but I'm afraid nothing has ever been named after a member of my family.

Servant: Excuse me, your Lordship, but would you care for one of Lord Salisbury's steaks?

Earl of Sandwich: Yes, I would. Would you bring it to me with a couple slices of pumpernickel, please?

Servant: Yes. [ steps away ]

Butler: Lord and Lady Fighting Dutchmen!

Lord Salisbury: Well, well, well.. I was just asking Lord Sandwich, "Where the devil are those Dutchmen?"

Lady Dutchman: Well, it has been impossible to get him out of his workshop! He has been working day and night.

Lord Salisbury: You, Dutchma? Well, I wasn't aware you dabbled in that sort of thing. What in heaven's name are you working on?

Lord Dutchman: Well, I would be happy to tell you.. but perhaps after you have finished eating.

Lord Salisbury: Well, here is Chambers right now. Would you like something to eat?

Lord Dutchman: We're not too hungry right now - just a plate of raw vegetables.

Lord Salisbury: Would you like some dresing with that?

Lady Dutchman: Just some vinegar and water, thank you.

Earl of Sandwich: Dutchman, how are you? I haven't seen you in the House of Lords in ages! Don't tell me for the first time in memory we are going to have a House of Parliament without a Dutchman?

Lord Dutchman: My dear Sandwich, Parliament has always had its share of Dutchmen, and it always will.

Lord Salisbury: Spoken like a true Dutchman. I have often heard the King speak of your family.. [ to Earl of Sandwich ] ..and of yours, as well: "Give me a Sandwich and a Dutchman, and there is nothing I cannot do."

Earl of Sandwich: Hear, hear!

Lord Salisbury: So, tell me, Dutchman.. when are you going to show us that invention of yours?

Earl of Sandwich: Yes, Dutchman, just what kind of an invention are you sitting on?

Lord Dutchman: Well, it's a long story. Why don't we go out to the garden, and I'll explain it to you.

Earl of Sandwich: Tell me - did Lady Dutchman help you in the project?

Lord Dutchman: Help? Why.. she was the inspiration!

[ they exit to the garden to discuss the wondrous invention ]

Butler: Lord Compost Heap and Lady Disinfectant Cake!

If you're still awake, you should be watching this USF Auburn game.

TGP smells an upset brewing.....

Finally got my first chance to comment on the tough loss today.  Sounds like we're lacking some necessary discipline, and as the saying goes "turnovers kill."  These are the kinds of losses that really hurt, but it's a perfect time for a kick in the butt to get them back on track.  Keep workin guys.  I can't wait to see the League opener against RPI.

but how has USF not scored... it's like auburn is the drunk girl at the party who loses her underwear and is just sitting there saying come do me...and USF is saying no thank you I want to wait for marriage....

p.s.  I've just taken two perocet and two bennadryl

and lots of times when schools have corny nicknames they will add stuff to it to make it cooler... at my high school we were the Rams... but for football we were the Rugged Rams and for basketball we were the Running Rams

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Perhaps it's BS, but if the school is willing to recognize it on the Web site then it must have at least enough legitimacy for it to be used on the air.

And it certainly answers your question as to where it came from.

Was somewhat encouraged when TGP saw that CMU had to come back against GCC like Dickinson did last week (although CMU seemed to do it the old fashioned way, while DC seemed to get lucky much like they did today vs. Bart....ok sour grapes....TGP is getting drunk on vino at the moment).  TGP believes Bart can rebound next week.  A lot of injuries and first game jitters lead to mistakes.  We'll get it back next weekend.

Wow

USF really just can't even buy a score.  5 Auburn turnovers and 0 pts?!?!!

Perhaps a 1-A record?

labart96

USF driving inside the Auburn 5.  Less than 1:30 to play.

BTW - funniest crowd shot TGP has ever seen when they pan to a USF guy wearing a wrestling singlet (no joke) scratching his junk on national tv.  classic.

I'm not sure the fact that it's late gives you license to be THAT corny  ;)

Anyway, Will the Union/Springfield game be archived to watch for future watching?
