P.S.  Tag's bro's collar has silver oak leaves, not silver bars.  (Give The Rev one more year and he should have a gold oak leaf (one step down from silver).  That is, if by then, The Rev hasn't been arrested and sent to Gitmo for tonight's posts.)

there isn't anything on the collar - the shoulders have 3 gold bars i believe

Three Gold Bars on the shoulder boards is the dress white or blue uniform.  Undress whites or Khakis will have an silver oak leaf on the collar.

Most of the guys KS knows that he served with and the members of his VFW post may night like what the Rev is saying but fought for the right for the rev to say it.

While the US is not perfect it is a great place to live still.  KS has been all over the world and we live better than people in most countries.

The Yanks late surge is cause for concern - not to mention the Sox losing so many close games of late.  Check out Eric Wilbur's blog from today (9/17) on NESN.  Very interesting stats.

TGP has also come to the conclusion that our line up (especially now with Manny and Youk out injured) is W-E-A-K.  Drew sucks - although it sounds like he has some family issues (his son is very sick) that could be distracting him.  Regardless, TGP would rather keep Ellsbury in the line up than JD at this stage.

The other issue is that our starting pitching and bullpen are beat down.  Beckett is great and even DK and Schill still have their moments, but Wake is done and Lester is too inexperienced to trust in the playoffs.  TGP would almost take Tavarez over Wake or Lester at this point.  Buchholz is a phenom for sure and ironically, is basically thrust into a playoff type scenario tomorrow.  The Sox really, really have to avoid getting swept by the Jays to avoid a full blown Back Bay panic attack from happening with less than 2 weeks to go in the season.

Loved seeing that hit from Ortiz again (never get tired of that), but those days are over.  Ortiz (and probably the Sox medical staff for not figuring it out sooner) blew it by not getting his knee scoped last off-season.  Don't tell TGP that having a torn whatever isn't effecting his power.

Honestly if the Sox are going to hold onto the Division and home field leads they need this lineup:

Ells, Pedro, Papi, Manny, Lowell, Youk, Tek, Crisp and Lugo

Ok.  Enough Sox.

Here's this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show:

The Rev will try to take it easy on them, but TGP knows how excitable The Rev gets.  The Rev smells patchouli mixed with scent of unwashed hippy hair and goes ballistic.

The Rev will try to focus on the game.
RPI has cheerleaders.
If The Rev senses himself getting wound up, he will gaze upon their pert mammary glands and know that God is good.

Never mind.  The Rev went looking for RPI cheerleader photos to tie to this post, and the girls all looked like kids.  Sickening.
Note to RPI: please make sure all cheerleaders have hit puberty before matriculation.

Yea REG,  they are rediculasly comfortable, stylish, handmade, and great customer service outside of Milwaukee.  Allen-Edmonds are one of those products that rarely if ever go on sale.  Similiar to Bose, Apple, BMWs, etc.  This is usually the sign of a top-notch product.  Only time I've ever seen them marked down was at Nordstrom's once.

The LLPP knows and obviously follows the old adage "You get what you pay for"

Allen-Edmonds are top drawer footwear.  They are actually too good for The Rev.
Instead, The Rev wears Eccos, which are pretty darn good, but not up to A-E's level.
Being a minor bureaucrat, even the Eccos are kind of over-kill.

What ever happened to Thom McKan and Hushpuppies?
(Come to think of it, I'm so low on the totem pole, even they are too good for me.  The Rev should probably go bare foot.)

Revuhator-
Damn dood, why all of this pent up hate towards the gov't and they way we handle things?  Is that what they are teaching you cats at Hobart?

While I appreciate your knowledge on politics and the fact you think it's a big deal that you almost got locked up in jail because of a freaking book, the I don't agree with the rant you went on about how people wearing uniforms, politicians and the Rev, wearing a TSA uniform could have abused his rights?  Like what, making people throw their bagels out before they got on a plane?

And what is up with the rant about FMJU??... Maybe she is living for free bc JU let's her?

Are you ok Rev?  (seriously)

KS thinks the Rev could use himself some female companionship.  That or a lot of mootmar.  (Hindi word for self manipulation)  KS has been learning a lot of hindi words from his co-workers.

Rev......

---"He was well-behaved until the police grabbed him."

In any political type setting like this, security (Kerry's private and the private one that Im sure the school hired for a US Senator) and campus police have guidelines as to what they will and will not allow at this type of event.  Now allthough he wasn't committing any serious crime, he was starting to cause a disturbance in a setting where it didnt belong.  It was clear that he was just being disrespectfull and he said what he needed to say.  So the police are telling him to go (in what Im assuming where they were told by civilian administrators).  What, do you let this kid stand up for as long as he wants?  No.  He was asked to leave and he refused.  Now, the cops grabbed his arm and started to escort him out of the building.  Now, the kid resists and attempts to flee.  What if the cops let him go and he charged the stage?

---"What was he being arrested for, asking John Kerry a question he didn't want asked?"

He wasn't being arrested at first, he was being escorted out of the building untill he resisted arrest and then assaulted the police.

---"I thought this was America?  We're supposed to be allowed to say whatever we want, even if--especially if!--it makes politicians squirm."

There are still rules at this forum on speaking.  If the moderator tells you are done speaking and you continue to yell, you will be asked to leave.  If you dont leave, you will be escorted out by the police.

---"And seriously, what threat did this kid pose, and what crime did he commit until he resisted being arrested for an unspecified crime?"

Again, he didnt pose any threat, but he was asked to leave by the authorities and he refused.  Then he resisted arrest, theres your crime.

---"Perhaps Kerry could have shown some class and told the police to back of and then answer the question"

Rev, how long to you let that kid talk?  Then what do you do when he doesnt?

Come on Rev, you should know that some public places things are acceptable while others the private rights of citizens are limited for security reasons?  What if someone wanted to protest in an airport by the security checkpoints that the security is racist against middle eastern people?  You know and I know it wouldnt be allowed becasue the safety of the public as a whole depends on the suspension of some freedoms at certain places and times.

Quote from: Jonny Utah on September 18, 2007, 09:26:13 PMWell let me throw this out there to LLPP......

So JU and his GF (JUGF) have been living together for a while now.  Now we get along pretty well and everything BUT....JU pays 100% of the mortgage/bills/utilities/everything.  Now I make 2-3X as much as her (3rd year teacher) so I dont really mind that too much.  But my question is this....

Do I have the right to do a little less housework (cooking/cleaning/laundry) because I contribute more (all) of the money?  And its not just the money really.  I work sometimes 10-40 extra hours a week (50-80 total hours including nights and weekends) to almost double my salary just to even be able to do that extra stuff.

Every time she yells at me to pick up a dish or plate that I leave out, I feel like saying "ok toots......We will start splitting the bills, and Im going to be able to afford a butler that will take care of that stuff ok?" (that would not go well by the way)

But seriously...how do I win here?

JU,

You know that you are going to 'lose' no matter what, so what you do depends on how you roll.

1.  JUGF should be paying 1/2 of all household expenses.  Her income in relation to yours doesn't matter.  In this post-Feminist JUGF has NO excuse for not fronting 50% of mortgage, food and utilities/services.

JU should be paying 100% of his own credit cards and JUGF 100% of her own credit cards.  Same goes for student loans, car loans, etc.  JU could be a good guy and pay for all of the beer.  JUGF pays for wine coolers.

2. You paying for everything amounts to thinly vield prostitution.

3.  You, being the paying customer, don't need to do squat.  Sit on your azzizza, drink beer, belch, leave dirty plates all over the place, scratch your balls and receive sex at your request.  That's what you're paying her for.

If not, then she needs to pitch in.

JU, put your pimp hand down.  50%, put up or shut up.

This is a good test.  Does JUGF love JU for JU? or does she love living with JU because it's free?

Well its my house, and I have a feeling that when we get married, I want to make sure it stays my house.  I dont mind paying the bills but a teacher cannot afford to live in boston and pay what Im paying.

(Im getting a small feeling that the Rev has never lived with a woman...not a bad thing by the way)

'gro

Gro's calling a TO on the Politics.  Politics are only going to make the mild mannered inhabitants of LLPPville transform into the infected from 28 days later.

Anyhow... there's a Cat Turd to be won this weekend.  Where's the football chatter? We all know that RPI hasn't beat Hobart since the miracle on '86 Field in 2001. (Coaches, are you reading this... that play needs to go on youtube, ASAP. Thanks in advance). The engineers haven't won on the Sloppy Boz since 1998.  Gro remembers that game, you guys had a very good tailback (brandon jackson? johnson?).

While Gro's point is well taken regarding the discussion of football, I just thought I'd chime in and say that I enjoy lurking around the LLPP's discussion of politics.  Last night's first amendment debate was especially interesting.  +k to all involved.

Since LLPP is also often a forum to discuss high finance.  I imagine you financiers will enjoy this little tidbit of sharp financial reporting from today's Tampa Tribune:

"TAMPA - Florida's foreclosure activity jumped 77 percent in August, compared with July, boosting its foreclosure rate to the third highest among all states. It was even worse in Tampa Bay, where foreclosure filings more than doubled. Both are further signs that homeowners are having trouble paying their mortgages and selling their homes amid a national housing slump."

Apparently, foreclosures are evidence that people can't pay their mortgages...who knew?

SATURDAY'S FOOTBALL GAME TO BE TELEVISED
Engineers' league opener at Hobart to be shown on tape delay

TROY, N.Y. – This Saturday's Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football game at Liberty League rival Hobart College will be televised on Time Warner Cable's local sports channel, Time Warner Sports, Channel 3 in most areas.  The game, which kicks off at 1pm from Boswell Field, will be shown on a tape delay basis beginning at 3:30pm.

Saturday's game, the Liberty League opener for both teams, will also be broadcast live on the radio on WRPI, 91.5 FM, and the Internet at http://www.wrpi.org/.  Kurt Stutt and Bob Conway will provide the play-by-play and color commentary, respectively.  There will also be a live webcast on a pay-per-view basis at http://www.ecac.tv/ and fans can track official statistics at http://campus.hws.edu/athletics/hobart/football/live/xlive.htm.

Rensselaer is off to a 2-0 start, having won each of its first two games at home.  Hobart is 1-1, including a win over nationally-ranked Carnegie Mellon at home last Saturday.  The Engineers and Statesmen have played 50 times in their history, with Rensselaer holding a 25-24-1 edge in the all-time series.  Hobart has won each of the last five meetings, including the most recent matchup in Geneva, 56-48, in triple overtime.

jose...fyi fed dropped overnight lending rate 50 basis points yesterday people hammered the long bond which together will drive mortgage rates down allowing people to refinance and lock in at much lower rates reducing their payments thus delinquencies/foreclosures etc...

PBR, While I understand the drive down in rates, how much is this really going to help people?  That is, if they are having a hard time paying, I don't know $2000 a month for a mortgage, how much is a point off their interest rate going to help?

Those that are really in trouble are the people that took all the crazy interest only w/ no down payment loans hoping the house would gain enough equity in order to flip it in 5 years....well....that didn't happen.  Pay up little man.
