OK - A buddy of mine works for a  Radio Station in Rochester.  Last night they sponsored a concert with Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath with Ronnie Dio and others.  These pics are from the show.  Look at the lower right of the pic.

thats right.  One fan was so into the show, he removed his prostetic leg and was waving it around.  There is no pic, but he even was hitting the beach balls in the crowd with it.

I just knew I had to share with LLPP...

Has the sheer panic ensued in the Back Bay yet??  Would this be worse than the collapse of '78 and Bucky Bleepin Dent??

It's getting there.  TGP has noticed Francoma has started to downplay the division race and his only talking about October.  Makes sense on one hand, since TGP would rather see the Sox as the 2007 WS Champs vs. the AL East Champs.

At least we have the following starts coming up which should help us out:

Today - off day (needed to regroup, you think?)
Friday - Beckett (which is great b/c the stinky Sox offense has to go up against Kazmir)
Sat - DK (0-3 vs. the D-Rays, but should be due for a win)
Sun - Wake (although beat up seems to be magic at the Trop)
Mon - Off
Tues - Schill vs. A's
Weds - Lester vs. A's (Jester should be 5-0 if not for Gagme.  Overall that kid is 11-2 in 20 something big league starts)

One of the greatest expression in sports.  Really, sports is the only arena in life where continued failure means is evidence of forthcoming success.

As for Wakefield, I worked two near no-hitters he threw at the Trop.

And they finish out the season with four at the Fens against the Twins, who thankfully aren't playing for anything meaningful this year because they aren't making a mad dash push for the playoffs like in the past.
I think despite the latest problems, the Sox could finish 6-3 or 7-2 in the last 9 and still finish first. But someone's got to beat those G-D Spankees.

Stick a fork in it - I've lost confidence in Francoma to even get these guys fired up enough not to lose the final 13 games of the year.

Ahh ya know what, Francona has lost maybe 5 games for the sox this year.  But I still think hes looking at the long run.  They still have basically clinched the playoffs, and he has to test some pitchers and players out still to see if they can help them where it matters the most and thats the playoffs.  And lets not forget that the yankees lineup (7 of 9 starters bought) are better than the (5 of 9 starters bought) that the redsox have.

Yankees Starters:
Damon- FA
Jeter_ Farm System (FS)
Abreu- FA
Rodriquez- Trade
Giambi/meintkzciz sp FA
Posada-FS
Cabrera-FS
Cano-FS
Matsui-FA

By my count the Yanks also have 5 "bought" starters.
And four of the five best players are homegrown players.

I was including players that those teams could afford that 90% of the time might have gone to FA one other teams. But I will revisit with my opinions.

Sox
1-Pedroia- HG
2-Ellsbury- HG (Now I could include a bought JD Drew here, but Drew will be losing that spot)
3-Ortiz- Bought (even though it was a cheap trade, the sox can now afford to pay the big bucks for him)
4-Ramirex- (100% bought)
5-Lowell- Bought (Actually a trade, but Lowell is paid 9M and was basically bought by the sox)
6-Crisp-Trade (fair trade, and not overpaid or bought)
7-Varitek-bought(actually gotten in a trade too, but is now way overpaid)
8-Youkilis-HG
9-Lugo- (100% bought)

So the sox have....

3 homegrown starters that they should be given credit for and are not paid like only the sox or yankees could do.
3 players they traded for but have the money to keep.
1 player they got even value in a trade for.
2 players that are 100% bought.

Yankees

1-Damon (100% bought)
2-Jeter HG (tough one because he is a hall of famer and paid like one although 75% of other teams couldnt pay him)
3-Giambi (100% bought)
4-Abreu (100% bought)
5-A-Rod Trade (but this guy is basically 100% bought)
6-Posada HG (but overpaid and other teams besides sox couldnt afford him
7-Matsui (100% bought with other teams not even albe to talk to him!)
8-Cano HG
9-Cabrera HG

So the Yankees have

2 players that are HG that any team could afford give credit for them
2 players (Jeter and Posada that are home grown but paid like no other team could afford besides the sox)
4 players that are 100% bought
1 player (A-rod) that is basically 100% bought

Lew, I still can't believe that deal for Gagme... can you Imagine how good boston would be if they still had Kason Gabard

The sox wouldnt be any better with Gabbard, but they can afford to realize their mistakes and will fix them next year. (Drew, Lugo, Gagne)  Pay them and send them on their way in a trade for a good player.

And Im looking at these salaries and its making me sick..........

Drew- 14.4 million
Gagne- 6 million
Lugo 8.2 million
Hinske- 5.7 million

Pedroia- $380,000
Youkilis- $425,000
Papelbon- $425,000
Lester- $384,000

KS will agree with the exception being KS does not think Posada is overpaid, he, ARod and Jeter carried the team for most of the season while everyone else got straightened out.  I will agree that other teams besides Sox, Mets, Cubs and possibly Dodgers could not afford him.

Yea hes kind of like Manny.  Not really worth that kind of money, but plays like it more than all of these other guys (Varitek, Abreu, Giambi)

Knightstalker

Come playoffs you Varitek and Posada behind the plate running your pitchers though, that is where a lot of their value still is.

Yea but the last two years, Varitek has been an absolute horrible hitter (.238 last year and .250 this year).  I don't know how many more years they can put up with that in an already horrible lineup.
