By the way, not one single board regular here has the right to complain about any topic someone else chooses to bring up. You guys have talked less on-topic than any board on the site. Live with it.

I'm not against going off topic, I just don't like this topic.  It's not like me or anyone complaining about the topic is actually going to stop it from being discussed.

[I do not know much about sailboats, except for they are usually the people yelling, pointing, and giving one fingered salutes to most power boaters.  Regs response "get a bigger boat if you don't like my wake"  I doubt they can hear me, but it makes me feel like a real mans man yelling back.

Are you prepared to do 7 knots.....everywhere?  Reg hates no wake zones....almost as much as he hates pants.

If The Rev takes future sailboat to Lake Roosevelt, he will have few if any problems with power boaters.  There's a lot of respect on Roosevelt.
On the other hand, if The Rev took said sailboat on Saguero Lake, then The Rev will die when one of Arizona's many morons drives right through Rev's boat with the cigar racer said moron bought to make up for his toothpick-sized dong.

By the way, The Rev is looking for a day sailer.  Something very simple like a small 14~18' Catalina.

Friendly reminder from U.S. Coast Guard:
Reguboater can be held liable for any damage caused by his wake, even if not in a no-wake zone.

We'll either go much larger to a 35'+ or smaller to a single engine express cruiser.

Boat resale values are the worst they have ever been...if you can even sell a boat in this market.  New boat sales are terrible and used boat sales are even worse, which significantly drives down price if you want to actually sell.  Reg isn't in too big of a hurry, however gets bored with stuff to easy. (hence the 6 boats in 4 years)

Resale:
As an example, if you paid $125k for a boat in 2003, it would probably be worth $70 if you sold it now.  Is that as good as cars?  Bottom line, boaters are idiots....they get in way too far over there heads and think they are doing themselves justice by upgrading and taking a longer note against the next boat when the dealer gives them a good deal for their boat as a trade...."Hey dood, eventually you being upside down is going to catch up with you!!"  You have a $200k note you have to pay off on a boat you can sell for $130K....do you even have the money to satisfy the note if you need to sell?

Reg is very flexible with what kind of boat we end up with....probably end up with the boat that fits into the "kick the seller in the nuts" deal.

Reg, are your familiar with sail boat prices?
The Rev is thinking about the sailboat route.
(Yes, we can sail in Arizona.)

I do not know much about sailboats, except for they are usually the people yelling, pointing, and giving one fingered salutes to most power boaters.  Regs response "get a bigger boat if you don't like my wake"  I doubt they can hear me, but it makes me feel like a real mans man yelling back.

Actually, before you start looking at prices you have to figure out how you are going to use it.  Do you need an engine, is a daysailor (cheapest) adequate for your needs?  What amenities on board do you need, etc.  If Reg were to ever do a blow boat, ...nah Ill stop right there....not going to happen.

Are you prepared to do 7 knots.....everywhere?  Reg hates no wake zones....almost as much as he hates pants.

Reg, don't sell that boat.  LD just sent me pics of you and MFReg in the bay this summer.  Way to cute to sell.

Yeah I guess they have to post that crap here since the LSFFFJTWTDB* started banning members for talking about the lamest, most over discussed topics ever when referring to the Yanks.

I dont think theres anything more boring than when people talk about their fantasy baseball team to you.  Especially when they are like "check out my lineup...I have *** at second, I have &&& at third, and then I traded $$$ for %%%........"  Fantasy football talk can be tough too when you arent in the same league as the person...

I highly doubt anyone could prove that a boat is damaged by someones wake. (not counting at marinas)  If you have ever heard of somone winning a case because of a wake let me know.  It's not like I am throwing 6 footers at these guys....we are only talking 2 feet.   Either way, these are people that want to boat in narrow channels all day and expect people to drop off plane or something to get around them.....plus for some reason around here, these sailboat guys are just plain miserable!

(That is the type of joke a NYY fan would tell and then the RS fan would get all pissed and then the NYY fan would bring up XX championships, then the RS fan would say hey where are you in the standings right now, oh well you have more money than everyone, oh well you buy your team, oh who beat you for the championship last, oh well...nice fanny pack, ETC, ETC, ETC...

The Rev doesn't know of anyone who has been nailed for causing wake damage.  The Rev has no idea what it's like boating on the coast.  Everything Rev does is Inland...Colorado River lakes, and Salt River lakes.  Our Lakes are basically where the dams have pooled water.

The Rev gets loads of No-Wake zone violators in his boating safety classes each month.  If they come to Rev's class, they take certificate back to the judge and get a reduction in fine or something.  Attendees also get a 10% discount on isurance for taking the course.  Not bad.  Depending on the boat, it would be a lt of money saved.

P.S. The Rev will do his best not to be a miserable sailor.

Very similar to how conversations go in the E8 Nation between IC & Fisher folks.

The Chesapeake is for the most part inland.....it's big, but definately not Ocean. and a bad day out here is 4-5' chop.

Thanks for being one of the friendly guys.

here is a USCG question for you- if a person is sailing a hobie cat and is completely bombed, can he be ticketed?  I guess yes, since it is Boating while intoxicated...right?

Pssst- Reg never turns on his VHF anymore.....Isn't that a law too?

Reg,

Are you getting a Ciggie boat?  There are lots of them here.  I am with the Rev.  These doods have Small Mans Syndrome.  TDT can hear these clowns for miles and miles along the beach.

No way- it will be an express (like I have now)

or a sport bridge (if MR gets her way)

Why does U89 think Reg = Rodney Dangerfield in 'Caddy Shack' out on his boat?  Big wakes and anchors through sail boats included.......

Touchdown Tommy

REG: Are you gung-ho on SeaRays?  TDT sees just about every brand/make/model on the market down here.  Anything from backwater 16 fters to 30+ cruisers like yours, to sweet Grady-White center consoles, to mega Yachts meant to cruise the Globe.  TDT is pretty in tune with the market and will be here at your leisure to answer questions.

Does Reg usually buy new?  or Craigslist for a used product?  Man boats are as bad or worse than cars for the instant kick in the shorts (instead of when you take it off the lot, it is when it hits the water in this case).

BTW: WTF...TDT has held Reg's business acumen in high regard til this latest development regarding selling the cruiser.  Reg, are you kidding me?  Is MR influencing this decision heavily?  Come on dood, you gotta sell in the Spring when every water jockey wants the sweetest whip to impress his trophy wife on the Chesapeake!  It is science baby!!!
