Friday night I booked 2 rooms at the Franklin- 1 for me - 1 for you (since you need to call them to make a reservation and they only had 3 rooms left on Friday)

there werent any available for Saturday so I booked one for myself at the Best western as a backup. (should one at the Franklin not open up)

the only thing you would need to book is a room on Saturday at the Best western OR a room at the Best westen for Friday and Saturday if you don't want to stay at the Franklin.

Ya heard?

What and Where is the Franklin inn?

Looks like RT is making his 2nd TV appearance this weekend with the Hobart game.

RE: Shooz Game

When do we book flights? Rental Cars? Hotel Rooms?  TDT was doing some recognizance earlier today.  Prices look very reasonable for flights/car/hotel.  Will there be shenanigans on Friday night at The Ruck??

TDT may as well book flights now....earlier the cheaper. We can try to fire some things up at the Ruck but RT may be more interested in elevating above the college crowd and looking to get closer to Albany or if it has to be Troy, then Brown's Brewing Co.

RT would suggest something by the aiport...like the Hampton Inn on Wolf Rd or if you insist on staying in Troy, then the Franklin Plaza in or the Best Western

RT,
With your stellar advice as of late, why would you drop this garbage recomendation on TDT?
Why would you want to have to drive or cab back to wolf road or Albany?

What is the name of that hotel in DT Troy that was really nice?  Reg is DEFINATELY staying there as opposed to the dump known as the "Best Western Rensselaer Inn".
TDT, Reg is driving in Friday or Saturday and staying in Troy.  LD11- are we doing the same trip we did last time or do you want to bit the bullet and stay in Troy on Firday.  What time can you get here by?

Gro, are you getting in on Friday and staying with the parents or do you want to hit up Troy?

What about the Troy pub & Brewery?

TDT, what is your ETA?

A-hole Reg,

Go back and reread RT's post. RT suggested Troy (Franklin Plaza hotel) as an option....better bar there is the Brown (Former Troy) Brew Pub. RT suggested Albany as an option. It's a $20 cab ride..thought you could swing that, big man.

RT would love to host in 'Toga but that is about a 25 min drive to troy...

It's the old Super 8...over by the Green Island bridge.

What about blowing up O'leary's on Fri night? TDT may want some action so The Ruck will be full of college filth. There's an Irish Pub next to the Troy Brewing Co that is always mobbed on weekend's whenever RT swings by.

RT may end up getting a room instead of driving the 30 min

I believe it is an old, old wooden ship

Nah nah, it is a nice hotel like 4 blocks from the Best western.  When I say nice I mean, anything other than having to walk around in shoes for fear of catching something.

oh..and by the way TDT...this is going to be nothing like Collegeville. RT loved that bar that had 4 or 5 bars in one big building. RT and Applejack got blotto and barely made it back. We hijacked a pizza delivery guy and gave him $20 to get us back because we didn't want to be one of the 1500 people waiting for a cab in the street in 10 degree weather at 2am. RT has pics of the pizza guy to prove it!!!

RT,
We can literally do whatever we want on Friday.....Olearys, Ruck (although consuming 2 days worth of Ruck wings is said to be hazzardous to your health), Brown brew pub, etc.

Man the beer at Browns is delicious.  I think gros favorite comes with a cherry in it.

ok..then RT suggests the Brown Brew Pub and the Irish Pub next door...whatever order works. RT makes no guarantees on if he ends up at the Ruck on Fri night. Although, RT always likes to feel like a big wheel by walking into a college bar with some fine threads on, dropping a $100 bill on the bar, and offering college girls jobs that RT doesnt have

REG;

TDT went and looked up the Franklin.  Simply sparkling reviews.  Still waiting for the lists of the virtues of Troy.

RT; TDT will split a room (2 beds obviously and the offer stands for any member of the LLPP in good standing who'd like to split the room cost) with ya in Troy.  Let me know.  I don't stink, but I can't guarantee I won't be bringing home one of Troy's finest floozies to the room.  The story of hailing the Papa John's man in St. Cloud is best shared over multiple Car Bombs on Fri night/Sat morn.  TDT had an inkling that Troy is a bit different than Collegeville.  The full report from this trip will be on www.johnniefootball.com following the weekend.

Is Brown's a microbrewery/bar?

Yes..Brown's is a brew pub. http://brownsbrewing.com/

How much is the room? RT may end up splitting it w/ you so RT doesn't have to drive 25 miles back to Saratoga hammered at 3am. It's all interstate but with RT's luck, he'll get nailed in the 2 miles before or after he gets on/off the highway. Depending on the cost, even if RT doesn't stay, he'll cover his half to not leave you hanging.

TDT...we may give you a 5 min slot during the pregame show on-air that Frank and RT do. RT would like TDT to give the fans of Union/RPI some perspective on football out in your conference and what the final 4 game was like in 03 (if Frank doesnt mind)

You wild and crazy guys might want to look into the Best Western on Wolf Road as well, seconds from the Airport, 10 minutes from Albany and 10 minutes from Troy. I believe Thursday is Ladies Night, sounds like you might be able to do some Trollin' in that area...

Is Brown's a microbrewery/bar?

Yes, they are a microbrewery/ restaurant....simply delicious food (alot of sandwiches, etc)...usually cater to the older crowd (e.g. RT).
The only place Reg knows of that has college age kids is the Ruck.  Other then that, every place Reg went when he was in school has been shut down....I think.

What is there to do in Schenectady immediately after the game if we want to chill with some of the U89's of the world?

Gepetto's is the Union version of the Ruck. When RT was a junior, he went over there after a game and saw the stud starting LB, Marco Lainez, pour a pitcher of beer over their coach, Don Faulstick's, head in fun...yes, the same Coach Faulstick who did a stint at RPI and now is OC at Amherst.

There's also a couple nice Irish bar's...Pinhead Susan's and Katie O'Byrne's. Good places to catch the afternoon TV games before heading into the Ruck at night to celebrate RPI beating the Dutchmen...
