ugh.  One of the low points of my year was watching a freshman kicker do a mock chomp in the Swamp...twice...a f-ing kicker celebrating.

He was probably just pissed because the Old Ballcoach hit Auburn with one of his greatest one-liners ever.

On the media conference call the week of UF at Auburn: "Yeah. I heard that one of the dorms up there burned down and some books were destroyed.  It's a shame too because at least three of them weren't colored yet."

Oh, great zen master, make yourself visible to me... is there a good place to park and take a bus or train or something.... oh great T G P....

Los Angeles isn't well known for its public transportation.  Where are you guys coming in from (Valley?  Westside?  Hollywood?  OC?)

You can park at Staples - just plan on arriving a little early.  The best route is get hooked up with a VIP parking pass if possible.  People sell those on craigslist out here all the time.  Otherwise, there are several lots nearby (off of Fig and some off of Flower) that are within walking or a short cab ride from the SC.

Oh, TGP should mention that only a few blocks from the Staples (on Olympic) is the local Spearmint Rhino.

Thanks for the tips TGP... We're coming from La Jolla. It sounds like those Fig/Flower lots nearby are the best bet...

And MP is interested about this Spearmint Rhino.... what is it?

TDT just went over to their site Spearmint Rhino and was impressed by some of the talent.  But looked at their locations.  Boise, ID?  Are you kidding TDT?  What does the trim look like there?

AJ has to make a trip out to Phoenix this coming weekend for a wedding, can you recommend any good southwestren/mexican restaurants in the area.  AJ will be catching his first ever NFL game this weekend too watching the cards take on the panters.  Might have to pick kurt warner just to make the game more interetsing.

AJ, no joke, but this is Phoenix.  If you can't find a good mexican restaurant by simply falling out of bed, you're doing something wrong.  Or, should I say, "too numerous to list."

The Rev does have some serious advice, just stop in a place that looks like it might not be too clean, and chances are it has killer Mexican food.  The Rev goes to this place near 7th Street and Thomas(?) called juans.  Looking at the place, you'd think it's abandoned.  It is GOOD.

It also depends on where you stay.  The Rev knows a good place near the Capital Complex in downtown.  There's also a good place on 35th Ave about 1/2 a block north of the I-10.  Near The Rev's pad is a cool place on the Corner of 7th Ave and Osborn called Mi Patio.  The Rev likes to go there, put down a chicken quesadilla and several La Bohemia lagers.

Avoid places like Filiberto's or any derivitive of that name.  You will have diarrhea at best and more likely catch hepatitis A.

The Rev likes a GREEK place on 35th Ave, just north of Glendale Ave called "The Golden Greek."  The Rev recommends the Augolemono Soup ($1.95) and the Chicken Souvlaki sammich ($4.95).  Ask for a Greek beer to wash it down with.  Nice.  It's rally not too far from the stadium. (Basically go east from the stadium on Glendale Ave about 85 avenues, turn left on 35th and you're there.  It's only about 10 miles.)

As I watch the Yankees game, I can't help but to feel almost bad for Joe Torre.  He has no pitching he can rely on -- Clemens out in 2 1/3 the other night, Wong out in 1 tonight -- and he can't turn to a strong bullpen (Mussina was his first choice after Wong).  He has a $250mm headache bestowed on him (aka A-Rod) and a team that has no leadership (aka Giambi in place of Tino at first, Damon in place of Bernie in center, among other downgrades in leadership).  What can he be expected to do?  It's a miracle this team made the playoffs at all -- and that might be BECAUSE of Torre, not in spite of him.

I hate to see Joe fired if they indeed lose this series.  I think Steinbrenner is suffering dementia in many different ways if he continues to peg the blame on Torre, and this is coming from a Red Sox fan.

frank you think torre had problems...take a look at the phillies bullpen...there was NONE!!  Myers is a just above avg closer....pbr is still amazed that elmer fudd got them into the playoffs...but you are correct in that 150 million doesnt buy what it used to....

Frank you are crazy sir.  The Yanks had one of the best lineups top to bottom in MLB history.  The bottomline is that good pitching beats good hitting in the playoffs.  The Evil Empire has little of the former and loads of the latter.  I will agree that Joe has done much with his pitching staff.  The future is bright in the Bronx on the mound with Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Joba C, etc.  The free wheeling spending by Mr. Ship isn't the answer.  You can't toss 22 mil pro-rated at an aging 45 yr old HOFer.  The Yanks have spent big on guys who haven't performed (up to expectations) Damon 4/52 mil, Abreu, Giambi, Mussina, Clemens etc.  

I do like the stunned silence at The Stadium.  Something Grand about 55K murmuring as the season slips away.  I won't write off this baby yet, but it sure is looking bleak at 6-1 top of the 5th...
