Frank you are crazy sir.  The Yanks had one of the best lineups top to bottom in MLB history.  The bottomline is that good pitching beats good hitting in the playoffs.  The Evil Empire has little of the former and loads of the latter.  I will agree that Joe has done much with his pitching staff.  The future is bright in the Bronx on the mound with Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Joba C, etc.  The free wheeling spending by Mr. Ship isn't the answer.  You can't toss 22 mil pro-rated at an aging 45 yr old HOFer.  The Yanks have spent big on guys who haven't performed (up to expectations) Damon 4/52 mil, Abreu, Giambi, Mussina, Clemens etc.

I do like the stunned silence at The Stadium.  Something Grand about 55K murmuring as the season slips away.  I won't write off this baby yet, but it sure is looking bleak at 6-1 top of the 5th...

Tommy, read what I wrote...such as, Torre worked with the bad things Stein and Cash gave him.  A big payroll isn't a solution, and Torre had little control over that scenario.

Hey Rev,

AJ has to make a trip out to Phoenix this coming weekend for a wedding, can you recommend any good southwestren/mexican restaurants in the area.  AJ will be catching his first ever NFL game this weekend too watching the cards take on the panters.  Might have to pick kurt warner just to make the game more interetsing.

AJ, no joke, but this is Phoenix.  If you can't find a good mexican restaurant by simply falling out of bed, you're doing something wrong.  Or, should I say, "too numerous to list."

The Rev does have some serious advice, just stop in a place that looks like it might not be too clean, and chances are it has killer Mexican food.  The Rev goes to this place near 7th Street and Thomas(?) called juans.  Looking at the place, you'd think it's abandoned.  It is GOOD.

It also depends on where you stay.  The Rev knows a good place near the Capital Complex in downtown.  There's also a good place on 35th Ave about 1/2 a block north of the I-10.  Near The Rev's pad is a cool place on the Corner of 7th Ave and Osborn called Mi Patio.  The Rev likes to go there, put down a chicken quesadilla and several La Bohemia lagers.

Avoid places like Filiberto's or any derivitive of that name.  You will have diarrhea at best and more likely catch hepatitis A.

The Rev likes a GREEK place on 35th Ave, just north of Glendale Ave called "The Golden Greek."  The Rev recommends the Augolemono Soup ($1.95) and the Chicken Souvlaki sammich ($4.95).  Ask for a Greek beer to wash it down with.  Nice.  It's rally not too far from the stadium. (Basically go east from the stadium on Glendale Ave about 85 avenues, turn left on 35th and you're there.  It's only about 10 miles.)

Thanks Rev I was pretty sure that where ever would be good but thought i better ask the LLPP inc resident pro....

Tony Romo better have a kick a$$ 2nd half.

I hate to see Joe fired if they indeed lose this series.  I think Steinbrenner is suffering dementia in many different ways if he continues to peg the blame on Torre, and this is coming from a Red Sox fan.

Torre is getting the "Billy Martin" treatment from Steinbrenner.

And Torre's not even a notorious drunk!  Poor guy.

Fair enough Frank.  I was disagreeing with Arod being a "headache" at 250mil.  Which technically isn't true as the Rangers are still paying a nice chunk of his salary and he has been unbelievably productive.  No way the Yankees make the playoffs without the April and May that Arod had to keep them within striking distance.

TDT doesn't feel bad for Torre.  He'll be sipping Pina Coladas at Kapalua soon.  The Boss has paid him handsomely over the years.  If he wanted to continue to manage surely he'd have his pick of available jobs.  TDT isn't convinced that George will even fire him though.  He's been known to say one thing and do another or reconsider when calmer heads prevail.

TDT, Abreu was not a free agent aquisiton, he was a throw in on the trade for Lidle last season.  The Phils told the Yanks if you want Lidle you have to take Abreu also.  He was a steal for them.  He also strained a rib cage muscle in spring training and it wasn't right until the end of June and beginning of August.

Frank, ARod hasn't been a headache this season, you wouldn't be watching the Yankees now if he had been.  He isn't the only one not hitting, the whole team is hitting like doody this series.

Torre won't be sipping Pina Coladas, he will be drinking beers in Brooklyn.

A-Rod's effect is not just a hitting issue at times, but the fact that the powers that be look to him to be a leader of sorts -- and the clubhouses he's been in have been less-than-grateful to have him around.  That's the debacle he's become for the Yanks, among others in the last 6 or 7 years.

KS,

I knew he was acquired via trade.  But the bottomline is that $$$ is a huge factor in any and all trades.  They took on his salary which was big.  This is a marginal difference from him hitting the FA market and getting big dollars.

Ok enough beisbol.  TDT needs Witten to score again and rack up some yards in his money league.  C'mon Rocky Top!!!

The thing here is that Torres contract is up...so Joe is a free agent...  What pisses superman off so much is that the Yankees that dominated baseball from 1996-2001 did it the old fashioned way, great trades and smart free agent pick ups...come on...David Wells for Roger Clemons are you freaking kidding me... and then George Got greedy...screw george... just screw him...

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

TDT I also believe the Phils are still paying part of Abreu's salary and he has provided the same production and less headaches than Sheffield at a cheaper price, and Torre loves him.

LD11 needs approximately 4 yards combined out of Julius Jones and Patrick Crayton to win his $$ Fantasy League game.  This had better happen.  Plus I love Terrence McGee returning kicks cause he gets the 'boys O right back on the field...
