TGP thinks the Rev means the National Lax League.  They are the pro box lax league.  MLL is hanging in there, but not sure how many more seasons they have left.  At least they got that ESPN2 deal last season which probably helped.

TGP is correct.  The Rev did mean the NLL.  The Rev is not a fan of box lacrosse.

I took the liberty of ranking the East Region only based on the SOS figures, to the best that I could figure out, from the NCAA Manual, the way they're treating each component.  It appears that Opponents' Opponents' Win % is ONLY a tiebreaker for Opponents' Win % in the rankings.  Thus, this SOS indexing is deceiving; it's only focusing really on Opponents' Win % (I ran the entire chart and ordered the teams based on the index to the left of each name, and Column C descended in lock-step).  I think you'll agree that when you see these results by region here, they produce some odd results:

I am pretty sure I was at that game.  Browns-Steelers playoffs in Pittsburgh. (2003 maybe)  It was the only way they could get his ass on the ground that day.  I think he returned a punt for a TD, and caught a pass for one.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

you aint kidding frank weird stuff..kings and lyco top teams from the mac w/ those records? ...dvc played 2 teams in the top 25 and a divIAA school plus they have won every mac game so far this year. this is some crazy science baby... although looking at it again lyco has played wilkes/albright/ithaca/ who have good records so it kinda makes sense but in reality the mac will be decided in the next several weeks as all the top teams play each other. dvc for example has lyco/widener/wilkes/albright in consecutive weeks so take it w/ a grain of salt but probably fairly accurate right now if its weighted heavily to sos

Win the AQ and you don't have to worry about any of it.

D = Opponents' Opponents' Win % (excluding game vs. that opponent)

I took a few liberties with Frank's data.  SoS figures are indeed interesting in the abstract, but their practical value is greatest when using them to compare teams with similar records.  After all, if a team goes 0 - 6 against opponents with a .650 winning percentage, it can't reasonably claim that its SoS merits a higher ranking than a 6 - 0 team whose opponents have a .481 winning percentage.

So, the chart below arranges the East Region teams by winning percentage, teams with identical winning percentages arranged by SoS:

##    Team                   Conf       A          B        C       D   ##*

Breaking News - Joe Torre turns down Yanks offer of 5 mil for one year with an option

PBR...

pbr doesnt blame torre for rejecting the 1 yr. deal...bush league by the front office and a token contract at best w/ heavy incentives...the guy has proved himself and been a great team mgr....looks like this will gut the team and most players have said they are going to bail if torre isnt brought back

Knightstalker

We will see how quickly they bail with money on the line.

"In the end we will survive rather than perish not because we accumulate comfort and luxury but because we accumulate wisdom"  Colonel Jack Jacobs US Army (Ret).

JT

JT thinks he probably would have taken a two year contract.  Course a 2 mil cut in pay probably didn't help.  Here comes Don Mattingly.  Good luck. He'll need it.

labart96

TGP thinks the whole Torre thing is one big PR move by the NYY.

Torre had one of the all time best coaching runs in MLB.  HOFer for sure.  What Torre did to resurrect the Yanks season this year was nothing if not one of the best managing jobs TGP has seen in some time.

Still, there have been grumblings about Torre getting the boot for years and TGP believes this was the one way that the NYY ownership could set it up so it appearred as Joe was going his own way (vs. they looking like d-bags who really wanted to bring in the new blood - aka Mattingly- and fire a guy who has had a great managing career and has been a class act for NYY for 12 seasons).

Besides, at his age, TGP would have to think the Torre has had enough of the NY media, fans, etc.  He's done an amazing job and deserves some well earned RnR.

Congrats to Torre.
