Reno Hightower

Guru,

I would like it noted that Reno has never questioned you on these boards and has done so minimally off the boards! Reno loves and appreciates the site and what you do. With that said, I have 1 question regarding this weeks version of the Top 25......

How can TCNJ be ranked 2 spots ahead of Muhlenberg when A-The Mules are undefeated, B-TCNJ has 1 loss and C-TCNJ's 1 loss is to the Mules?!?!?!?!?!?

Reno is a Union fan so is unbiased in this matter!

I'm so fed up with MLBaseball.  I mean, why do we need a 162 game season if four teams from each league make the playoffs?  It not only undermines the filtering process of a long season, it forces the players to play baseball in 40 degree weather, NOT as God intended.

And another thing . . . !

So should the NFL only have the Conference Finals and the Superbowl?

If the NFL played a 162 game regular season, I would advocate reducing the number of playoff teams.  Wouldn't you?  I mean, why should your team, after slugging it out for 162 games in order to finish first, have to play against a bunch of second place teams again, before it can play in the Super Bowl?

Football necessarily has a shorter season than baseball.  Given the conditioning requirements of the sport, I thnk that a 16 game season played over 17 weeks is too long.

Around the Nation was all over this one weeks ago:
http://www.d3football.com/columns/around-the-nation/2007-10-11/Everything%27s+bigger%2C+including+Homecoming:

"There's a logical string of wins in the East, since Muhlenberg has beaten The College of New Jersey, which has beaten Montclair State, which has beaten Wesley. This realization caused me to regroup all of those teams in that order, even after considering the rest of the teams' schedules."

As Keith says, "Kick in your midseason moments or enjoy more of Keith's in-depth observations on [a href="http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=3800.1080"]Around the Nation's Post Patterns thread[/a]."

So, I have a slight observation to make.

I've noticed that the E8PP has caught up to the LLPP in page totals of late.  While all of us peek in there and contribute from time to time, this is akin to a fraterntiy brother sleeping over at the competing fraternity for a week straight when it reaches this level.  That guy would be de-brothered eventually...

My thoughts on why this may be happening center around our fair RPI friends.  You see, RPI is undefeated this season -- yes, 6-0, no matter how many cream puffs they choose to play in their non-conference play.  We're less than three weeks away from the "BIG Game" with Union -- even if it doesn't have LL Championship implications this year.  Yet, RPI posters are sitting on their hands.  It's unbelievable.  They barely defend the team's scheduling -- they don't tell us who deserves props from the team each week -- I know as much about RPI this year as I do about my left hand, if you know what I mean!  PEOPLE, YOU'RE 6-0...TELL US ABOUT IT FOR GOD'S SAKE!

This makes me realize that while RPI tries to pin the "w[h]ine and chesse" moniker on Union, at least Union fans post about their fear of an 0-2 start, their excitement of a four-game winning streak and their observations on the QB situation at Union.  Hobart fans give us weekly updates and discussion about their team.  Yet, RPI guys like Applejack have disappeared, although it's nice to see RS81 back in da hizzy.  But people, WHAT IN THE HELVETICA FONT IS GOING ON HERE?!

Thank you.  I will now descend from my soapbox.

30+ pages of game day play-by-play from the Fisher and Springfield fans usually increase the number dramatically over the weekend.

Great article forwarded to TGP from his Dad this morning.

Go Sox!

Nice article.  Irony, of course, is that the BoSox played Colorado in interleague play this season, with Colorado owning Boston...Why should this series be any different, is my initial thought?  BUT, that's why they play the games.

Reno,

Sometimes games that occur on Aug. 31 are seen as less meaningful in October than games actually played in October. The poll is a snapshot of today, not Week 1.

BTW, no, tobacco has not been banned in MLB.

Frank, RPIs JV would have gone 5-1 with that schedule.  Why bother raving about them.....

And yes, you can put many east teams in the same boat.  A lot of crappy d3 teams now a days that the top teams have to play because of the conferences....

June was a long time ago.  These teams are much different.  You can throw that series out the window.

Frank the tank fishing for bulletin board material by RPI posters.  Not gonna happen. RPI's season will play out just like everyone elses, on the field.

Besides, Coach Audino is skilled in fabricating his own bulletin board material when he needs some.  ;D

Reno is sort of right Pat.  About 7 or 8 years ago MLB decided that the teams would no longer be allowed to supply the players with tobacco.
