James Taylor will sing the National Anthem

Are you going to have a point?  What is your problem with James Taylor?  His music is some of the most amazing and unique ever created and he's an amazing talent.  Do you miss Britney and JT or something?

Dogg, you don't need to hurl insults in order to express an opinion.  You called Ronan Tynan a douchebag.  Why?

I'm sorry that you haven't noticed that James Taylor sings at benefit concerts for MoveOn.org and MoveOn PAC, both of which are pretty virulently anti-American.  Asking him to sing the National Anthem during the World Series strikes me as a tad disrespectful to America.

I really do hope you enjoy the World Series.  Honest.

I don't know what you mean by do I "miss Britney and JT or something?"

'What a bunch of homos.'

Does that constitute name calling?

From Wikipedia - MoveOn is a liberal public policy organization that has raised millions of dollars for Democratic Party candidates in the United States.  It was formed in response to the impeachment of President Clinton, and may have helped propel the Democratic Party to power in the 2006 election.

MoveOn comprises two legal entities, each organized under a different section of U.S. tax and election laws:

MoveOn.org Civic Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, formerly known as MoveOn.org, primarily focuses on education and advocacy on national issues.

MoveOn.org Political Action, a federal political action committee, formerly known as MoveOn PAC, gives contributions to candidates across the country to advance causes in Congress and help elect selected political candidates.

Doesn't sound 'anti-American' to me.  Actually quite the opposite.  It actually sounds like, with the history of our almighty wise president Mr. Bush, very Pro-America, as if they are actually hoping for the good of the country.

I'm not a political person by any means, but this sounds like sour grapes for a Bush supporter.

Thanks for your informed analysis of MoveOn.org.  Good for you.  I'm out.

Enjoy the World Series.

Well, as a counterpoint, I would feel a 'tad offended' if they had Cat Stevens...uhhh, I mean Yusuf Islam...to sing the national anthem.

I will thoroughly enjoy the World Series, BC beating VaTech tonight, the Patriots rolling through the NFL, the Celtics actually being above .500, and ignoring the Bruins.  I'll actually being doing quite a bit of that from Vegas tonight.

Chances are, after this weekend, you'll never hear from me again, so RedSwarm, you have nothing to worry about.

lewdogg11

If I DON'T make it home from Vegas, Frank, you can give my RPI/Union tickets to Redswarm.  I'd give them to Gro and Reg, but they would probably crumple them up and try to bounce them off someone's forehead.

I'll keep one eye on that game.  #2 has been a dangerous D-1 Poll position this season.  I'm no fan of the Hokies, but I imagine they're a tough team to beat on a Thursday night in Blacksburg.  And will somebody please play a full four quarters against those pretenders of LSU?

I don't want you to go away Dogg, I just want you to lighten up. (I don't mean light up, as you might be tempted to do at a James Taylor concert.  :D )

My good friend went to VTech and has season tickets, and therefore, I had tickets to tonights game....however, this little trip got booked after the fact.  will be difficult missing it.  I am slightly worried, but VTech's strength(Defense) is BC's strength(Offense), and I think BC's offense is better.  VTech's offense is horrendous and they are young.  The young QB(simply names Tyrod in these parts) is talented but is hurt so Glennon is most likely playing and he is not very good.  Blacksburg is a tough place to win, especially on a Thursday night, but I don't think Tech is that good, and I think BC is that good.  Maybe not #2 in the nation good(maybe they are), but they are just better physically than the Hokies, and Jags has so far proven that O'Brien needed to leave.  Matty Heisman throws for 5 TDs and 400 yards...

Generally if you a rich actor or musician its easy to be a liberal.  As a person of means, you are never affected by the socialist policies you support.   I like JT's music but when people of his fame talk politics, I tune them out.  Just shut up and sing.

I just don't know why this conversation came up.  The man is singing the national anthem.  I mean, sports events over the years have seen some doozies.  Do you have to dry yourself off with a flag towel and bleed red white and blue to sing it?  Nope.  Usually it has to do with someone's talent and sometimes their ties to a certain area.  If the guy is going to come out and sing a beautiful, passionate rendition in front of the 'upper' class WS crowd at Fenway, I'm all for it.

I DO however, wish the Red Sox would allow 1 game, just one game, in the World Series that tickets can only be bought by true fans, for face value, and can not be resold.  An impossible feat, but I would love to hear that place with a bunch of rowdy drunken crazies, rather than the Lexus driving yuppie, trustfund babies attending.  I bet it's louder in the Beer Works or Cask 'N Flagn than in Fenway.

Knightstalker

Face value tickets that can only be bought at the stadium ticket windows.  What a concept, never happen.  KS has already started his Yankee Stadium fund so he can take the Stalkerette to one game at Yankee Stadium next season before it is torn down.

Like I said I have no problem with Taylor, have plently of his stuff on my ipod.  With his voice he should do the NA.

Perhaps the way to do it is to have the ticket takers, ushers, beer vendors screen the people on line.  It will never happen, but these doods can spot a real fan in a heartbeat. For one game, they decide who gets to buy and who doesn't.

Yankee playoff and WS games have been just as bad.

I know I said I was out, but you made a good point.  I am sorry, I forgot to phrase it properly:

What a bunch of homos.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I forgot that some people might consider it an insult without that disclaimer.

I am sooo with you on that score.  (Warning:  Nerdspeak ahead)  When she was on her game, you could have hooked up an o-scope to her voice, and calibrated everything from radio telescopes to satellite tracking systems off of the perfect sine wave she could generate.

KS.... try ebay a few days before a game.  Many times you get great seats for UNDER face, especially for games like Tampa, Kansas City, etc.  JT's gotten better teams for under face too.  On gameday or day before you have the people with ticket packages and email ability that can email tix to you for printout.

Good deals on stubhub 2-3 day out but they hit you with 10% plus nail you for the Fed Ex.

Just make sure the ebayer has good feedback and preferably has sold tix before.
