Im still just basing a lot of what SJF has done this year on what happened last year.  They still did not lose that many players, and except for the Hartwick game has had a similar season so far I would say......

See, though, I would've given that same analysis to Union in 2006 since they had the crux of their team from 2005 back after the 10-0 (11-1 including playoffs) season.  Yet, different years bring different results, attitudes, competition and scenarios.  I think if Union/SJF were played in 2005 (against SJF's 2006 players), the result would have been much closer if not in the other direction.  The weight of expectations can create a lot of fatigue by midseason -- let alone in the playoffs.  However, again, SJF has performed well so far.  I just think Hobart has performed slightly better down the stretch with, what others have characterized as, a good but not great team.

Agreed again.....U89 must just be in an agreeable mood tonight.......

Again Im not sure exactly who SJF has brought back this year, but I am pretty sure I remember Union graduating 4 of 5 onlinemen from that 2005 team?  And from seeing them live, I thought Unions oline was what made that team.  Their WRs were good, but no better than SJFs or ICs top ones were, and their QB was as good as any QB I have seen at the d3 level.  Their RB was great, but broke a lot of tackles against an IC defense that did not tackle well and I wouldnt see him doing as well against other top east teams.

That being said, I would say last years SJF team was way too big on defense to let what happen to IC happen to them from that 2005 Union team.  The 2005 Union team size was their only weakness on offense.

I have not seen Hobart at all except in a few pics...........

For as good as Marotti was at QB, he'd be the first one to tell you that he had national-caliber receivers in Angiletta and Twitchell.  I wouldn't under-assess those two.  With Arcidiacono taking a lot of the pressure off the passing game, Union's sometimes out-sized O-Line was able to do a pretty good job at keeping away the pressure, although -- if the pressure broke through -- the D-Line of the other team didn't know where to commit because of the run/pass balance Union presented.  It was a pretty good machine when all put together, and I can really say that all parts of that machine were the keystones to that machine.  Final note is that Arcidiacono was hurt in the SJF game -- he shouldn't have played in the RPI game in the week before because he aggrivated his injury.  Would it have changed the game completely?  No, but it may have quelled the lopsidedness of it.  That's another reason why 2005 Union vs. 2006 SJF would have been a good matchup.

Frank, what are last years big 3 doing now.....you can PM it to me for privacy if you would be so kind....just curious.

I don't think this is an issue to say it publicly -- they should be proud as they're making good tracks in their lives...Although, don't forget Twitchell -- I'd say the Big 4 is more the name of that group, although I'm not 100% sure about what he's doing right now.

Tom Arcidiacono - I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is getting some education in the area of strength, conditioning and physical therapy (something along those lines).  He had told us on the air earlier in the season that Union QB Jared Gourier is looking to work with him in the off-season to better his on-field performance, cutting and conditioning.

Anthony Marotti - He is working in finance down here in NYC.

Steve Angiletta - He is in graduate school in Connecticut, aiming to get a degree in Communications (he's very well spoken from when we had him in the booth with us last year during his injury).  He is also coaching some high school football on the side.

Was good speaking with all three this past weekend -- and seeing them support the U all season.

Frank, KS thinks that when it is not sound geographically the NCAA will revert to their old ways.  But when you can move just a couple of teams, keep it under 500 miles and you can give the consensus four best teams number one seeds they should do it.

Tags would like to propose giving Mt. Union the championship prior to the season actually starting. Then you could have the rest of the field play the regular season, and have their own playoffs, with a shot at what we'll call the "Crag Mountain Bowl" --- strictly for 2nd place.

BOL..this is one of the best posts RT has ever seen out of Tags, or anyone for that matter, in a long time.

Well, the bad news is that, no, there is no pig roast. RT couldn't get enough folks we needed to for the required headcount. However, the normal tailgating will commentce at 9am. PM me if you need more detail on directions, what to bring, etc

The GOOD news is that RT will be doing color commentary for the D3football.com coverage of the RPI/TCNJ game. This is special to RT since he is finally involved in an RPI broadcast and RT can assure you that you will hear a professional, balanced game call. RT believes the feed is also being picked up on the NCAA website. If you're going to tune in, check us out as an alternative to what you're used to for the RPI casts!!!

Kind of reminds me of Massachusetts high school hockey.  You see in Massachusetts, private schools and public schools both play in division 1 hockey.  But for the state championship, no public school has come close to winning a state title since Calvin Coolidge was prez.  So everyone is always bitching about private schools not being allowed to be in the state finals, and the private schools always threaten to sue the MIAA if any action is considered........Im kind of losing the point of my story but Mt. Union seems to be the Catholic Memorial of d3football.....
