This announcement from BCS Headquarters....because there is no one else deserving to play for the national title, the BCS has selected Hawaii to take on Mount Union for the National Championship!

Hawaii down 7-0 to the Huskies four minutes into their game...So don't pencil in the Warriors quite yet...

Instead of parity, U89 sees the 2007 NCAA football season as severe mediocrity............

NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND.......

Hawaii down 28-21 at the half....

I very much enjoy the LLPP but take grief from Mrs. Lyco for some of the bawdy stuff that appears on here from time to time.  She says the post should be renamed "DIII guys who like to continue to act like frat boys."  It is then that I remind her of my own frat days and she smiles.

As for today's action - MUC continues to roll, yawn, like that is a big surprise.  Congrats to IC for giving them the best game to date, probably all year when the muddy fields finally freeze over for winter.

As for the rest of college football, thank goodness I am a Sooner too.  That graduate degree gives me something to hang my hat on this year since Lyco stunk up the joint and the Eagles seem destined to stay just close enough to almost make the playoffs but not get in.

But then, finally, there is the wit, humor and naughtiness of LLPP, to keep things light until spring training starts again.

Can anyone in DIII hope to compete on an even keel with MUC this year?

And add to it a furious 4th Quarter comeback...However, the problem now is that they didn't perform well against a so-so PAC-10 team...and that gives the haters out there a potential reason to drop them on their ballots a bit.

U89's only problem with the Hawaii program is that every time the camera shows one of those big, fat, shirtless Hawaii guys, they have to immediately break into thier best George 'The Animal' Steele impression.

Why the f' is that...very annoying to U89.

The BCS stinks.  Bottom line, you can't narrow down 119 teams into 2 "worthy" teams.

LLPPSCFJFFL... 10 min to get that lineup straight for the regular season finale... playoffs are on the line!

Exactly.  I heard Pete Carroll on a radio clip the other day basically supporting a playoff system.  I think thats the only way they could get one started too is to have these big coaches step up and start talking about it.  They have nothing to lose.  They are already getting paid, and they don't get much more for winning bowl X over bowl Z.  If they changed, IM sure contracts could change too.

I do think this year will help getting closer to a playoff system for a few reasons.  One is that there are probably going to be 10 teams who will have a legitimate arguement that they will have better teams than the BCS final two teams.

And its becoming clearer that teams can manipulate their rankings by their schedules.  Simply put, dont play any non-conference games that you have a chance at losing (for big conference teams).  I mean, Boston College could have finished this season with one loss, and Im going to assume they would have been 1 or 2 if they had been.

Speaking of coaches contracts... this is a report from last year. Make sure to click the database link on the top you can read through some actual coaches contracts

I always wondered if at some of these State schools if the football programs bring in any money for the school itself that might warrant such a high coach salary.  I remember when they listed the top salaries for public employees in Massachusetts and John Calapari was #1 on the list by a couple hundred thousand....

Great find Gro....

I just randomly picked out Virginia Head Coach Al Grohs contract and noticed a few things that I would never really think of...

- 8 season tickets to the basketball games

-10 season tickets to the football games

-  "The coach may make reasonable use of the University's aircraft and vehicles as is necessary to carry out his duties......."

-  "The university will reimburse any annual dues (excluding and initiation fees) required to maintain the Coach as a member of a local athletic or country club of the Coach's choice"

Nice find Gro' - thanks. It's pretty cool they released some of the actual contracts.

Can you believe Paterno is paid as little (relatively speaking) as he is? His was recently made public --- ~$600k if I recall correctly. Maybe that is just base, and doesn't include "other income".

Tags I always got the feeling that the State has wanted him to retire for a long time.  They probably keep his salary low for a reason.  Maybe the Penn St. fans on here (UPBRme) can fill us in on that one.

(And all the state schools coaches are public record and have to be available.  Notice that ND isnt on there and some other private schools.  Plus some federal tax returns were gotten on some of the coaches if you notice at the bottom)

Gro read through Kansas' Mark Mangino's contract... it pays for T&E expenses for his family at away games.  Gro wonders if the rest of his fam can do damage at the buffet line like he can.
