This is a classic post from Chris7Sarge on the E8 page.  It is LLPP material though and should be posted here......

"I had two very good friends go to RIT.  Very male dominated campus.  Also high ratio of Asians and deaf people (not sure the politically correct way to say that, did the best I could).  Some other interesting notes on that subject...  All students are expected to live on campus their freshman year.  With the exceptionally large population of deaf students, this leads to some interesting interactions.  Many of the deaf students have hundreds of dollars invested in their sound systems becuase they listen to the music by feeling the vibrations due to the base.  As you can imagine, many of the dorms are blaring music (often several at the same time) at all hours.  Second, and much funnier, the deaf are apparently much louder in bed as well so as to feel the vibrations from each other, not the sound.  This leads to a wierd screaming/moaning sound throughout the dorms on Saterday nights.
I figured the musicalside of this entry might be up your alley.  Happy holidays to all.  Its been a good year of busting on each other."
