Quote from: JT on February 01, 2008, 03:54:22 PMRomney is the only true conservative left.

Wrong.  Romney is a phony-baloney conservative.  Anyone who wants to expand the gubment is a statist-liberal

The only real conservative is Ron Paul, who also, by the way, has the highest number of donations from members of the military than any other candidate, including McCain.

Viz.,

Paul: $286,764; 1349 donors
McCain: $79,597; 413 donors
Romney: $29,250; 140 donors
Huckabee: $24,562; 94 donors

Obama: $81,037; 466 donors
Clinton: $49,523; 181 donors

Rev's brand of conservatism: every man a rifleman; politicians are unpaid; federal government defers to states, states defer to locals; thongs and beer are plentiful; and there is no holding hands or guitars in church.

Romney is the closest thing to one that could win. But with Huckaphony sucking away votes, Romney's chances are going up in smoke.  JT is worried.... very worried.  The Libs already control the media, TV, Hollywood, and the Colleges.  What else is left? No wonder most kids come out of of schools as entitlists/socialists.

JT just says to them... You want government healthcare, OK.  Point to any government program that works. Hell, it was Teddy Kennedy that started this HMO BS.  Now he's against that.

Gro is back with a brand new edition

Ahhh, it's been too long LLPP... nothing like a little hiatus while gro reaches a labor agreement with his writing staff (i.e. 4 monkey's with typewriters).  Now that that's out of the way... what a frickin Superbowl.  Gro knew something was up after the team intros.

Giants - Kanye West "Stronger"
Patriots - Ozzy Osbourne "Crazy Train"

Come on New England, act like you haven't been there before.  Someone must have delegated the music selection duties to Ken "Sully" Sullivan** -  assistant equipment manager and father of 3 from Franklin.

**Not a real person, the monkeys don't have time to be funny and accurate.

'gro back after a long absence...thought you might be out looking for holladawg or going the way of holladawg...pbr was initally rooting for the pats but found himself rooting for the gmen as the game went on. priceless and classless was belicheck wanting to take his ball and go home w/ .01 second left on the clock...

JT

JT thought it would be close game but wow!  11-0 on the road.  Best Superbowl since Namath's guarantee. Now "THE CATCH" could mean David Tyree and not Dwight Clark.

The local media is now calling Eli "Easy-E"

JT is debating the ticker tape parade.  He just has to walk Southeast, but JT wants a window seat.  He'll be calling his connections to see if it can happen.  Had a window seat for 1996 and 1998.

This statement is the one that hits the nail on the head.  Show some emotion....wil out a little bit...jump around, do something!

Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to interview belichek immediately after the game?  Did anyone else fast forward in their mind 15 seconds and see Belichek choke slamming the guy?

Belichek is obviously a vindictive guy but I don't see him doing his own dirty work.  He is the guy at the bar that talks tough because he has three meathead buddies in the back room.  My guess is Chris Meyers gets no access next season.

Todays Thong of the Day .

Great game, KS thought both teams would put up more points.  Both D's played lights out, the Giants D just a little better last night.  KS favorite hit was the second to last Patriots play when Alford just planted Brady in the turf.

JT was hoping ol hoody would wig out and choke the interviewer.  That would have been really funny.

Gro didn't have much of a problem with Billy B's post game actions.  Sure he left with 1 second left but he already gave his props to Coughlin and didn't want to be part of the mob scene.  His postgame comments were typical for a losing coach, but the funny thing about him is that he's like that after every win too.  Weird dood.

Curse of the MVP lives (the last league mvp to win the superbowl in the same season was Kurt "Jesus is my Homeboy" Warner)

Curse of the red hoodie begins??

Moral of the story, Qb's should never let their hot girlfriends attend important games.

TGP still mulling over how the Pats blew a chance to make NFL history.  Posted Simmons' column in the G/P thread since it pretty much summed it up.  Bottom line was that the Giants were the hot team, caught a few breaks and just plain wanted it more.

MVP certainly wasn't Eli.  TGP wishes the NFL could have given that MVP award to the G's DL.  Their dominance of the Pats OL is the reason why the G's beat the Pats.

Nothing proved it better than Alford (a rookie no less), blowing thru the Pats 2 All-Pro OL to drill Brady for a 10 yd loss on the last gasp drive, putting the Pats with a 3rd and 20 and pretty much sealing the win for NY.

This game will haunt the Pats for the rest of their careers.  Even if Brady ends up winning another SB (putting him into the Montana, Bradshaw category - although you could argue his losing SB42 will always keep Brady out of that "best ever" argument), more people will remember this loss than perhaps any of the other wins.

Kinda sucks, but that's how history often plays out.

gro agrees they need to do something about the MVP award. At the start of the 4th quarter there was no clear cut MVP for either team (DL Justin Tuck probably had the best stats).

The NFL or whoever decides this award should either
A.) Not be afraid to make Co-MVP's (Giants Dline, Rhodes/Addai last year)
B.) Select a Offensive and Defensive MVP

TGP could see an argument being made for Giants WR Tynes.  He did score the first Giants TD and made one of the most amazing catches (with his FREAKING helmet) TGP has seen at ANY level of football.

But, when in doubt, it seems the NFL just automatically hands it over to the QB.

There was fan voting involved, the people texting in votes for MVP probably don't watch much football.

Brady should already be considered one of the best.  Jimmy Johnson, a great talent evaluator called Brady the best QB he's ever seen play.  When Brady gets that fourth or fifth ring it will be cemented.

The Giants just looked a lot looser than the Pats.  Giants played with nothing to lose and the Pats played with everything to lose.

JT had no problem with hoodie bouncing after he hugged Coughlin, but the utter disbelief on Billy B's face and the anger... JT was like "hit 'em... hit 'em" during the postgame, hoping he'd drop the mike jockey.

JT likes underdogs especially when one of his teams' is the underdog.  Made some nice coin on every step of the playoffs.

The downside is that JT would like those 1972 Dolphins to shut up. Now that ain't gonna happen.  They played only two teams with a winning record.  And stop interviewing the 70 year old kicker... he's no football player.  He's a kicker.
