So JU goes into Citibank today to use their ATM. JU does not have a citibank account but needed some dough to get a slice of pizza.  So I go through the process and see that Citibank now wants a $3 fee for using their ATM.  Now this fee  is not new by any means but made me think.  Does Citibank really need that $3 from people using their ATMs in Boston?  It just turns me off from ever getting an account there in the future.  If the local credit union can give out cast without a fee why can't citibank?

pbr agrees ju....but its in the name of the almighty dollar and generating income off of EVERY type of transaction...remember when wachovia started charging people to talk to their bank tellers only electronic banking was free except for their "membership fee's...." and other associated transactions....basically the banks count on people being lazy and rather than walking down the street where there are no fee's (pbr's home bank and wawa's..." be lazy and pay the extra $3 and its amazing how many people pay the extra

The ATM fees are getting rediculas...  Bank of America charges gro an additional fee for using a non-BOA ATM, so a trip to the cash machine can cost $5.

Gro avoids this by
A.) using the check card where ever possible.  Yeah, I'm the guy using the check card for a pack of gum.
B.) Buying that pack of gum and getting cash back... no fees.

JU

The Wachovia fee for non customers in Chester County PA is 2.75....

I think Citi ATMs are free at 7-11s

Fact
-Reg worked out a deal with his current banking institution that if he has his direct deposit going there that he gets free use of any banks ATM, anywhere. (my bank pays the fee for me)
-cash back (as Gro described) can sometimes lead to additional fees

It might be worth calling your local bank to ask them about free ATM withdrawls (or threaten to leave your current bank).  While the big companies will look at you funny and think you are on something, the smaller banks just might ante up.

Do not try this is you are "ballin on a budget" with your first deposit.

Yea I usually go to my own bank (local one) but I had already driven and parked before realizing that I had no money.  (and its an old school pizza place/ cash only).  I probably pay less than $25 a year in fees anyway so it doesn't really matter that much.

But does Citibank really need the $3 per transaction?  Wouldnt advertising the free fee help out the company?

Who can JU punch in the face regarding this transaction?

Fellas,

This "Nickel and Dime" BS is rediculous and a TOP pet peeve of TDT.  In fact, just the other day TDT decided he is changing banks to one where they cover all the bogus ATM fees.  That being said, I have yet to do the necessary research but I have been told that M&I Bank covers all fees at ATMs (they are decent size, national, etc, but TDT has yet to confirm this).

The other beef I have is the withdrawal cash LIMIT from the ATM.  Are you kidding me?  I want my Benji's and I want them now.  If I want a G on Friday night at 11pm, give 'em to me.  And not in 20s, big bills only!!!!  As REGuhator has patented, What is this Amature Hour??

AMEN TDT.  Why does Reg need to call the bank to bump himself up to a titanium member in order to take out 5 large?  And what is 5 large anyway??? 2 tanks of gas?  A weeks worth of Miller lite?  and when I call, why do they make it seem like I am trying to rob them?

5 large for a weeks worth of ML?  Slowing down in your old age Reg?

Although I now have auto-pay where my bank sends all my bill payments online, two years ago Chase Auto Finance wanted to charge me 20 bucks for an online payment! (when I went to their website and put in my bank account #).  I mean this is Chase Bank wanting to charge me $20 for a payment online!  I don't know if its still the same but that is crazy.

As for the limits I kind of need them.  If they didnt have those I think I would have waken up a times in Vegas with my accounts empty!  But I do think they do that for security and safety reasons for customers.  In my town last year a few robbers broke into a store and took two BOA atm machines from the back and made out with almost 200K.  Those machines hold a lot of dough.

PBR...

spot on JU....pbr still likes the video caught by the security camera of the doods who brought a backhoe and toreoff the corner off the building and ripped out the atm....pure genious there and gone in seconds and no f'n around bringing the heavy artillery w/ them and a full atm in tow....

Ralph / Jonny,

Let's face it guys, this is all about the E-8 and $. Last year the E-8 had (2) participants in the dance. Get below (7) and that does not happen. All the private school BS means nothing without the AQ. IHMO I hope the (4) teams join the E-8 and LL, and the ACFC comes to the NJAC, but we all know that will not happen. It's about $ and the dance. For 2009 you can put it in the book that Cortland or B-Port jump from the NJAC and everything goes on. Comments ?

I don't think the amount of teams in the conference matters in terms of who gets in or not.  If the E8 had 5 teams and IC won the conference but SJF went 9-1 while beating Mt. Union, you would still have two teams in.  Looking back I think you can say Ithaca and SJF deserved to go as much as any other eastern teams.

And the LL is not going to let any state schools in.  And I dont think the E8 has any problems in terms of finding other teams to play either.

this whole E8 "invitation" may just have been a formality with some schools (cortland?) already gotten the wink wink.

If the E-8 had (5) teams and no AQ, you would fall with the rest of the independents and take your chances. As Ralph said, the key is to keep (7) members and the AQ.

Ok I hear ya.  But if the E8 lost an AQ, another indy spot (pool c?) would open up as well.

You definetly want that AQ for that year where the top teams might not get in other wise.  Anything else is a bonus.  Although like I said before, I think Ithaca might have been the 2nd best team in the east at the end of last season.

Pep would have to agree with this statement. There was a day when the Saxons battled the Bombers in the first two or three weeks of the season; IC was always primed and Pep wished AU could play IC later in the year. The inverse was true in 2007...Bombers got better with every game and by the time the AU Pep Band was making noise at Butterfield with hopes of Keeley sparking a come-from-behind Saxon win, the Bombers doused the flame with two 4th quarter TDs.  :(

NSRB is Pep's witness that Pep admitted the Bombers were on the rise and the Saxons were struggling to return to earlier form prior to the contest.

Did anyone read this about the lady who died in an 'iron lung' after 60 years because the power went out?  Honestly, I think i would have rather died then live in that thing.  That's just cruel...
