enginegrodamus predicts one day there will be a "speed tax" where the speed limit is 70, but you can drive up to 85... for a price.

Any other perks you are predicting Gro?  Reg would appreciate a lane that if someone is driving under the speed limit, that you can bump draft them until they either move over or speed up.

Any help would be appreciated

EngiNegroDamus takes over the DOT

let's see...

1. for any car that is in motion, if your blinker is on for more than 20 seconds your vehicle will be destroyed by lasers mounted on various DOT satellites. These lasers will also be available (for a fee) to call in air strikes against a-hole drivers, anyone from conneticut, and little kids who give you the finger from the backseat when their parents aren't looking.

2. New York & Mass (and all other offending states) will finally number their exits signs by the mile marker, not sequentially.  Oh exit 17 great we're almost there, where's exit 18?... 23 miles away, F***!

3. Highway patrols will no longer use K9 units to detect drugs and other contraband.  All states will now use trained police bears.  You get pulled over by a cop with a bear, you aren't gonna start sheeeit.   <--- insert hilarious comedy sketch of buddy cop/bear movie.

4. Napalm strike against anyone traveling in the far left lane that is not going over the speed limit....

Man this one irritates U89.....just yesterday, a guy was cruising at 60 in the passing lane in medium traffic.....U89 got right on his arse.....the tool moved to the middle lane, but flipped me the bird as your boy passed him...... >:(

A female DJ on the NYC classic rock station told a story a couple of weeks ago about driving in to work about 4:00 AM one morning on the GSP.  She drove up on someone doing about 60 in the left lane.  She did what KS father taught him to do when you want someone to move over, flashed the highbeams twice.  The car did not speed up or pull over, she flashed the hb's again.  The car pulled over, she drove by and the car slid in behind her, then the NJ State Trooper in the unmarked car hit her with the lights and gave her a ticket for aggressive driving.

I would be BS if that happened.  If she really was going the speed limit, I would appeal it and ask the clerk to issue the cop a citation for driving slow in the fast lane.

I guess you really shouldn't flash the highbeams though.  I always just pass on the right.

Of course she wasn't going the speed limit, nobody goes the speed limit on the GSP.  An aggressive driving ticket in NJ is a catch-all, they will issue it for tail-gating, weaving through traffic, passing on the right etc.

Flashing the highbeams has always been accepted as the polite way to ask someone to move over.  Just like the flash to from the opposite lane to tell someone a speed trap is set up.

Were there any LLPP'ers in RI recently?

KS- Who are you....Paul Revere??  Flashing to tell someone there is a speed trap?

JK- (If I were a cop I would be dropping the Paul Revere line like it was hott)

I do it all the time and I occasionally get warnings from fellow drivers as well.

Wouldn't NosGrodamus sound better?

JT will flick on the local speed traps.  You know the ones that go from 45 to 35 or 35 to 25 mph.  Designed specifically as revenue generators for local towns.  JT hates those.

A decent source for speed traps.  JT checks from time-to-time.

Theres nothing worse than getting a ticket for going 20 mph over the speed limit when you just passed a 30-20 mph zone change.

As for the money (in massachusetts anyway).  50% of all revenue goes to the state, and the other 50% gets riembursed to the town for roadwork and dpw stuff.

Jonny Utah - You mentioned the State Liquor Store on the highway in NH...There are like 5 state liquor stores off of 93 as well.  On a long trip, it makes it rather difficult to not buy a bottle of the Doctor for the road.  Imagine if there were liquor stores on the GSP or NJ Turnpike?  Drunken thugs errrrywhere.

Yea, I don't understand why they don't sell beer though.  And although I never checked prices, are they gonna be much cheaper than a 1/5 of JD at Jamaica Liquors on Huntington Ave for me?

A sign that the apocalypse is upon us:

Weak economy putting more Americans in therapy
The weak economy is taking a toll on the mental health of Americans, according
to a front page article in the USA Today. Requests for therapists have gone up
15-20% in the past three months and have been triggered by concerns over
personal financial situation.

So, if TGP understands this correctly - you should spend $100-150/hr to see a shrink when you are stressed about your personal financial situation?

That gets the WTF of the week.

TGP-

How do you know how much therapy is?  hmmmm? ehhhhh?
