fair enough.

hey RPI alums - better hit up your alma mater with a WTF?!!?

WPI alums earning more on average than RPI alums per the WSJ:

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)
Starting median:$61,000.00
Mid-career median $114,000.00
Bottom 10%:  $80,000.00
Mid 25%:  $91,200.00
Mid 75%:    $137,000.00
Mid 90%:  $180,000.00

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
starting:  $61,100.00
Mid median $110,000.00
bottom 10 $71,600.00
mid 25% $85,500.00
mid 75% $140,000.00
mid 90% $182,000.00

other LL schools mentioned:
Union
start $47,200.00
mid median $95,800.00
bot 10% $48,700.00
mid 25% $75,200.00
mid 75% $135,000.00
mid 90% $230,000.00

* note - tgp never believes these type of rankings.  data is about as reliable as a pile of poo.

TGP, you have to figure each of these schools have 100 football players at each school.  Have you seen what some of these football players have turned into?

Im not suprised.

RT's personal philosophy, unsupported by any empiracle data, is that the Bizarooneers nose out RPI by virtue of having a much more regional draw from Boston/New England where their students stay closer to home and, thus, benefit from a higher-paying economic base centered around Beantown. RT feels RPI students tend to be more dispersed, both domestically and internationally, and that this would skew the median income a bit for the folks designing sewage treatment plants in Topeka, for example.

Taking that philosophy a step further, Union's pay scale can be attributed to its graduates choosing to stay in Shocktown and its attractive pay scale at places like Patrick's barber shop, Gepetto's, and the Stewart's on Nott St....the number for Union grads would be much lower if it weren't for Frank's gaudy compensation.

RT - Re: Curry more votes than RPI

I'm not sayin' I'm just saying - Curry won their playoff game.

in other news, +k for the shocktown references. Other options for union grads:
Managing the fried dough tent at St. Anthony's feast
Tour guide at the planetarium
Waitress/Waiter at olympic diner (bullet proof vest not included)
Paddle Boat maintenance tech at central park.

Schenectady - we've got options.

PBR...

+K RT.

Im also going to think that RPI and Union (Union especially) will have more liberal arts and farts type, earning teacher salaries and the like.

Interesting tidbit about the college football top 25 (d-1)

"Where's the one vote for Duke? Every year, as a thank you for his time there as a head coach, Steve Spurrier puts the Blue Devils 25th in his preseason poll. This either means 1) Spurrier doesn't actually fill out his ballot anymore or 2) the novelty has worn off. I'm guessing it's the first part"

Didn't he get rebuked for that vote last year?

Yeah.  Some paper made a big stink about it.

He would always leave Duke at 25 until they lost.

RT, yeah i remember Lowe striking out a guy against the A's.  But I also remember him blowing save after save for a few seasons.  Hence the 'sad to see him go' because he had some huge moments, but you don't pay a guy a ton for a couple good games.  Trot Nixon?  Yeah i remember his home run in game 4 against the Yankees in 2004...But Trot is like a careeer .260 hitter and has been on the DL since he left.  Sad to see him go?  Sure, but let's face it, they have made some smart moves with their $$$.

NJ smells funny...

See JU, the Red Sox let Manny be Manny, they could of put their foot down 3, 4 years ago or in 2006 when he quit at the end of the year... but you all let him go and do what he did, so know that he is no longer there you all kick dirt on him... not cool, either always hate manny or never hate manny

Supe,

again, what manny has done in the last few weeks is way over the top from what he has ever done.  And im not saying they should have put their foot down 3-4 years ago.  But if they were a "class" organization they would have.  And we arent kicking dirt on him because he left the team, we are doing this because of the way he left.  If he was an nfl player, he could be fined for that stuff.

I

I dont know what class has to do with letting Manny get away with stuff?

Just a couple comments from all of this nonsense i'm reading:

1.  Gerry Callahan - I can't say I always have agreed with the man, and i can't say I even like the man.  He sometimes writes and says things for the sole purpose of controversy to make his talk show more entertaining and his goal in life is to piss people off so they call in and argue and people listen.  I think this is another example.  Possibly not completely off base, but a little bit exagerated.

2.  I will always love Manny.  I think most Sox fans will always love Manny.  I didn't love his lack of hustle at times.  i didn't love his bad attitude which showed up from time to time.  But as an athlete, i loved him.  But at this point, i agree, it was time for him to go.  And i'm glad to see him in LA and not in f'ing NY.  Atleast LA is a land for Red Sox rejects...

3.  Derek Lowe?  Why would the Red Sox re-sign Derek Lowe?  We loved him when he was here, but he could never be counted on, and he had 'The Derek Lowe' face.  Was sad to see him go, but it was sad to see Bronson Arroyo go too.

4.  Pedro is one of my favorite players of all-time, but the Red Sox made the right move in not paying him a jillion dollars.  Let's face it, finally the Red Sox mgmt is being wise with their money.  A little out of the Patriots book me thinks...

5.  All of this racism talk is stupid.  Roger Clemens is a scumbag.  Barry Bonds is a scumbag.  Mark Maguire is a scumbag.  Race means nothing.  However, baseball is overwhelmingly saturated with foreign players so when a white guy gets into trouble it's expected, but when a Spanish player gets into trouble its racist.  Give me a f'ing break.  Everyone is on an even playing field...minus the extra muscle in the calf...

6.  Nomar...he was poison...There are no Red Sox players that were sad to see Nomar the teammate go...Nomar the ballplayer?  Sure...But not Nomar the teammate.  And i think this situation is very similar.

I don't even know what i just typed.  My head hurts.  Need to poop.  Need to put pants on.

RE: Derek Lowe.

RT is not part of Red Sox nation but has rooted for them for several years. RTs only real memory of Derek Lowe is in an Oakland divisional series 5 or 6 years ago where Lowe was brought in in relief and shut down the A's the rest of the game and Boston came back and won. Anyone remember that??

Sure do! The Sox have had some amazing Series comebacks in the last 6 years!

RT drove by the new RPI stadium last night that's under construction...about 50% done. It is UNREAL. It looks like a damn D 1AA stadium...seriously. Could be one of nicest in D3 when done. Will be a comfy venue for the 375 fans against SLU in Nov in 45 degree rain.

If the Union/Ithaca series is a reality, per Reno, RT is depressed that RPI isn't doing the same. RT been asking for that for YEARS.....

Its the week they play Becker, I believe.

Details of the first alcoholic drinks from Dr. Dre and
beverage company Drinks Americas have begun to emerge.
In the Drinks Americas Q4 earnings, which were released Tuesday,
the company said it would introduce Aftermath Cognac in the next 60
days. Following that, an 80-proof flavored and unflavored sparkling
vodka will hit the market, also within the next 60 days.
According to the earnings statement, the cognac and vodka will be
introduced at the same time as Dr. Dre's long awaited ``Detox'' album
and will be part of an integrated marketing plan surrounding the
project.
