Quotethat dude is insanely fast.  if he could catch (and take a hit), he'd be a first round nfl draft pick.

TGP would just have him run post patterns all game.

Peter King talked about this on the Dan Patrick show on Monday.  There have been other Olympic speedsters (Bob Hayes, Willie Gault, James Jett) whose speed translated to the NFL.  The Raiders were a common place for guys like that to get a trial run.  King pointed out that Bolt is pretty thin, though.

First round pick?  How about the best player in the history of the NFL.

I read that based on his 100m time, he would have run the 40 somewhere between 3.2 - 3.5 and at one point in the 100 he hit 30 mph.

For comparison, I am fairly certain that Joey Galloway still holds the NFL Combine record in the 40 at 4.2.  This dude is almost a full second faster.

Jose,
Did you see the call on BJ Upton last night....totally rediculas and the umps are standing by the call.

Re: LLPPFFL

Originally a 12 team league, RT and Reg have not signed up this year. Gro's not in the mood to find 2 last min replacements (must have 2 or it won't let you draft).

Draft is tonight at 9pm EST. Gro suggests you hit up your local grocery store for snacks galore and the mind numbing drink of your choice.

EDIT How about pizza rolls and jim beam?

30 pack of Miller Lite is chizzilled and ready to roll!!!!

RT & Reg are both PunkAsses.....

speakin of those 2 ....reg is around periodically when job permits but RT is definetly m.i.a. where is da boy? he gots a women in his life and disappearing like houdini? and football camps are open and no frank the tank either....some regulars missing in action round here

Jose,
Did you see the call on BJ Upton last night....totally rediculas and the umps are standing by the call.

Easily one of the worst calls I have ever seen.  Rays pxp man (and future MLB Hall of Fame announcer) DeWayne Staats was incensed.  In my 8 years with the team, I never even heard him raise his voice.  He thought it was the worst call he had ever seen and he has been calling MLB games since the early 70s.

(LLPP Trivia Time: Which classic 80s movie opens with audio from a DeWayne Staats broadcast?)

The thing that kills me about the call is the umpire saying that BJ flinched towards second so he must have been going.  But then he just stands there, for 3-4 seconds, without moving...how does that demonstrate an intent to advance?

theicdubbz

That ump will get sent back to the minors.

Horrendous call!  He was probably gambling on the game.

I love your boy's call: "That's not just a terrible call, that's unconscionable!"

Is this article talking about the same play?? If so, A-Rod should hire MLB's spinmaster:

http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080819&content_id=3333414&vkey=news_tb&fext=.jsp&c_id=tb

Different play all together......he was apologizing for not hustling on a play on Monday night.....the bad call occurred on Tuesday....

maxpower

My bad. They were linked on the same wrapup, confused me.

JQV

the hustle is the clincher for me.  BJ has been all over the headlines for refusing to run to first (and on Monday for refusing to run to second on a ball off the top of the wall) why the hell would you assume he was going to start hustling right then?

dewcrew88

Who CARES about the Rays?!  ;D [/soxfanboi]
