The first one is A Flock of Seagulls.

Is the second one Cinderella?  Not ashamed to admit I've got some of their tunes on my play list.

+K to Gordon for knowing Cinderella, mostly that was picked for the drummers leopard print leotard.  I can just see RT and PBR fighting over who gets to wear it.

On another note, Only in Texas.

Ya gotta love Texas.  JT heard that in this rural area that police are far away from the school and that they have a growing criminal element.  50 teachers carrying would certainly give bad people pause.  If you had more law abiding citizen's packing heat crime would go down.

JT thinks that all military, former military, former law enforcement should be allowed to carry a concealed handgun in all 50 states.  That might offer more protection for offices, school campuses, post offices, malls and the like.

JT actually thinks any law abiding citizen should be able to carry in all 50 states, but that thought is too rational to actually happen.  When JT leaves NJ, it will be for State with better gun laws than the oppressive "Dirty Jersey"

+K to KS for remembering Reb Beach.  Somewhere Vito Bratta of White Lion is smiling.

"WAIT..WAAAAAAIT...I NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO LOVE YOU"

On an unrelated note, Kickoff 2008 is published.

Buy it.  Read it.  Or better yet, do both.

JT remembers spinning White Lion back in college on the radio station.  It was in heavy rotation back then.

How silly of me to think someone might be reading Kickoff when there's a discussion of Journey's video budget, metal bands' nut-hugging outfits and the keytar going on! You've got all year to talk football. This is so right now.

QuoteWow, gordonmann really went out on a limb "guessing" the identity of those bands, considering the first picture is flock.jpg and the other one is cinderella512.jpg.

Yes, but you're assuming a level of technical knowledge I don't have. I guessed those based on my own music collection.

Not sure which part of that is more sad.

One of the several benefits of living in LA is that you can often catch random shows at smaller clubs on Sunset.

For instance, a couple of weeks ago TGP's buddy and guitarist invited TGP to see the reunion of the "Lynch Mob" at the Key Club (cap 200).  The original singer, George Lynch (note to George, plastic surgery and steroids don't mix) on guitar, Ozzy's old bassist and Fred Coury (Cinderella) on drums.

It was shredderiffic.  After the gig TGP had cocktails with Billy Sheehan (DLR, Mr Big, basically one of the most bad ass bass players ever).

Only in LA.

Back at Union, U89 saw a Cinderella, Ratt, Whitesnake show somewhere in the Capital District.  We had general admission floor seats.....thank God U89 was tipping the scales at 240....even at that weight, U89 got taken off his feet a few times and 'moved' about 30 feet.

The show, by the way, was AWWWSOME.  U89 still owns about 3 CD's from each of the above......or are they 8-Tracks??

BOL...kmac w/ the "keytar" reference!!!! Almost forgot about that 80's staple instrument....

gordonmann

GM didn't know keytar was a word but it makes perfect sense!

George Lynch was in another hairtacular band, but GM couldn't remember which so he consulted Wikipedia.  It was Dokken.

Fancy vests.

bman

Bman's college roommate sophmore year, left college to be a roadie with Whitesnake...

never heard from him again....

+K to anyone that makes a Winger reference   ...what a hoot!

PS...Journey sucked when they were new and (were uncool even when they were "cool"...) they still suck now....

Plus K to reg for calling everyone out on that...

Bman would like to know everyones age on this board, when "Wheel in the Sky" was released...

Correct.  The highlight of the Lynch Mob show (other than the Sheehan meeting and 20 jack and cokes) was the playing of "Mr Scary"

Which is appropriate given that TGP was only about 10 ft from Lynch.

KS was 16 (found the release date) when Wheel in the Sky was released.  KS is a gray haired old fart, that song was released 30 years ago.

KS remembers watching this when it aired.   Check out Neals fro.

Back to the 80's.
