unionfan

So unionfan has not pasted for many moons due to a forgotten login and laziness but he has returned with a new, thought sadly lowercase, user name.

In reappearing unionfan begins by humbly acknowledging the immortals of the LLPP, to whom he bows.

unionfan also thanks the guru for his ban on politics because unionfan despises politics, especially on LLP, as they only make it more difficult to locate important comments, like TOTD and the current temperature of 'gro's urine, quickly.

Finally, unionfan notes that he has spoken with dutchmen in the know and can report that due to lack of skill players, this year's plan for the dutchmen is to milk every second of the clock, slow the game down, and play three yards and a cloud of dust.  Please discuss.

That's all.

Tags is too lazy to scroll back & read today's comments so it may have already been discussed inbetween Karl Rove's comments, but can someone please remove Chad Johnson from sports in general? What a toolbag.

Poor Michael Jackson.  The dood is out of his tree.  Had he played Division III football, his bizzare behavior could be laughed off as mere eccentricity.

Imagine what a good effect on his life that doing something normal like going to a small college in Upstate New York would have had.  Even if he had only been a kicker or punter, the friendship and comraderie of playing on a team may have helped mitigate some of his social disorders.

I mean, look at all of us, our social disorders are here for everyone to enjoy on LLPP.  :D

At this point in our lives, there are many here who can't even run as fast as Michael Phelps can swim.  (Unless that run is too the beer cooler or the bathroom.)

That guy is one of the most phenomenal athletes of all time, and from his interviews he seems like a genuinely decent person...about as down to earth as a kid who spends his entire life trying to be the best in field can be.

unionfan how do you think the Dutchmen will do? I am going to an intersquad scrimmage today and will report what I see. I know Audino was concerned about the lack of talent and athletes last year and I can't say I blame him. It will be interesting to see how Gourrier plays at receiver this season. I hope the Dutch have some success. As much as I am not an RPI fan I am a fan of Robertson, I think he is very composed and talented. Has anyone heard or seen his receiving core this camp? I am curious to see if his supporting cast can support his skill. He deserves a successful senior year.

'gro

Gro speaks for the entire LLPP and welcomes unionfan back into the flock.  Gro's never one to count union out so early in the year... what brought about this lack of skilled players?

unionfan

union appreciates the warm welcome back, particulary from the Godfather.

unionfan sees a 5-4 kind of year for the dutchmen, especially given that there are four (maybe five) playoff-potential teams on their schedule.  the defense will be decent but not dominating like the old days, and the offense will be pretty one-dimensional--strong RBs, but not much else.  Kind of like last year.

As for skill players, unionfan is not sure how we got so dry.  Other than the brief Angilette/Twitchell years, Union has never had anything like a marque reciever, but usually we've had a decent QB.  Plenty of young kids around to try to step into that role this year--but that's where we were last year, and no one ever did.  It's hard to sustain drives and win games when you can't reliably throw the ball, and even harder when you turn it over a lot when you do throw (see: last year).

dlippiel

I agree unionfan about the possibility of a 5-4 record. I think the defense may surprise us a bit but ultimately I think it comes down on Cattelier's shoulders. I think he showed flashes of solid passing ability last season until he got injured. After watching some of the scrimmage today I just don't know how this union team will match up against a pretty tough schedule. For the first time in a few years I think I may have to wait until the kickoff at Springfield to formulate any valid opinion of the identity of this team. Maybe even after the Springfield game because who can tell anything from watching a team deal with the triple option? Wouldn't it be great to have an Archiletta and Twitchell back?

One of the several benefits of living in LA is that you can often catch random shows at smaller clubs on Sunset.

For instance, a couple of weeks ago TGP's buddy and guitarist invited TGP to see the reunion of the "Lynch Mob" at the Key Club (cap 200).  The original singer, George Lynch (note to George, plastic surgery and steroids don't mix) on guitar, Ozzy's old bassist and Fred Coury (Cinderella) on drums.

It was shredderiffic.  After the gig TGP had cocktails with Billy Sheehan (DLR, Mr Big, basically one of the most bad ass bass players ever).

Only in LA.

For a second there, K-Mack thought you meant the Lench Mob was back together.

But would Ice Cube really take a break from movies to give JD, Sir Jinx and Chilly Chill some more work? (has no idea if those are the right guys or not; please someone on the LLPP represent for 1990 hip-hop)

Representin right here K-mack... "gorillas in da mist" was a must own album.  I think every teenager with a columbia house account had it in the 90's.

what a joyus time it was when that 1st columiba house shipment came with those 10-12 cd's. little did you know you had just been scammed.

I knew I could count on you 'gro.

Good look on that article, TGP. And I see you too, uPBR!

I think it's about that time for an LLPP poll on which weekend ATN should come upstate :)
