MIYH is a math teacher PBR.  The problem just wants you to know state that 2,3,4,5,6 aren't factors of whatever number you look at.  It has to be a multiple of 7, but not those other numbers.  So it can't be 21 (sorry KS).

There are multiple answers.  The first one is 301.  It's modular arithmetic, but that's nothing that MIYH learned in middle or high school.  How old is your kid?

you are correct miyh...kid is in 7th grade....KS what in the world were u thinkin!! LOL...come on my brotha your not even in the ball park pbr assumes you were kidding around. so factor in a tired kid after school all day and sports after school and pbr who was fried and try explaining that  if you take a number that leaves a remainder of 1 when you
divide by 2 and add 2 to that number, you get another number that
leaves a remainder of 1. So if you add any multiple of 2, you still
get a number that leaves a remainder of 1 when you divide by 2. same thing with 3....etc ....

EDIT: miyh correct it was 301 and other numbers higher w/ a factor of 7

KS read it that she put them into a group of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and with one left over.  KS just added up those groups.  KS was thinking simple, the stalkerette is only in 1st grade.  WTF are they teaching now, KS was still doing basic math, with some introductory alegebra in 7th grade.

PBR,

Are you kidding me?  The only answer to a problem like that is "google".  In some school disctricts I think they actually let you just C&P the hyperlink in the problem box.....others make you go through the hassle of manually transcribing from soft to hard copy.

It's Science!!  Tell your kid to catch a late pass and get with this thing called the "interweb"

Dr. Wilkinson's answer was like a woman giving directions. Gro was confoosed as hell trying to remember all the little rules and reminders.

Dr. Rob's answer was like a man giving directions. He wrote down a clear formula and solved it.

MIYH is glad he was correct.  Especially after 'gro googled it.  MIYH teaches 7th grade out here in Denver, but we're not doing anything remotely close to that.  My regular kids are doing basic linear graphs and honors is working with scale factor.  Pretty impressive if any of lilPBR's classmates actually got the answer.

That ish was tough.  And JT was good at Math through college.  W/o google JT wouldn't have come close.

Union has former QBs at both WR and possibly FB.   Can you say trick play ?

Reading the question, Rolevio knew it had to be a multiple of 7 that ended in 1, but didn't want to bother figuring out more.

dc88 didn't even want to think about it, he's just glad someone else got the answer first. dc88 isn't good at math whatsoever, that's why he's a journalist!

Interesting article in the Gazette today regarding the Dutchmen. From the article you would think that we are going to be very strong, especially with what seems to be a strong showing at Brown. I love that Audino believes in his players and recognizes that they are working their tales off. I think Catellier has a lot on his shoulders. I think Audino feels that much of 08's potential success is based on the success of Catellier. It is going to be interesting to see just how the Dutchmen play this weekend out in Springfield. I am really looking forward to the trip and seeing this Union team play. For some reason I do love to watch the triple option. Springfield looks as if they are still able to move the ball even without Sharpe (even though the win at Fitchburg doesn't tell us much). I can't wait for all the drunk Pride students to yell at us from the dorms behind the stands... I just hope the game isn't postponed by lightning as usual!

superman57

So here is the dumbness that superman deals with... at superman's work people were working on the roof, to fix a mistake that was made a year ago... they were setting up cement type stuff up there and were doing it right next to the air vent... superman starts smelling a wet concrete/spray paint smell and is getting dizzy, supermans supervisors are both VERY asthmatic.. so they evacuate the office, when the COO of the company goes up to the roof to check out what is going on, brilliant roofer says oh wow, I thought that might be a problem, but brilliant roofer did not take the 30 seconds it would of taken to close of the air vent and solve the problem...

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.
