Kind of like all those "loyal" Sox fans that abandoned Fenway in the 8th inning of a 1-1 game last night.

PBR...

lehman bros. is well on its way to going under unless someone steps in at the last minute and gives them a cash infusion...shame one of the oldest investment banks on the street. the hits just keep coming as soverign bank a large regional bank lost over $600 million on the fannie/freddie mess w/ the govt bailing them out. all shareholder equity in the bank will be gone per numerous analysts. many other regional banks may very well go under due to the hits they will take losing 100's of millions of dollars. govt gets paid first everybody else after....

JT's loyal, but he's also a realist.  This isn't the year.  It happens.  He will be going to one more game to say goodbye to Yankee Stadium.

SF remembers Rick Rescorla, Security Adviser-Morgan Stanley, who saved hundreds of MS employees....including SF's brother, who had arrived two days earlier for training.

SF can't imagine what it would have been like to actually work there like PBR and have to go back to work.

good question jt, really not sure on that one. if so they better build a new jail because there is plenty of blame to go around. so many people are losing their jobs and savings etc because of this its awful. it has just about worked its way thru the large banks as lehman was 4th largest investment bank on the street. wachovia is rumored to be in very bad shape as well but look like they are slowly right'ing the ship. Now the regional banks will start to take their hits as preferred stock that was bought at $25/share by regional banks in freddie/fannie now is trading at $2/share hence soverign and many other banks have lost everything and will go under as a result or be forced to sell out and merge.  Reg keep your money in your mattress...

Reg bought an investment property for Pops to work on this year to keep him busy and my money working at more than 3.30% APR.
I really think this whole thing is going to make alot of people broke, however, wise investors, very well off.  Let's hope I fall under the latter.

Never thought I'd say it... but those Rays are tough. Last night was just a matter of attrition, though... who would break? Of course the answer is Mike "Why is Theo still paying me" Timlin.

RE: Lehman

Tags fully understands how everyone & everything is all tied together in this mess, and that if big banks go under it will be an awful domino effect, but Tags would like to see these clowns lose their shirts because of their eagerness to make a quick buck.

Won't happen, but it would be nice to see the ultimate market correction.

What bothers me is that we have hearings over Enron, Gas Prices, and Steroids, but nothing on the horizon for a collapse that dwarfs Enron.  This could potentially add trillions to the debt.  This is a bi-partisan issue.  If it gets swept under the rug, it will be a major injustice to the citizens of the United States.

I've started emailing, faxing the US AG, Pres and my Reps. I'll probably make some calls too.

JT is is out of most stocks.  Still take a few option plays every so often, but JT has been treading lightly.

FR is thinking of the 17 FDNY friends his family lost at Engine 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9 (the "Pride of Midtown") and others at Rescue 1 on w43rd St.  They are still very much missed.

Man I have never been more ready for the D III season to rev up, since I can barely stand to watch my Yankees at this point.

Any predictions on the Hobart-Dickinson matchup?

Should find out what both teams are made of real fast.

Week 1 Preview:
Dickinson College (1-0) vs. Hobart College (0-0)

The year was 1992.  Hobart College was a day away from its first season opener against the highly touted Dickinson College football team.  Just before practice ended, the newly appointed Hobart football Coach Bill Maxwell addressed a huddle of approximately 80 Statesmen players.  It was then that the late Coach Max stated this simple mantra that has come to define the Statesmen Football program:

“To be the best, you have to play the best.”

Coach Max knew that to move Hobart’s program to the next level, scheduling games against the Dickinson’s of D3 football was a step in the right direction.  In 2008, Hobart has stepped above and beyond that next level earning six trips to the NCAA Tournament since 2000 and posting 11 consecutive winning seasons, an unparalleled feat in program history.  This season, D3football.com ranked the Statesmen #32 out of 239 D3 football programs in their preseason “Kickoff” media guide.

For the 17th consecutive season, the Statesmen will face off against the Red Devils from Carlisle, PA.  Last season, the Statesmen lost a heartbreaker 30-27 in OT at Dickinson.  The Red Devils finished the 2007 season with a 9-2 record including a victory in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southeast Bowl (16-10 over Waynesburg, PA).

Dickinson (1-0) opened their 2008 campaign with a rain-drenched 34-7 victory over Grove City (PA).  The Red Devils primarily relied on their rushing attack gaining 240 yards while holding the Wolverines’ to only 50 yards on the ground.

Dickinson RB Greg Lord led the Red Devils with 119 yards on 19 carries, scoring three TDs.  QB Ian Mitchell added 51 yards rushing on 12 carries, scoring one rushing TD for Dickinson.  Mitchell also threw for 110 yards (6 completions on 10 attempts with one INT).   WR Pat O’Connor was Mitchell’s primary target, collecting three receptions for 88 yards.

Prediction:

The Dickinson game will come down to Hobart’s defensive line and linebacker corps shutting down the Red Devils’ rushing game.  Mitchell is very mobile QB, but his arm and accuracy is questionable at best.  If Hobart can shut down the Dickinson running backs and force Dickinson into 3rd and long situations, expect Hobart’s experienced defensive backs and linebackers to come up with a couple of interceptions.

Hobart SR QB and Captain Rich Doyle has some familiarity against the Dickinson defensive personnel, having played a significant role in last year’s season opener.  Doyle will be expected to manage the game and move the chains behind Hobart’s experienced offensive line (four returning starters) and running backs (two returning lettermen).

The last two games between Hobart and Dickinson have been decided by a total of six points, but I don’t expect a close one this season.

TGP likes Hobart winning 35-17 at the Boz on Saturday.

All games will air live on WEOS (www.weos.org) and home games will feature real-time statistics and live streaming video that can be accessed from the team’s home page (www.hws.edu).

Is this comming from a Tampa fan where games are still 50% sox fans and 50% empty seats?  Even when they are in first place?  10K empty seats for the yankee series and 20K (over 50%) empty for the redsox?

I was there last night (till the 10th), and there was 90% attendence till the 9th I would say Jose.....

I really dont think you can ever say anything about the loyalty of the redsox fans.

Celtics and even Patriots sure, but the sox fans are sick in the head.  Highest ticket prices in the country and they still sell out every single game.
