morgan stanley sukin air right now rumors are running rampant they will go under and goldman sachs rumors floating as well...this time next week there may be no banks left...

JT's big clients in Finance are:

AMEX
UBS Painewebber
Deloitte
JPM/ Chase
Barclays

pbr... heard any negs on these companies?

ubs and barclays in big trouble record losses and little cash...barclays is stealing parts of lehman. problem still is the same for everyone credit crunch w/ no cash available and holding all these bonds that are junk and having to write them down (very short explanation) but until they address this problem up stream not at the holders level your going to see banks continue to fail

Bailout palooza continues.  $25 Billion proposed for the automobile industry.  Ugh.  And since Michigan is up for grabs in November,  both candidates are for it.

Yeah and drilling for more natural gas and oil is stupid.  >:(

"When there is no penalty for failure, failures proliferate." –George Will

offshore drilling bill already approved in the house and on its way to the senate and 2 different bills already being pushed in the senate for drilling offshore.

The bill in the House is all bread and no meat.

Permanently ban access to about 97 percent of the undersea oil lying within 50 miles of the California coast.
*
Continue the ban on energy production in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.
*
Impose a brand-new ban on oil and gas leases in Alaska's coastal waters out to 50 miles.
*
Not allow states that approve new leases beyond 50 miles to share royalties with the federal government, thus stripping any financial incentive for states to stand up to environmental pressure groups, who will continue to agitate against any new oil and gas operations offshore.

This is not a compromise.

pbr,

That's fine.  JT was just ranting about the teetering company/industry of day.  JT wasn't picking sides on this one, he's mad at both.  No political statements.  Just frustration.

Thankfully viagra (a big account for JT) is not subject to financial regulation. ;)

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Top 10

1. Ithaca
2. RPI
3. Cortland State
4. Fisher
5. Hobart
6. Delaware Valley
7. Albright
8. Widener
9. Montclair State
10. Union

dewcrew very interesting top ten. Do you really think RPI would take Fisher head to head? Don't get me wrong I love seeing 3 LL teams in the top ten. RPI to me seems very unproven especially after losing to New Jersey last year (who I felt talent wise RPI was far superior) and beating listless Endicott last week. Also even though I am an avid Dutchmen fan I think this weekends game vs the mules will tell if they deserve the top 10. I also think that even though Cortland let Morrisville score on them they are a dangerous team and are clearly deserving of #3. Overall though I always like your rankings and appreciate them. Just getting some talking going. Also great "ATE" column, thanks for that.

I think its tough to argue with any east poll at this point in the season.  I think you can make a case for 4 teams in the top spot (Ithaca, RPI, SJF and Del Val), and any of the rest could be 2-10 easily.

It would just be tough (or unfair) to rank some teams over others due to last years performances (and knowing who is and who isnt comming back)

ie: Cortland over Ithaca, Union over Hobart, etc....

Thanks for the kudos. At this point, I think a game between RPI and Fisher would be very close... I might be inclined to say RPI could take it, but it would be very close.

I think at this point it might depend where the game is played and the weather could play a huge factor... what would be an interesting point to me is that Fisher has shown it is pretty tough in the passing game and that is RPI's forte

Yeah definitely. But I still think the game would be close any way you look at it.

DewCrew....thanks for the shout out for Alfred's come-from-behind win over a respectable FDU-Florham team. Just a correction...Nick Clark plays for AU and had three sacks of the FDU QB, a talented Bill Winters.

pretty good top 10...eventhough pbr is a alumni/fan of dvc maybe a tad high right now...although pbr thinks dvc/widener/albright are all very close this year. if dvc beats salisbury then they should skyrocket up. also leaving muhlenberg off the list is interesting. other than those debatable points its a pretty good list as people said w/ the rpi/sjf debate etc...
