Top 10

1. Ithaca
2. Cortland State
3. RPI
4. St. John Fisher
5. Hobart
6. Delaware Valley
7. Albright
8. Worcester Tech
9. Montclair State
10. Hartwick

dewcrew nice ATE as usual, thanks. Very interesting RPI at #3 and WPI at #8. Don't you think WPI is very suspect?I would however LOVE to see WPI take RPI this weekend. Do you see RPI dropping its typical game against Rochester or SLU this season? What do you think about Bart? They have played two better teams then their inner league rival at #3. Hartwick at #10 with a solid Boltus but no D? I hope you know I always respect your polls I just like to talk about them.

re: WPI
They still are 3-0. You have to beat who your schedule says you have to face.
re: RPI
Maybe. I think Jimmy Robertson has done a nice job so far getting used to the rest of his offense.
re: Bart
I had them a little lower to start and it's hard to jump teams when they don't lose.
re: Hartwick
yeah. A couple of teams could have gone there. 42 against IC defense is pretty good.

BOSTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A dozen athletes, including six retired NFL players,
will donate their brains to science when they die so U.S. researchers can study the effects of concussions.
Former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson is one of the six former NFL players among the dozen athletes who have agreed to assist in a study by the Boston University School of Medicine's Center for the Study of Traumatic
Encephalopathy, The New York Times reported Tuesday. Johnson, 35, said multiple concussions have resulted in "permanent and degenerative" problems with memory and depression.
The newspaper said the center will announce Thursday that former Houston Oilers linebacker John Grimsley, who died this year at the age of 45, had chronic traumatic encephalopathy -- a condition often associated with boxers.

Hobart 21 - Carnegie Mellon 16

The post-game wrap ups focused on the record setting days that both senior linebackers Justin Hager (21 tackles) and Jeff Sanders (20 tackles) that broke the prior record held by Jesse Truly '96 (19 tackles).  Another highlight was senior RB Anthony Hobaica's 111 yards rushing, marking the first time a Hobart RB had gained 100 yards rushing since Nov. 11, 2006 when Doug Blakowski '07 ran for 118 yds at the University of Rochester.

Although these achievements are all well and good, TGP would like raise the next couple of points:

1.   The linebacking corp should not be making 40+ tackles in a game.  Ever.  If they are, that means the defensive line sucks.
2.   If the defense is giving up an average of 219.5 yards rushing (ranking last in the Liberty League in rushing defense), the defensive line sucks.
3.   If the defense only has one sack in two games, the defensive line sucks.

Notice a trend here?

Needless to say, Hobart's DL needs to start stepping it up.  At least it seems like DT Ryan Aruck is living up to the hype in that he tallied 11 tackles on Saturday.  Still, the rest of the DL will need to follow suit so Hobart can improve their rushing defense.

Week 3 Preview:        vs. Susquehanna University Crusaders (1-2)

This week's game starts inter-league play for the Statesmen.  Since the Susquehanna game notes are already up on the Hobart website (see attached link), TGP is not going to spend a lot of time analyzing the game.  Ken DeBolt and the Sports Info group at Hobart have already done a great job there.  The basic run down on the SU Crusaders is that they aren't a strong rushing team (although that may change after this Saturday) and are starting a first year QB who's only thrown for 103 yards so far this season.  With the Crusaders allowing about 400 yards on defense a game, TGP expects Hobart to find the end zone early and often.

http://campus.hws.edu/athletics/hobart/football/2008notes/su.pdf

Hobart beat SUC last season by almost 30 points and nearly rolled up 600 yards in total offense.  That being said, TGP is going against RT's bold upset prediction and has Hobart winning in a blow-out, 49-14.

This week's game is going to be televised on Time Warner Cable (I think via a tape delay) and live coverage will be available via WEOS radio or online at www.WEOS.org.  Live stats will also be available on the Hobart Football website.  ECAC TV (www.ecac.tv) is another nice service that provides live webcasts for a reasonable fee of $7.95.  Don't expect the picture to look like "College Game Day", but if you want to actually see the game and can't make it to Geneva, it's a pretty good alternative.  Other Eastern Teams' games (Union, etc) are also available on this service.

market up 212 in early trading. Is it a coincedence that TGP produces such a nice post early in his workday?? Someone needs to do a study on market movement as it correlates to the length and content of TGP's posts.

$700B worth of good news!!!!

When 82 dies, he will donate all of his posts to D3.com so they can study the affect that one's post content has on Karma levels

Any LLPP'ers see the current issue of SI?  There is a big pic of the Tennessee center at the bottom of the pile untying an opponent's shoe (the opponent is standing in front of the prone center).

Funny ish.
