down goes boston (and u89) all in one day...

That was a kick in the rear if I ever felt one last night.  The sox need to do a few things for next year.

-Find a replacement for Varitek

-Find hitters in those 7-9 spots that can bat for over .250

-Find one more power hitter

Attention PBR... Attention PBR...

That fantasy football freight train that ran you over last night was named chappy sinclair... gro will now pat himself on the back for taking a flyer on Donnie Avery (not that it mattered!).

good in the HuddLLe last night.  The MMA coach.. he's a coach, you couldn't picture a guy like that selling insurance or something. Good interviews, Savasli handled the questions well.

well done chappy as 2/3 of pbrs starters had a bye week and pbr knew a beat down was coming and chappy used pbr for target practice and strafing runs....

Thanks, 'gro.  We really urge anyone who wasn't able to listen live to go to the archive at http://blogtalkradio.com/LLRecap -- This is one of those shows that really gave us more of an in-depth view of the type of quality individuals that are inside the game of Division III football, especially in our very own league, since we were able to interview them for longer than normal.

Granted, some of you might want to just listen to the part where Eren Savasli calls RT and me "old."  Perhaps our most classic moment in ITH history.  :)

The monkeyspankers are worse than Garnets team was a couple of years ago.  Cougar Milk still has two players who don't play until tonight and KS players are done.  This team sucks.

Man, U89's ClownPunchers and the Red Sox go down the same day....not good....

Congrats to Supes.

RT get the sleds ready, mt. snow in vt. opened today. loveland and a-basin have been open for a week in colorado. long range models show snow in ~8-10 days in pa.  at pbrs house and north...good stuff. the boyz playing in the LL and E8 weather may be a factor in the next several games. going to get quite cold by the end of the month and lake effect snows are already being forecasted.

Instead of grumbling about the Sox, TGP will offer up a brief Hobart-MMA preview:

Hobart (4-1, 2-1) will kick off the second half of the season this weekend in Kings Point, Long Island when the Statesmen face the Mariners of the Merchant Marine Academy (2-5, 1-3).  The MMA dropped it's third consecutive league game last weekend, falling 30-14 to the University of Rochester (2-4, 2-2).  The Mariners offense was shut out in the first half, with the only points scored being a 61 yard interception return by MMA SO DB Karl Heimbrock.

The Yellowjackets defense bottled up the Mariners' offense only allowing 200 total yards on the day.  SR RB J.J. Watson was the leading rusher (58 yards) for the MMA and scored their only offensive touchdown on a four yard run in the fourth quarter.  SO QB Derrick Ventre passed for 143 yards (17 for 35) with 2 interceptions.  FY WR Mike Mitchell was Ventre's favorite target collecting seven catches for 70 yards.

Given the extra week to prepare (and getting over that bitter defeat to Union the week before), TGP will be disappointed in anything other than a Hobart rout this weekend.  MMA ranks at the bottom of the league in total offense and defense.  However, they do have better stats than Hobart in a few key areas such as turnover margin (+7 vs. +2) rushing defense (130.7 vs. 184.2), sacks (17 vs. 7), and red zone defense (58.1 % vs. 81.2 %).

Last year Hobart pummelled MMA 55-9.  Although TGP doesn't see Hobart putting up as many points this year, the Statesmen should be able to improve their rushing defense stats against MMA's league worst 66.6 yards/game average.  The Hobart DL should also be able to get pressure on Ventre who's been sacked a league leading 21 times for a total of -143 yards.

Hopefully the Statesmen will make a statement (pun intended) early in this one .

TGP is planning on checking out the Mike Toop interview from ITH since he missed the original broadcast.

TGP predicts a 28-7 Bart win on Saturday.

I'm still mystified by that MMA rout of Coast Guard.  I figure with their national recruiting base, Coast Guard can't ever be that bad, can they?  Granted, they're not doing too well in the NEFC this season, but that only deepens the mystery.  Maybe the Secretary's Cup is a fierce rivalry that causes the laws of physics to be repealed, as good rivalries do.

Is Coast Guard (Coast Guard?) still running the triple option? They have a national but unique recruiting pool, then the task of trying to adapt the players to the system instead of vice versa.

No, Coast Guard runs the no-huddle spread 100% of the time.

Advice:

Down in Trinidad on some business... If anyone tries to sell you a vacation here don't go..

Lot's of crime and not a tourist spot.  As I have to come hear a few more times, I may try and see Tobago which they say is pretty nice.

Catching up on the LL banter.  Went straght from the Susq game to Trinidad.  Was very impressed with the Engineers who played a very complete game Sat. 'cept for the late punt block.  Pavletz came off a 270+ yard game against Rochester and was held to 76.  As mentioned before the kid is a good back low center of gravity and hard to knock off his feet at 225.

The O line receivers and Robertson had a really strong game.  Robertson made only 2 throws into a bit of coverage something he did a few too many times last year.  He was accurate and had time to look down the field which was something that was a bit of a probelm early in the year.  When he was pressured he took off and made positive yardage.  He is a bit underrated for his running ability.  His only fault when he runs is sometimes he looks to punish people downfield.. at his size and strength he can and does do it but I think a few more slides would make alot of folks happier.

Making the trip up to SL on Sat.  RPI just needs to stay focused..

Now to complete my LL fix I need to catch up with the LL radio archive and I will be set till Sat...

Thanks again guys for your effort on the broadcast.  Makes the stay in the Holiday Inn Express in Trinidad bearable!

Thanks JU.  They should have an easier time recruiting for that style than the flexbone they used to run.
