I don't know what got it all started between Frank and U89 but you boys should sit down and talk. Perhaps have a nice bottle of merlot and some brie and resolve your differences.

Nice work Garnet...spoken like a true Union guy...hitting them in their hot buttons!!

(by the way, RT googled on "bree" by accident....nice results)

Garent for UN!!!!

Dude, RPI is not good enough to 'phone it in'!!! Only good teams like Ithaca and Cortland can do that.

why do you always find a reason to badmouth your own school?? If it isn't the scheduling, now they're not in the same league as Cortland or IC? RPI has done as much as either of those 2 teams on a national level in the last 10 years....man, RT doesn't know about you LD....

Dude, are you serious?  That was the most sarcastic post of all time.  My point was that when RPI wins an ECAC game, it doesn't matter to anyone.  But when teams like Ithaca and Cortland lose to teams like Union and RPI, it's because they were too good to play in that game and they didn't show.  Always an excuse for those 'better' programs.  My post is the exact opposite of your response.

Jeeeeesh...

And I think I deserve an apology.

As do I for FR's questioning my truthfulness on the vote issue....FR is now badmouthing me on other boards as well.....talk about class and maturity level.

If Frank has this big of a problem with me, he should approach me in person at a game and not hide behind a computer screen.....to state his concerns.

No stones for that....

In fairness to FR U89, Franks posts always seem to be down the middle of the line even as he is openly a Union Fan.....and in the few instances when he does state his own opinions, he ALWAYS has what is best for the Union Players in mind. His agenda, is that the Union players have the best possible experience with their football careers as possible. Steve Angiletta himself came on these boards last week and personally thanked Frank for all that he does for the football program.

Union is not getting the administrative support that they have gotten in the past and it shows in their record. Frank is not afraid to point this out for it is his goal to change things for the reason stated above....for the players!

I have never questioned FR's commitment to the players

Port had a rough start this year but seem to be climbing back to respectability with 3 straight wins.  They'll likely make themselves eligible for the ECAC's this year.

Port vs SJF in the ECAC's anyone???

Two teams separated by 30 miles could equal big time numbers at the gate...

ECAC bowls are like minor league playoffs - nobody knows about them, everyone has previous plans, and the seats are half full.

I agree. I posted this on the E8 board, but I've always hated them. They're often played during Thanksgiving break, so a lot of kids aren't there. Half the time, you've got a disinterested team who's so dissappointed by the regular season, they phone it in.The other half of the time, one team is so angry and being left out of the NCAA's they obliterate their opponent. I've yet to see IC play a moderately entertaining ECAC game. 1998 and 2004 they were angry and destroyed people and in 1999 they had no desire to play and lost. Cortland also famously phoned one in one season after missing out following a 9-1 season.

You referring to the SJF-CORT ECAC game of 2003?  There is a 3rd scenario...a team on the rise embraces the opportunity for a ECAC game and blasts the stuffin out of a perennial powerhouse.  That was sweet as many Cortland fans were so very rowdy and cocky sitting on Fisher 'side' in the 1st qu....they had a good fan base there as I recall.

I was actually refering to the 2006 game (I think) where Cortland lost to RPI 26-7

I think there are so many 1-loss teams in the East that use of the secondary criteria was probably inevitable.

As a reminder, we have the strength of schedule numbers on the site for your reference.

Team, OWP, OOWP
Ithaca, .544, .582
St. John Fisher, .478, .495

FWIW, the NCAA also has Plymouth State's in-region record wrong. It's 6-1.

With respect to Fisher, I suspect you're right, and as soon as the committee looked at overall record, SJF's candidacy would have to suffer big time.

That leaves the next mystery, how 7 one-loss teams squeezed in ahead of Husson, whose record is undefeated both in-Region and in-Division, if I'm reading it right.  It appears to me that Husson is really suffering for Springfield's 2008 ineptitude, but it's not as if their OWP/OOWP is orders of magnitude worse than RPI's.  But RPI has the win over ranked WPI, Husson doesn't.

I posted the link for SOS. Take a look at Husson's OWP. I think you're underselling how bad it is.

I posted the link for SOS. Take a look at Husson's OWP. I think you're underselling how bad it is.

I looked at it.  As I mentioned, it doesn't appear to be THAT much lower than RPI's.

Team    Reg. record  Reg. Win %  Opp Win %  O-O Win %

RPI        6-0               1.000         0.420          0.556
Husson   6-0               1.000         0.389          0.508

Husson's OWP is actually better than the South's Nos. 3 and 4, Washington & Jefferson and Trinity.

Washington and Jefferson  6-0   1.000   0.334   0.515
Trinity (Texas)                 6-0   1.000   0.339   0.565

I admit that I've not yet figured out how to use OWP and OOWP relative to other criteria, but it always seems to me that since the highest possible winning percentage has to be worth more than the highest possible OWP/OOOWP, that all things being equal, winning percentage deserves higher priority than OWP/OOWP.

I saw Cortland play that year and I was unimpressed.  Even if they didnt "phone it in" they would have lost 23-7.

Thats lame anyway using that excuse.

But wait, are we sure RPI didn't "mail it in" versus Ithaca in 2001?
