From this week's Around the Nation:

QuoteIf the unofficial Division III motto is 'play for the love of the game,' then we owe a head-nod (or tip of the hat, if you prefer) to every player and team still out there competing just to compete. The goal will always be to win, but there's something to be said for pushing to get the most out of yourself.

Except in the ECAC Championship Games, when half of all teams just phone it in.

Or maybe it's just half of the winning teams.

Or half of the losing teams.

Whatever, teams phone it in.  In the ECACs.

Dood, would you please give this topic a rest??  Have you never heard of any team in sports, 'mailing it in'.....you act like this is a topic which is alien to you......happens all the time at all levels.

Perhaps you misunderstood.  I didn't write "The goal will always be to win," the No. 2 guy at d3football.com wrote that.

I didn't write "teams just phone it in" to the ECAC championship games, the No. 1 guy at d3football.com wrote that.

I have never heard of any team in NCAA Division III football phoning or mailing it in.

Except possibly your team.   Maybe that's why the subject makes you uncomfortable.

LOL

RT, really........

You need to be on a decent team to have the 'opportunity' to even understand the term, 'Mail it in'.

This is a joke, right?

Tell it to K-Mack, because he just wrote pretty much the opposite in tonight's Around the Nation column.

.....my how times have changed. RT remembers when Shoes week brought all kinds of good smack talk on the board. RT is now reduced to trying to goad U89 into something, ANYTHING. Oh well...

Holladawg....where are you??? Even Union82 for gosh sakes??? Hellllooooo......NNR, Garnet....anyone?????

I am insulted that I was not included on this list... ;D
By the way on the field the U will clearly take back the Dutchmen shoes and resume their former domination of RPI.  The clearly overrated, weak schedule playing, tool dork school of domestic lab rat corn holes where there is like 1 girl for every 50 guys so all right hands are hairy, with a hockey team that gives full scholarships and continues to get man handled each year by a Union team with no scholarships, in a city that doesn't have "real gangs" like Schenectady the Engineers or "red hawks" (stupid to have two names) are going to lose. To me this year will be revenge for 06 when RPI beat the Dutch and (in my mind) deflated U completely to the point where we got our ass handed to us by SJF. In simplex terms I can't wait for the send off of 86' field to be lead by Union. It is the only appropriate way.
