A couple guys voting to not play in an ECAC game is not underperforming in a game (mailing it in).

The whole Union tailback story and Utah's comments came to light to show how the ECAC game is sometimes viewed.  The spinmasters on here turned that into a 'mailing it in' scenario.

I'm so confused about the whole subject though.  Technically speaking, wouldn't a 'snubbed' 9-1 Cortland team from 2006 want to say F You to the committe and blow out a lowly RPI team to show them they made the wrong choice and that they got screwed?  Something tells me they didn't lay down or 'Mail/Phone it in', but more that the committee got it right...

I am understanding U89's comments 100%.  Just because someone might not want to play an ECAC game at one point, when you prepare for that 'last game', you don't go out there hoping to get your ass handed to you do you? No!  You play to win.

Well said Lew!
for the love of the game

Some U players are coming to my school next week to celebrate some great achievements by our young students. What a great academic and athletic institution Union is!

Make sure they don't park the bus in a fire zone...

Dam LD beat me too it.  I didn't want to cross the line, but I think this is a better example:

How did you get a picture of Endicott's travel bus? One they become an "actual" program they may upgrade to YUGO version of the bus.

Nice pic of the bus that brings the RPI girls to campus. All 12 fit in there perfectly.

Dlippiel you haven't seen the pic of LD and his date at the 1999 Clovin Circle block party?

So if the Union players and coaches want to play in the ECAC game this year, and assuming they have the possibility to be potentially afforded that opportunity by the Committee, then U89, based on LD's analysis quoted above, would we agree that Union should play in the ECAC game?

Here we go with you spinning things again....of course they should play in that scenario.  I never said they shouldn't.

Where have I advocated that Union now be allowed to play an ECAC game??

Quote from: TGP on October 29, 2008, 03:03:23 PMTGP agrees.  Hobart's first ever post-season appearance should have been in 93 when Bart upset #2 Buff State.  Of course, RT's darn Engineers then beat the Statesmen the following week killing our first shot at a NCAA berth.

The school - supposedly given the trimester calendar and finals, etc - said Hobart couldn't do an ECAC game, but all the players and coaches sure as hell wanted an extra game.

So it goes.  A real shame for gamers like Bill Palmer, Bobby Wynn, Rich Memenger and co to have an extra game killed by the Dick (HWS Pres) and the AD.

The real kicker of this bitter experience is that the William Smith teams were allowed to participate in post-season play.  The Rev made a big deal about this during a "public announcements" period in one of his classes and nearly started a riot with some hippies and she-males.  (Who had more hair, The Rev cannot be sure, but they all smelled of BO and patchouli.)  This led to The Rev's break-up with his soccer-playing gf who did not find his controversial announcement amusing, since her team was going to post-season play.

This was part of the reason that The Rev stayed away from Hobart for several years and wanted nothing to do with the school.  That was The Rev's senior year, and even though The Rev was just a trainer, he took this slight by the school very personally.

K-Mack regrets to inform the LLPP that he will not be attending The Shoes on Nov. 1, as had been his intention all along.

Despite the lure of direct flights from D.C., knocking a rivalry game off his list (though Pat has seen it live) and seeing '86 Field before it's too late, in the end he was won over by a battle of undefeated teams with a little subtext called the Miracle in Mississippi to further rile up both sides.

It was not an easy decision, and believe me, Albany and Rochester are high on the list of must-see areas that ATN has neglected to date. My goal is still to get a good portion of the LLPP in one place for on game. We will do this eventually, I swear.

RPI fans, feel free to blame Union and their three losses. :)

Well, if KMac wants to miss a potential contributing-to-the-LL Championship game (since Union is still very much alive with three losses), then that sucks.  We even bought extra time for our special pregame show to dedicate to a KMac discussion.  I guess we'll have to revert to our original plan:  Senor RT's debate with tailgaters about "less filling" or "tastes great."

Interesting discussion in ATN this week -- although I wouldn't refer to 3+ teams being alive as a "problem."  The E8 has a problem since its tie and tiebreaker are currently under scrutiny.  The LL will solve its issues on the field or with head-to-head tiebreakers, even at two losses, should that become necessary.  So, this year, like last year, we'll at least KNOW who wins under the remainng scenarios going into the final weekend.

K-Mack doesn't want to miss any games, but his lack of superhuman ability limits him to only being able to be at one game at a time. (though I'll view a game from another team's press box on their wireless network, no questions asked)

K-Mack is thinking about developing some sort of hacking cough to get him out of work on RPI/Hobart Saturday.

I hope you didn't really purchase extra air time for me, although I would be glad to still join you via satellite/cell phone.

Oh, and Rossey, spell my name right.

We did, KMick, but RT has found some ways to use it.  Maybe next time -- oh, wait, it's my last RPI/Union game on the air.

well, RT is glad to learn via the board and not from Frank that we're no longer doing the pregame show after this year even though Frank isn't doing the Union games anymore. So much for traditions....

I don't know about you guys, but I like the bulldogs this weekend.

I initially responded to previous picture posts but had to withdraw for moral reasons and internal damanation issues. I...really don't know what to say?

I would agree....this whole handicapped string is tasteless.

Yea I crossed the line and didn't want to offend anyone.  I deleted it.  I apologize.

That really was LD though.
