FG for RPI

25-12

14 plays, 86 yards, 6 and a half min drive off of a union turnover in the redzone (and union had to burn 2 TO's on the drive)

sounds like rpi is going to win this one.  union still hanging in there though.  definitely giving rpi a good run for their money.  take out the turnovers and union may have had a shot at winning this one.

Definitely, take away the turnovers, give them 3 more td's, have RPI score less, and maybe cause a few turnovers and Union had it in the bag....

labart96

note to ld - you guys only won by 13.  union has more offensive yards than your #1 offense.

it was the defense and special teams that pulled this win out for the enginegros.

Union's getting a little upset at the score, unsportsmanlike penalties.  Is anyone surprised?

The more things change, . . . personal foul calls on the U last 3 plays.  Nasty nasty boys.

Isn't it the scoreboard that matters?

FYI - Sounds like Union players and fans turning sour, taking cheap shots.  Can hear psycho lady screaming like someone is stabbing her.  Kinda wish it were true...Audino, show some class and get a grip on your team.

Kurt wouldn't shut up, I couldn't hear the Shoes Trophy award ceremony being conducted.

Both defenses were outstanding today, it seems.  Is Hobart's D as good as U's was today?

Hobart's D is better - 4th in the country in passing/pass efficiency D.  shut out wpi for 3 qtrs.  team seems to be clicking now when it really counts.

Looking forward to Sunday's LLRecap and discussion leading into the Bart-RPI game/86 finale.

So how did U score enough points to beat Hobart?

that game was almost a month ago.  team has improved considerably since - especially the rush d which was what hurt them back then.

My recap of shoes today: Granted I left after Connelly's pick at the end of the fourth.

First I want to say congratulations to RPI. They played hard today and made the big plays when they had to in order to control the momentum. My hat goes off to Robertson. He is a freaking field general period.

Negatives: Union's special teams was ATROCIOUS! I am getting very tired of this and it takes a lot for me to get annoyed with the team I love. Union lost this game because of special teams play and how it consistently restored momentum to RPI throughout the game. The missing of PAT's is completely unacceptable and until this changes much of the progress Union is making as a team is going to be disrupted. The blocked punt was brutal and worst of all was the HUGE return given up the the Engineers in the third quarter. How the hell does that happen. You work your ass off to get the lead and then just give it right up because of a lack of focus. I don't pretend to know what the cause of this special teams play is but it needs to get addressed ASAP. High school teams kick better extra points then the Dutch.

Positives: (finally because I hate to be negative) I really felt Union played a solid game today. The defense, to me, was FANTASTIC and clearly showed that it has grown. The secondary (aside from giving up the two big pass plays) kept Robertson looking for most of the day with their solid coverage. The U had two sacks and I thought battled a very impressive RPI O line. Connelly is a warrior and I continue to be impressed with his passing ability and athleticism. He took a serious shot today and kept battling. Also nice job Catellier to come in and stay composed when Connelly went out. I thought Coney had a tough game (aside from the run) but was impressed how he continued to battle and fight. The Gallo's are great athletes and will continue to grow. Overall I thought the U played well and I feel this game will go the other way next year.

Moving on: Again much credit to RPI and congratulations you deserved this win and fought for it. I am now however a HUGE pumpkin head for the next week and am totally hoping Bart goes in and sends that ****ty field off to its grave.

I got a chance to speak to one of the players who was flagged for one of the late unsportsmanlike's after the game. I will precede what I am going to say by saying the player who did it fully admits that he jacked a kid up late.

An RPI Player said to this player: "We knocked your QB out and your Running Back is a......" I dont want to finish this, lets just say the word is a word that was used a lot south of the mason-dixon line in the 1950's.

The Union player then proceeded to tell me that he only wishes he had jumped on the kid and continued the beating after the original jacking.

Sounds like Union in fact has a little more class than RPI.
There is no place for things like that in football. It was a great game. A great day for college football. A great day to be at 86 field for its final shoes game. RPI played a great game on defense and special teams and its offense capitalized on the mistakes that union made in all 3 phases but cashing in with TDs instead of FG's. Its DISGUSTS me to have heard this story.

If that indeed was said, I agree that the kid who said it should have been pummelled.  That is ridiculous.

Jacking up a guy late v. using bad words.  I don't see how one behavior is classier than the other.
