Dewcrew, hate to say this, but add 'em up:

1) Cortland
2) E8 Winner
3) LL Winner
4) MAC Winner
5) NEFC Winner
6) Pool C
7) Pool C
8) ?

Unless Husson is a third Pool C in the East (highly doubtful a third Pool C is going to come from this region), somebody has to be moved into this bracket.  I'd rather have Muhlenberg than Mount Union.  I fear right now that MUC is going to be moved back at the top of this bracket no matter what right now.

Dont forget about Washington and Jefferson, they're a pool B...

Frank:

I'll try to get you the MAC scenario if that's useful.

And Washington & Jefferson would be Pool C now.  The conference has an AQ.

Hobart kicks 37 yard field goal as time expires,  a well-deserved 20-17 win.

Silver lining for RPI is 'Wick's loss opens up Pool C a bit.

Not really -- it actually hurt RPI's chances a bit.  Now a Pool C bid is DEFINITELY going to an E8 team, unless there's an upset next week (Ithaca losing to Cortland or SJF losing to Alfred).  RPI has a problem now -- their SoS is not going to look great after next week against MMA.  The only positive is that their loss would be to a Pool A team -- that's somewhat important when balancing Pool C nominees.

Are you drunk Frank?  Pool C to SJF?  If they win they are in, if they lose they have 4 losses.  IC losing to Cortland an upset? Cortland is the favorite....no?  There will only be a Pool C from E8 if SJF wins and IC UPSETS Cortland.

Dude, re-read what I wrote.  I know who the Pool C bid would go to.  However, if either team (SJF - the Pool A hopeful, or Ithaca - the Pool C hopeful) loses (call it an upset if you want to or not) next week, the E8 doesn't get a Pool C bid, most likely.  Sorry that I'm moving too fast for you.

Frank...you said E8 definately gets Pool C...unless certain upsets.  The only way Pool C comes from E8, is with an IC upset of Cortland....the only thing moving too fast is your keyboard...

Maybe I believe Ithaca will beat Cortland.  Ever consider that?

Ok, except that is not what you had posted that I had originally responded to.

No, the PAC is a South Region Pool A conference -- W&J would need to hope for a Pool C bid, and their SoS may end up lower than RPI's.

Anyone wanna talk about RPI's SOS not being important now???

Well what if RPI played Cortaland instead of the cupcakes?

Since you dont you might have an 8-1 RPI getting the bid over an 8-2 Ithaca?

what if Wick had beaten SC?  ;)

You mean taking RPI over a 3 loss SJF with a bunch of close ones?  Thats a little tougher just because IC had played better towards the end and has smoked bad teams.

Not an easy one though either way.  Ill tell you what though, if RPI gets the pool C over IC, I suspect you see all d3 teams playing cupcakes for their non-league games from here on out.

I don't think they get more than the winner.. Lyco lost to King's today, so I think that would take them out of consideration. Right?

I just hope upon hope that the selection committee picks 8 east teams, not seven and then dooms us (again) by sticking MUC in there.

I would like to congratulate the Hobart Statesmen for their great win today. What a game to listen to! I wish I had been there but it was great to see Connelly and the Dutch get a nice win (even if it was over MMA). This is a tough way for Robertson to end his career at 86 field. I congratulate him for passing Dan Cole as the all-time leading passer at RPI, it is a shame for him that this day did not turn out different. I bet he would have traded the record for a win. Yet I must say I am VERY HAPPY that Bart won and barring a loss to Rochester next week (which is possible) RPI will not be seeing the NCAA's. This is where Endicott and Utica kill the engineers.

I think either RPI or Ithaca could represent the East as an 8-seed and Pool C team. RPI at 8-1 with a 3-point loss to a conference champ (if those scenarios play out) or Ithaca 8-2 with a loss to a 10-0 Cortland (if that scenario plays out)

For the IC scenario, St. John Fisher would have to win the AQ.

Jonny Utah

Exactly,

We are going to find out one way or another if RPIs schedule is going to hurt them.

I don't know.  I mean that, I don't know.  The NCAA selects teams using the selection criteria, which are the same criteria used for the regional rankings.

Last week, Hobart was ranked no. 7, right behind 'Wick, both with one loss, although 'Wick's loss was to ranked IC.  Now Hartwick has a second loss, so I'm not sure why RPI, with a loss to ranked Hobart, doesn't take over Hobart's ranking, and Hobart moves up to no. 5, behind Montclair St.  Rowan drops out with two losses.

Maybe the new rankings could look like this:

East Region
1. Cortland St   9-0 9-0  Pool A
2. Ithaca          7-1 8-1  Pool C
3. Montclair St  8-1 8-1  Pool C
4. Hobart         7-1 7-1  Pool A
5. RPI              7-1 7-1  Pool C
6. Plymouth St  8-1 9-1  Pool A
7. Husson         7-0 7-2  Pool B/C
8. Curry           8-1 9-1  Pool C
9. Rowan         7-2 7-2  Pool C
10. SJF            6-1/6-3  Pool A  (/Hartwick 6-2 6-2/Albright  7-2 7-2/ ??? )

That is a crowded field for Pool C teams, no doubt.  I still see Ithaca needing a Cortaca win for a Pool C bid.  RPI will sure enough be rooting for Cortland next Saturday, but that doesn't bode well for the no. 8 seed in the East, although I think that most East Region playoff teams can compete pretty well with Muhlenberg, if the Mules are moved in as a top seed.

(Update:  I updated the Curry, Plymouth St., and Husson records--some of those hyperlinks hadn't been updated.)

Your Win/Loss records are all messed up -- Like Curry is 9-1/9-1 by my count.

As usual, RPI is who we thought they were.  They are the same team every year.  Can't win the big game, and not because they aren't good enough.  They dominated the game today.

JU asked, if they scheduled Cortland and lost, they'd have no shot at Pool C...correct, but 1, we'd know how good they were before today, and with that game under their belt, they may have won today.

Instead, we are back to where we are every year.  If anyone who watched that game today has any doubt of who SHOULD have won, you are crazy.  All the respect in the world to Hobart.  They seem to find a way to win just about every year.  Kudos to their coaching staff.  Even when the they aren't nearly as good talent wise, they put a better effort in and win the game.

However, if I have 1 piece of advice for Hobart for the playoffs...stick with that QB who played the second half.  That kid can play ball.

Rumor is Savlasi broke his collarbone supposedly.
