Intersting information about D3'ers at the D1 XC race from the T&F News discussion board.

Arnie Schraeder (W-Stevens Point) was 11th in 1986; 45 seconds behind the winner Aaron Ramirez (Arizona). Joe Falcon (Arkansas) was leading before tripping over a water sprinkler.

In 1978, Dan Henderson (Wheaton, IL) won the D3 XC meet on a Saturday in Rock Island, IL and then placed 10th on Monday at the D1 meet in WI, less than 20 seconds behind champion Alberto Salazar. The top-10 included two future Olympic medalists and three future US Olympians.

Rudy Chapa, Jim Spivey, Billy McChesney and Henry Rono finished out of the top-10.

Henderson is the only D3 runner to finish in the top-10 at the D1 meet. He ran 13:23 (5k) and  28:02 (10k) before retiring.

In strict terms that's true, although back in the day before there was a Div. III note these finishes (not necessarily an all-inclusive list):

1950 -- David Allison (Wooster) 3rd (5th in '51)
1953 -- Kikuyo Moryia (Wheaton, IL) 5th
1966 -- Ambrose Burfoot (Wesleyan) 6th (6th again in '67)
-- Bob Fitts (Cortland State) 9th

actually yuot was 6th place finisher, there is a person listed in the results with a chip time of 1:59 which is throwing everything off

So I was just wondering what type of mileage everyone does or did, and what program they ran for. Also if possible compare to your weekly mileage in high school.

Calvin College, Leer head Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country class

Calvin College was the class of Division III cross country last fall, winning the NCAA men's team championship by a large margin.

The Knights excelled in class, too, compiling a cumulative team grade point average for 3.430. By meeting both challenges, Calvin is the 2006 NCAA Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country Team of the Year.

The All-Academic Men's Cross Country Team of the Year is awarded to the highest-finishing school at the NCAA Division III Championships that meets All-Academic team qualifications (a minimum 3.1 cumulative GPA).

Pomona-Pitzer senior Will Leer, a senior majoring in mathematics, is the Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year. The announcements were made Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The All-Academic Athlete of the Year is awarded to the highest finisher at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships who meets the minimum qualifications for All-Academic individual honors (3.5 cumulative GPA).

Leer, the seventh-place finisher at the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships in West Chester, Ohio, has a 3.527 GPA.

Calvin won the NCAA men's team championship with 37 points, far in front of runner-up New York University (92 points). Calvin had three runners earn All-Academic individual honors – Erik VanKampen, Harrison Jorritsma and Jon Gries.

To be honored as an All-Academic Cross Country Team, Division III schools needed a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.1. Eighty-six men's teams earned All-Academic Team honors.

Eastern Mennonite University had a cumulative team GPA of 3.910.

To earn Division III All-Academic individual honors, runners had to maintain a cumulative GPA of at 3.5 or higher. A total of 108 student-athletes earned Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country honors.

Saint John's University (Minnesota), Luther College and Brandeis University each had four runners earn All-Academic individual honors.

Middlebury College is the NCAA Division III All-Academic Women's Cross Country Team of the Year. Willamette University's Sarah Zerzan is the Division III All-Academic Women's Athlete of the Year.

Props to all the Academic All Americans....

Anyway I was just wondering what everyone here does for mileage during their summer base training, either their average or peek (but please clarify) also compare this to your high school training.
