Hey everyone, I figured this would be a good place to post a little plug. Every monday I write an article called What's to see in D3 on Flotrack.org . If you are interested in D3 running, you may want to give it a glance, as I recap the previous weekend's action and show a bit of its impact on the field of 32 for nationals.

AF4

not a lot of traffic here...and i have only a very limited idea what cross country is... one look at me, and anyone would instantly know i am not a runner ;D

but from the Huntingdon web site:

November 1, 2008
Huntingdon Men's Cross Country Team Puts Exclamation Point on Inaugural Season With GSAC Championship; Lady Hawks Finish Second at GSAC Meet
MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Huntingdon men's cross country team capped its inaugural season by winning the Great South Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on Saturday afternoon, while the Lady Hawks finished second on the women's side.

"I am so proud of these young men and women," head coach Nate Rucker said. "Our goal at the beginning of the season was to compete for a conference championship and I felt like both teams had a great opportunity to do that. The guys were able to come out on top, but our women ran just as well. These student-athletes have set a very high standard for the future of Huntingdon cross country."

The Hawks finished with 25 points, finishing five points ahead of runner-up Maryville. Huntingdon placed three runners in the top five, as senior Sean Sinclair finished second, junior Kent Hagan finished third and freshman Jeff Jenkins finished fifth.

Sinclair, who finished behind only Piedmont's Michael Fidero, recorded a time 29:41 on the 8K track. Hagan posted a time of 30:13, while Jenkins finished with a time of 31:09.

Freshman Evan Massey finished 11th with a time of 32:42, while junior Hall Copeland rounded out the scoring with a time of 33:58.

On the women's side, freshman Caitlin McMahon was the overall winner of the meet, recording a time of 26:31 on the 6K course. Freshman Sheaney Marshall and Jackie Daniels also finished in the top-five, finishing third and fourth, respectively, with times of 27:11 and 27:18.

Sophomore Kylie Piercy recorded a time of 30:43 and finished 18th, while junior Kelly Frazier finished 22nd with a time of 31:06.

Also running for the Lady Hawks were junior April Morrow and senior Kim Butler, who finished with times of 32:38 and 36:57, respectively.

Maryville captured the women's team title with 45 points, while Huntingdon finished three points behind with 48. Spelman rounded out the top-three with 86 points.

UW Oshkosh's Vercauteren and Zupanc both set to retire (... in January)

Annoying how the article omits Ebel's track role. Also could have been two stories or just written better. It doesn't say when they'll retire until the eighth paragraph. Interesting choice.

Anybody have any ideas on good D II or DIII colleges with cross country programs in the Great Lakes, Mid Atlantic or Northeast.  Starting a college search with our younger kid....

Like to hear some recommendations....

Just announced at the North Central football playoff game that NCC just won another cross country national championship at the national meet in Wisconsin.

SUMMIT!!!!!

congrats to St Thomas' Ben Sathre on winning the individual champiionship!  He is just th second UST runner to win the title and the 2nd MIAC runner to ever win it (Carleton had a 2-time winner in the 1970 when it was not an MIAC member)
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.
