Note to the E&H faithfull, myself and many others in the USA South are pulling for your team to beat NCWC this week. NCWC was picked to finish at the top of the conference but if E&H can deal them the 3rd loss in a row, that would be a huge hurdle for them to have to get over and get back on top.

Who has NCWC lost to so far?  Please note I tend to be a bit myopic and pay attention to only the ODAC boards. . .  :D

This board is dead to be 2 weeks into the season. I am disappointed that the Guilford faithfull isn't knocking down the door to say how bad they are going to kill Averett this week.

(just trying to start some discussion on football) It doesn't really have to be about Guilford/Averett. Hell, where is the W&L faithful and the Emory & Henry guys. E&H look like they may have it this year.

I would guess the two reasons the Bridgewater faithful are quiet this year:

1) Last year -- We're being more careful.  We talked lots of junk on here, and then finished 8-2 and no playoffs.

2) This -- 440 posts since April, with 315 registered users.

As far as other programs, who knows.  I am a bit surprised E&H folks aren't on here expounding this;

Is it because they're bigger and stronger? ((<< Monty quote))  Could it be the 7,000+ people that flock to their home games? ((<< a joke, but not really)) Or maybe because they're bigger and stronger? :)

     1) I hear the violin section warming up!!  :D  Amazing how soon some Eagle faithful forget BC football in the old days. You were 8 and freakin 2 last year for Pete's sake!!  ::)
We had the dicussion earlier (on another topic) about expectations. It hasn't been too many years since a 6 and 4 record would have been real peachy at BC. Another 8 and 2 season and no playoffs, then I say get rid of that Clark bum!!  :D
     2) Not sure about all the other schools either but #2 might be the main culprit for the BC folk. You are just going to have to shut it down.  ;)

Snakehandler

Speaking for myself. My posts tend to be too mean-spirited. I've tried to mello out.  And thus less posting. But if I should happen to come off my medicine......well then....

I think that another reason is that the non-conference foes of the ODAC have not been very sucessful this season.  With hardly anyone for our posts to be directed to there isn't much banter.  I have a feeling the banter will heat up when we get into the ODAC schedule.

e h dad

It may be E&H's year...............MAYBE! I'm going to tread lightlly and take a wait and see attitude. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!

Has far as being bigger and stronger.....it takes more than that.
I've never seen a weight bench on the 50 yd line.

Good luck to Monty, coaches, and team this weekend.

Peace!

Agreed.  Good points. ;)

I enjoy banter, and will happily take heat for my Jackets. 8)

Can't wait for a home game to finally see the Jackets play on Saturday.  Could be looking at 3-0 for the 1st time in a long time. *Knocks on Wood*

Well, "kill" is not a word the Quaker faithful would normally use, but we're thinking about the game.  lol  Also, keep in mind that of the three official games played between Guilford and Averett ('04 & '06 in Danville and '05 in Greensboro), the Cougars have won all three.  Let's just say I think GC may have a stronger team this year, but I won't start celebrating unless the scoreboard says 0:00 and the home score is larger than the visitor score around 10 pm on Saturday night.  :)

If you're at the game, look me up!  Peace

You are correct, Allsky, it's all about expections.  Don't think for a moment that the BC faithful have forgotten how bad it used to be.  But now that we have tasted the Boone's Farm, we want to keep our expections high.  Is 8-2 a good season?  Absolutely.  Is an 8-2 season good enough to keep you among the nation's elite D3 teams?  Absolutely not.  Do any of you think that Coach Clark was satisfied with last year's record?  I would be disappointed if he was.  His drive to keep Bridgewater at a high competitive level is what we all want.  Personally, I expect the Eagles to make the playoffs and go deep into the playoffs...every year.  I am going to enjoy this ride for as long as it lasts, because after Coach Clark leaves, we may or may not be a competitive team.  BC could build upon what he has done, and take it back to another Stagg Bowl, or BC could go back to the doldrums of Division III hell.  And, yes, I know we were in the cellar for a prolonged time.

I love the energy and competitiveness President Stone and Coach Clark have brought to Bridgewater.  Football was not important to the previous administration.  It is to this one.  How many D3 Presidents are in the stands at visiting football games?  Dr. Stone was at Shenandoah on Saturday night representing BC well.

Sorry to ramble, but my point is that I never take anything in football for granted.  Do we expect to win?  Yes.  Will Bridgewater football always be this good?  Probably not.  Will life go on if we suck?  Yep, 'cause its division 3, and its only a game; for us and the student-athletes.

This sounds more like one of Hasanova's posts than mine.  Where did this crap come from?

Hey 'Nova,

You are correct about the scoreboard reading 0:00, especially at Jopson Field. ;D

Looking forward to seeing you on Oct 13.  Just keep your QB at home, please.
