Why is Shenandoah wanting to join the ODAC rather than the CAC?  The article doesn't address that question, but it's worth noting that the distance to CAC colleges would be less for Shenandoah than the distance to ODAC colleges.

One of the reasons that SU cited in the artical for joining the ODAC was that it would provide a conference for all of their varsity sports.  I don't know if the CAC sponsors all of the sports that SU is trying to find a conference for.  For instance, CAC does not sponcor football.  Catholic, a CAC team is an ODAC affiliate in that sport.

What is the consensus? Would you rather have another conference game or keep the non-conference opponent?

Llamaguy, cheer for me down in Lagrange!!  I have been there and it's so far away that I don't think I'll ever go again.  They have a beautiful baseball field, so I imagine their football field will be nice as well.  Just hope we take care of business.  I don't understand why the guys aren't leaving after class on Thursday evening, so they could get down in time to practice and relax a bit on Friday evening.  It's a good 10-11 hours away.  If we can afford a 3.2 million $ horse farm, we should be able to spring for 2 nights at a motel.  But oh well . . .  I hear that BC played very well on Saturday.  I had Denise Copeland on speed dial all the time during the tailgate at Linfield.  It was great going into the Linfield / Hardin-Simmons game knowing that my team had already won their game.  Did Patrick Smoot get to play any?  I enjoyed watching the game in Oregon.  Their reserved seating (we were on the 50 yd line) is under roof, which is wonderful!!  But it is a lot smaller than our bleachers.  They do have bleachers also near and behind the endzones as well and perhaps about the same as we do on the opposing side!  I think Linfield will be getting better as the season goes along.  They looked very good to me.  Some missed opportunities.  HSU made a bunch of points but didn't look nearly as good, but I will say that it took until the 4th quarter before anybody touched their quarterback for a sack.    It was a fantastic experience,  the tailgaters were great.  I gave Mr. & Mrs Coco their Stone Station shirts which they have worn already.  Young Mr. Coco got one to wear as well.   BC is well represented in McMinnville!  Oh and I got on the billboard at Tuxguy's place of business.  Mrs. Coco took a picture of the billboard and me! But it'll be another week before I get to see BC play.  Hopefully I'll be able to hear the game on the radio.  Safe trip!!! :D :D :D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

No Olinemom, the "horse farm" is actually a different budget at BC.

The equestrian investment is another type of investment.

Kinda like Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson in Giant.  Bridgewater invests in a horse farm, and you get the farm that Elizabeth Taylor grew up on and the accompanying 7-figure contributions from appreciate alumnae or their daddies to the farm and proper sporting events for proper young ladies.  (Sure Giant was actually about a Maryland horse farm, but minor details.  Most Virginians would say that Virginia horse farms are just as pretty as Maryland horse farms.)

Conversely, you invest in a horse farm in west Texas, or more specifically Marfa, TX, just in the next county seat over from Alpine, home of Sul Ross State University, and you get the Benedict Ranch, Riata, with your assortment of Jett Rink-like characters.

:D ;)

Early Baby!  Llama and I talked and we'll be coming from his lake house in Charlottesville which is about an hour away.  I'd say between 8 and 9 a.m. ETA.  I'll let him confirm though.  We're playing golf Friday and need some more players.  Allsky?  You in?

     Skoal...I would love to play. Might have to get the rust off my clubs first though. :D I also need to get the rust off my game for a tourn. I plan to play in at HC down in Maryville in Oct.  Unfortunately, I have business in Farmville next Friday. I plan to attend the Fuqua School (my alma mater) / Isle of Wight Academy football game Friday night. It ain't big time HS football but ( barring upsets this week), both teams will be undefeated and it will be a rematch of last years state championship game.  Was going to invite ya'll to come along to the game (and perhaps a beverage afterwards) if you were coming  to town Friday. I am staying at a friends house Friday night in Farmville and plan to be out at H-S early. I will PM you my cell number. If you need anything at all, please call me.
     BTW....The Manor Golf Club (formerly Poplar Hill) is supposed to be a nice course. They still have some landscaping  etc. to do but several people have told me the course itself is really nice. It's located right on the main drag between Farmville and H-S approx. 3 miles from campus.

 As Linda Ronstadt used to say, "Poor, Poor, Pityful Me."   :)

I think she sang, "Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me"

Leave it to a fudgepacker to know how to spell Favre and not "pitiful"......now that is pitiful!  :D

Alright, I gave you your karma point, although I am sure you just dreamed up that part of the story!   ;D

And I know how to spell pitiful, it was a careless oversight.  I am surprised you picked up on it and not Hasanova, our resident editor and spell check monitor.

Trenches, sorry I got on your case about spelling in a post where I had misspelling, too.  Oh God, I hope misspelling has 2 s's or I will have to hear it again.  Anyway, I am giving you a karma point.  Dang, is that punishment enough?  One word spelled wrong, and it cost me two karma points to Viqueen fans.  Man, this is a tough crowd.  I'm still blaming it on Hasanova for raising our grammar standards.  Didn't this board used to be full of P.E. majors and Business majors who never learned how to write or spell?  Ah, the good old days.   :)
GO BC!

Oh, I noticed it, but I'm trying to be a kinder, gentler "resident editor and spell check monitor."  Also, there are so many words and so little time ... they just keep coming and coming and coming.  lol  :)  PS Don't blame me, my undergraduate degrees are in Math and Economics.  My graduate degree is an MBA.  Trust me, I'm no English major!  lol

     The bar just keeps getting lower and lower. Next thing you know this board will be socially promoting like our public schools. If I can't earn All American posting status by earning it, then I don't want it.  :D :D

Two huge ODAC games this weekend;

- Hampden-Sydney (2-1) at Guilford (3-0)
- Randolph-Macon (2-1) at Catholic (3-0)

The last three seasons, five of the six games were won by seven or less;

- 2006: Hampden-Sydney 46, Guilford 43
- 2005: Hampden-Sydney 47, Guilford 45

- 2006: Catholic 14, Randolph-Macon 7
- 2005: Catholic 28, Randolph-Macon 24
- 2004: Randolph-Macon 16, Catholic 13

What are people thinking? H-SC/GC another shootout? R-MC/CUA another defensive battle?

I'll be interested in seeing if H-SC's QB (Warnement) and RB (Simpson) are back.  I checked the game notes, but the two-deep wasn't updated (it still says Sept. 15 vs. King's).

Also, I couldn't believe that H-SC and Guilford literally have the two worst defenses (statistically) in the ODAC:

    Talked with a H-S staff member the other day. I asked why hasn't this been officially made public yet?  I was told because it is under appeal and hasn't been resolved. Whether or not this person has the inside scoop or not I don't know but what on earth else could it possibly be? Unless something has changed, the H-S honor council is completely student run. I did not go to H-S but was always under the impression that it was well run and equitable. So who the heck knows if/when they will be back.  :-\
     As for the GC / HS game...I will be surprised if the H-S O doesn't put up 35-40 points on a questionable Quaker D. The question will be can the H-S D shut down Vogie and Co. enough for the win. I think they will.
     As I posted on the pick ems (and jacketlawyer got a kick out of) believe it or not my heart is kinda with the Jackets...gasp...gasp  :D My head says that CU wins a close one at home.

Looks like it is possible the HSC/GC loser could score 50+ and come down to who has the ball last.
