So where are they getting 1,734?

Uh, 1234 hidden in the expansive pressbox?   ??? ???

Actually, finishing without an ODAC championship but still getting into the playoffs as a Pool C is probably only relevant for the 4 ODAC teams who have no out-of-conference losses (Bridgewater, Catholic, Guilford, and Washington & Lee).

If HSC, RMC, or Emory & Henry loses another game now, their 5-1 ODAC record will have to be good enough for the conference championship, because their overall record will not be better than 8-2.
Please remember that it is only the "in-region" non-conference games that are in the primary criteria.

Catholic vs. Ohio Wesleyan doesn't get considered in primary criteria; nor does Guilford vs. Southern Virginia (NAIA).

E&H's game with Newport News does not count either, so E&H would be only 8-1 in-region.

Google Earth determined that there were 6 family reunions within the given radius.   On at least one car a those gatherings, the camera was able to find a parking decal or bumper sticker that had E&H on it.  :D

Now if this had been the new pressbox at H-S, then it would be a different story. They can get 6,000 in there alone. Matter of fact, I am certain there were 12,000 people at the H-S /BC game last Saturday!!  :D :D

W&L can only go 8-1 as well since they have a 9 game schedule.

If Hampden-Sydney wins 3 of their remaining 4 ODAC games and finishes atop the ODAC at 5-1 (no ODAC team goes undefeated), they will win any 3-way tie-breaker .... as they have gone the longest without an ODAC Championship.

Last ODAC championship:
1) Washington & Lee (2006)
2) Bridgewater (2005)
3) Emory and Henry (2000)
4) Catholic (1999)
5) Guilford / Randolph-Macon (1997)
7) Hampden-Sydney (1987)

Phew, lots of playoff talk for the first week of October.

I just hope my Eagles can be 1-1 in the conference after Oct. 13.

I think both coaching staffs will be heading into this game telling the players it's the first round of the playoffs for both squads.

Isn't the tiebreaker the longest without making the playoffs? How long has the ODAC had the AQ? Did the ODAC champ make the playoffs in 2000 or before? I know the Tigers have not been in the playoffs since 77.

Randolph-Macon hasn't been since 1984.  But I'm just trying to make to 6 wins!! ;D

You're right.  In a 7-team league, you're toast if you start 0-2.

Bridgewater coach Michael Clark took credit for some of those mistakes.
"I didn't have our defensive kids prepared," he said, sitting on plastic poolside patio furniture. "I didn't have them prepared for the pace the game was played at."

Hampden-Sydney (4-1 overall, 2-0 in the ODAC) ran its spread, no-huddle offense, which left the Eagles (4-1, 0-1) scrambling to get the right people in at the right time.

"That ball was being snapped with 18 seconds on the [play] clock," Clark said. "It kept us in our base packages. There were parts of our game plan we couldn't get in because we couldn't get the substitutions in to manage it."

Is Marty doing something new this year? Or isn't it the same no huddle offense he has been running against you since back at his CUA days.

Guilford's never been to the playoffs.  When the Quakers shared the ODAC title in 1991 and 1997, there was no AQ and GC stayed home both years with 8-2, 4-1 records.

I know many of you are interested in the health of our conference schools in all aspects (and not just football!), so here's a look at the number of matriculating Guilford students for this fall:
