What is the problem with my Wasps and the red zone today?  I'm about to have a heart attack.  Doesn't help when your own radio commentators seem to be pulling for Macon...

Btw, does Stone Station have that barbequed crow ready for me after what I said about an anemic Bridgewater offense?

Thank God, Emory scored as I'm writing this.  17-14 Waspers.  Congrats to freshman Darren Richardson on his first career TD.

EHC52,

Llamaguy and company will not serve up your crow until after the game next Saturday.  Like Paul Masson "we will serve no crow before its time."   :)

But I do hope that your description of the Eagles' enemic offense will fire up Misters Highfill, Carter, Copeland, and Olinemom's boys for next week's game.  They looked like their iron count and red blood cells were getting a little better when I saw them yesterday. ;D

I am planning on coming down to E & H on Friday so my daughter can take a look at your campus.  I hope to meet you before the game on Saturday.  It should be a good one.  Any good places to eat?

Oh, and I can't resist this one.  I am a CPA, honest.  In fact, I am at work right now and I should be doing tax returns instead of reading these posts.  Believe it or not, tomorrow is the final due date for tax returns that have been extended.  Always the same people!  Anyway, I will be sure to bring my calculator with me.  Its only 12 digits, so I hope the attendance is not over 999,999,999,999.  Just kidding, I couldn't help myself!

Hasanova and Trenches,

It was nice to see you again, 'Nova, and nice to meet you, Trenches.  For a Viqueens fan, you are alright. :)

Hope your Quakers bounce back, and take it to Washington and Lee next week.  Please put a big dent in the doors of their Daddies' Bimmers, so they are not emotionally recovered in time to play BC the following week.

Seriously, good luck, and hang in there.

can you handle meeting 2 viqueens fans in 1 year? I'm considering a trip to Stone Station on Nov 3.

Kid,

Yes, Frostburg St. is a bad football team for R-MC to lose to.  However, many don't know this, in the 2nd quarter, Macon threw a long TD pass that was called back for illegal man downfields that would have made the game 24-7 going into halftime.

2 days later, the ODAC commissioner called and apologized for the blown call.  There was no penalty on the play.  Who knows what would have happened at this point.

CNWhoooooo,

Yep, I could handle it.  Except that on Nov 3 my family is having an 80th birthday party for my Dad.  I am going to miss the BC-RMC game which could end up being a VERY important game for all the ODAC teams.

I would love to be there, especially if you bring the Eagles as much luck as Trenches did.  Sorry Trenches, I couldn't resist.

CHWhooooo, maybe we can make it another time.  Are you planning on going to the Stagg Bowl?  Hopefully we won't have two purple teams again.  Why God made such an ugly color, I will never understand.   ;D

Happy B-day to your dad!!

Pak,

I'll actually be back in town Wednesday for fall break, so I don't think it would be a problem to stop by Stone Station.  Not really any place to eat in Emory, except for The Deli.  It's school owned and right next door to the bookstore, but it's pretty good.  There are a couple of good places in Abingdon like Alison's (best baked potato soup ever), The Hardware and The Pepper Mill.  Other than that, exit 7 down in Bristol has all the standard fare like Ruby Tuesday's, Logan's, Outback, etc.  So if your daughter picks E&H, does this mean you'll be sporting the blue & gold from here on out? :P  Any idea on what she wants to major in?  I can probably give some decent feedback.

The Tigers defeat W&L today, 45-42, and are now 3-1 in the ODAC, with Catholic and RMC yet to go.  The Tigers play Catholic in D.C. next week and then have a bye and an out-of-conference game before going head-to-head with the Yellow Jackets on November 10 at Macon.

For the Tigers to win the ODAC championship and also the AQ for the NCAAs, two things need to happen:  (1) the Tigers need to win their last 2 ODAC games, and (2) either Bridgewater, W&L, Guilford, or Catholic needs to hand Emory & Henry a 2nd loss.

Only 4 ODAC teams have a chance at going 5-1 or better now:  HSC, Bridgewater, Emory & Henry, and Randolph-Macon.  If the Tigers go 5-1, they could conceivably be in a 3-way tie at 5-1 with RMC and E&H .... and the tie-breaker would go to the Tigers (longest drought).  Alternatively, they could be in a 2-way tie at 5-1 with RMC (tie-breaker to Tigers), a 2-way tie at 5-1 with BC (tie-breaker to Tigers), or a 2-way tie at 5-1 with EHC (tie-breaker to the Wasps).

BC and E&H cannot both end up 5-1: They play at Emory on October 20.
BC and RMC cannot both end up 5-1: They play in Bridgewater on November 3.

Thoughts?

You were good up until the last line.  I think you forgot RMC is 3-0 right now.  BC and RMC could both end up 5-1 IF both teams win out AND BC beats RMC at Jopson on Nov 3rd.  BC would win the tie-breaker if only those two teams were 5-1.  If more than two teams are 5-1, BC would lose the tie-breaker.

You're right.  I think that these are all of the 5-1 tie-breaking scenarios:

Two Way:
HSC and EHC at 5-1:  EHC defeated HSC and wins.
HSC and RMC at 5-1:  HSC defeated RMC and wins.
HSC and BC at 5-1:  HSC defeated BC and wins.
EHC and RMC at 5-1:  RMC defeated EHC and wins.
RMC and BC at 5-1:  BC defeated RMC and wins.

Three Way:
HSC, EHC, and RMC at 5-1:  EHC defeated HSC, HSC defeated RMC, RMC defeated EHC, so HSC gets NCAA bid, as the team with the longest draught.

It all gets back to a few basics:

1. RM is and HSC are in the driver's seat...I think if either team wins out, they win the conference (RMC at 6-0; HSC via the three way tie option).
2. Everyone else needs help.
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

Bwana

Now for a different set of questions...

1. What with the number of 1 loss teams floating around nationally and the high ODAC record against non-conference teams, what are the chances of an ODAC team getting an at-large bid?

2. Speaking from a non-partisan standpoint, what is the season end situation in the ODAC that most likely puts two ODAC teams in the D3 playoffs?

You are tooooo funny Pack-man...gave me a laugh after your Packers beat my Redskins. On the calculator thing, hope it is battery power...not sure there is electricity down in that corner of West Virginia.

Congratulations to the winners today, especially to the Eagles who played a complete game.  Thanks for the hospitality and great food.  Weather was beautiful and so is your campus.

Arguably, Vogelbach's worst day at QB.  One TD (his 100th) and only 85 yards.  He had 4 picks and his back-up at least one.  I know he had a dislocated shoulder or cracked collarbone, but it was not good.  I was also disappointed in his demeanor after Kiesel tossed him out of the game after they had words.  Don't sit on the end of the bench and sulk - support your teammates to the end.  Watkins, number 14, had a respectable game in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Oh, well.  Thanks again to everyone!  The Quakers can still finish 8-2, but the effort will have to be better than today!  Peace

Hi again Hasa...good meeting you and Trenches at Stone Station. I didn't see the Vogelbach/Kiesel Soap Opera on the sidelines...hope they kiss and make up soon.  I was most impressed with your linebacker, #30..a sophomore...real hitter and a strong sense to move to the ball.  Without him the 76 could have been 90. Good luck the rest of the season.

I can speak to the second question Bwana.  Bridgewater is in the best position to obtain an atlarge if they win out. BC's only loss is in conference and they would finish 9-1 if they win out. They could lose a tie-breaker for the bid but would be in good shape for an at-large Pool C. Nationally there is already a bunch of teams with one loss that haven't played their toughest games yet. The South region especially: SCAC (Trinty / Millsaps both with one loss and yet to play each other), ASC (UMHB running away and no others with a real shot at finishing with 1 loss), USAC (CNU with 2 loss already, must win conference, UNCW already w/ a loss and must play CNU), CC (Muhlenburg in control, Dickinson already with loss), PAC (Waynesburg in good shape even with a loss to W&J so that is the  only other conference with a good shot at 2 entrants from the South region).

All that being said, BC has tough games from here on out. E&H & W&L next on the road, then back home for RMC & Catholic. It makes a fun 4 weeks ahead. BC knows their playoffs started as soon as the clock ran out at HSC. The nice thing is if they win out they are probably in the playoffs so no excuses!

Don't forget about (not a conference) ACFC!!!!  ??? But if Wesley beats B-Port this week and then throttles Salisbury next week the ACFC could and would deserve a B as well as a C.... Especially with the way that the non-conference opponents have been winning . (owp, oowp)

85 yards passing and 4 INT?  Give Coach Clark a bye week to prepare the defense and all of the sudden Superman becomes Clark Kent.

But just like Coach Clark said, at this point, one great game just buys you the chance to stay in the hunt for one more week.  Great job this week, but E&H (and RMC) will be even tougher.
