TheEHC52,
What is the visiting tailgate protocol down in Emory? 2 years ago we set-up in the field across from the stadium. As you can remember it rained heavily that entire morning. There was a tent next to the baseball dugout with a DJ and that was about it. Do visiting teams tailgate in that same area normally? Stone Station is planning on arriving around 10am. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Llama,

Construction on campus this year has made tailgaiting a little more difficult.  There won't be any DJ this time as the DJ in question graduated.  If you want to be on the tailgaiting field, I would recommend getting there around 8:30 or 9 based on the two games I've been to this year.  Half the field has been graveled over to use as an alternative parking lot while construction is going on.  Otherwise, you may have to look for alternative tailgaiting spots.  The first two that come to mind are the patch of grass next to the train tracks right by the back entrance to campus or up in the parking lot of Martin-Brock overlooking the field from the scoreboard side.  Any other place is reserved for alumni.  The only other requirements are that alcohol be kept in Solo cups (preferably blue instead of red) and that that QB of yours must be left at home.

Those Methodist schools (R-M included) are trying to take all the fun out of tailgating!! ;D

That's a far cry from Stone Station.  Interesting article though.

?

I would guess, that blue is a E&H color and red is a Bridgewater color.

Thanks for the info 52! I'll rolling as far as Salem in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Plan to sleep a few then hit the road from there to Emory a little later Saturday, like 7am.  ;) Stop by and see us if you get a chance. Its always nice putting a face with a posting name.

Very good article.  It illustrates why I don't take my nieces and nephews to Redskins games anymore. >:(  I'm not trying to pass judgment; I've certainly been a rowdy tailgater before.  But the NFL stuff just goes to an entirely new level.

I was extremely comfortable having them around at the R-M tailgates two weeks ago.  Night and Day difference. 8)

It's a real shame when football fans start acting like soccer fans.  ::)

nice story in ATR about Stone Station.  Looking forward to seeing it first hand Saturday.

The gravel lot on the tailgate field will probably be open if you get there by 7 am Saturday.
