Take away just Vince Young from last year's Texas team.  Are they great?  No.

They did. Vince Young played for the Tennessee Titans last year. :)

I meant last last year of course... ;D

What are the chances Guilford (now 0-3) finishes winless in the conference?

They host Emory & Henry and Randolph-Macon, and travel to Catholic.

Wild to think the conference's preseason No. 3 could go 0-6. And that Vogelbach and Co. have gone 4-2 in '05, 3-3 in '06, and look to go 2-4 (or worse) this season.

Is it simply the lack of defense? Or is also because the ODAC has gotten better top to bottom?

The reason I ask is because I remember hearing Guilford getting so many nice recruiting classes and transfers the last couple years. I'm surprised they haven't been able to get it going like E&H and R-MC have.

Hasa, Trenches, any insight?

Well, I'm disappointed also.  I mean no disrespect to any of the teams in the ODAC, but Guilford has:

- a weaker than normal Defense
- a Quarterback that was injured in Game 5
- arguably, their ODAC schedule is "stacked" with tougher teams early
- to me, Guilford still lacks that "killer" instinct.  Somehow, we historically find a way to lose games we should win.
- at this point, I'm not sure what their final ODAC record will be.  I still think 3-3 is "doable", but I'm definitely not as confident as I was earlier.
- top to bottom, the ODAC is certainly better - look at the overall records!

By the way, how many R-MC fans will be at Guilford on Saturday?  It's homecoming, so come early enough to find a parking spot!

I think the chances of them going 0 fer is pretty high. IMO, the H-S game set the tone for their season. Expectations were high and after taking the L against the Tigers in another shootout (3rd high scoring L in a row to H-S), it had to be discouraging. I'm sure a game most GC faithful feel like they should have won. As I stated in an earlier post, I think the BC loss was devastating to the Quakers. Especially, coming on the heels of the H-S loss. When you go in with such high expectations and (best I can tell) get totaly dismantled, it has to have their confidence hurting right now. Vogelbach getting hurt I'm sure only adds to the frustration. This is where solid team leadership must step up. I wish the Quakers well but am not optimistic for the remainder of their season.  8)

First regional rankings are out...

Interesting that BC is in the south region top 10, but not R-MC or H-SC. I guess their losses (Frostburg and JHU/E&H, respectively) didn't help.

Allsky,
It is all there to see in the South Region Playoff thread. Still a lot to be decided in the next few weeks but if BC goes 9-1 they will have strong consideration for a Pool C, IMO. No guarantees though, 3 tough games left for BC.  ;)

I watched the HSC vs Guilford game. Guilford Defense must improve.
Plus I think Guilford needs to establish a soild running game, Yea a double threat would only make their offense better.
Let's face it, A great offense alone will never cut when it come to winning ODAC titles or so forth.
The perfect example is my HSC Tiger's......Look back to the J.D. Ricca days.
This Kid was a Scoring Machine on Offense......AUTOMATIC TD MACHINE !!!
BUT....HSC had a very bad defense those years. So we never won an ODAC Championship. If we would have had a good  " D "....We run away with the ODAC......No disrespect to BC because they had good teams.
Look at Peyton Manning.....Great offensive team for year's and No S.B.
Last year the " D " showed up and they win the Super Bowl.
This rule applies at any level.
Don't worry.....The Quakers will be fine. They are on the right track !

Tiger....I am as big a H-S fan as there is but I'm not sure the Tigers would have run away with the ODAC. I do agree that had the teams of the last 5 or 6 years played a little more D, they would have a title or two to show for it. This years Tiger team has shown improvement on D but still has some work to do. I have said all year that despite the number of points they are allowing, they are for the most part making plays when they have to. Fortunately for them, they have an O that can put up 40+ a game. They will have to continue to improve to remain a contender in the future. Bottom line....November 10th they will have the opportunity to do what no H-S team has done in 30 years. Go  Tigers!!  8)

I will always defend refs (or anyone else for that matter) against obviously ridiculous allegations.  A 10 second late hit????
