The Stone Station fellas are all classy guys, and I hope to see them all at the Stagg Bowl.  That they were gracious comes as no surprise at all. 8)

And classy women, too, correct?

DOH!!!!!

Of course, the classiest. . . . . . 8)

No, just have to know your superiors. . .  ;D

Many thanks for the text messages on Saturday.  Was feeling a lot like Charlie Brown in the office moping about missing the game.  The scores were a very welcome relief. 8)

DOH!!!  Even Homer would understand.  You're welcome.  I've also had to work some Saturdays (and attend a wedding reception) when I really wanted to be at a game, so I know how you felt.   I wish I could be at the RMC/HSC game, but I think I owe it to some of my buddies on the Guilford team to be there for their Senior Day.  I'll expect a full report from you on THE GAME!

Any word on whre the "Pat & Pat Road Show" is going this coming weekend?  I know the winner of 'The Game" will draw a high seed in the playoffs, and possibly do the one-and-out, but sure would be nice for the D3 world to hear about "The Game" when it really means more than just central Virginia braggin' rights.

Congratulations to Josh Simpson, who has been named the ODAC Player of the Week for the third time this season.  Simpson had 245 total yards of offense, while scoring four touchdowns.

Simpson has now set or tied the ODAC record for rushing touchdowns in a single season (19) and points in a single season (146).  In only his junior season, Simpson set a new ODAC record with 300 career points.

Congratulations to Quaker Markas Brunson for winning the ODAC Defensive POW award for his stellar performance versus the CUA Cardinals.  In addition to his 13 tackles, Markas returned a blocked 18-yard FG attempt 88 yards for a score with a little over a minute to go.  GC was leading 28-27, so instead of a 30-28 CUA lead with a FG, the TD made it 34-27 Quakers!  Finally, with about 20 seconds to go, Brunson forced a CUA fumble at the GC 2 yard line and Danny Langston recovered the ball in the endzone.  What a finish!  Good luck to the Quakers versus E&H on Saturday.

Whats even more impressive is that he has done it in just 6 games.

That's true.  He's averaging 24.3 points/game.

He's extremely impressive, no doubt.  Congrats to him. :)

However, algernon, we've got a stingy defense this year, and we are hoping for a decidedly different outcome at the 113th meeting in Ashland. 8)

Congrats to Guilford for their win at Catholic on Saturday. It was a great game to watch, as both teams made plays back and forth in the second half. Catholic truly blew the game in my opinion, with two mistakes at the goal line. The first was the FG return for a touchdown, which was a great play by the Quakers.

Catholic has less than a foot to go for the TD on 4th down and is down by just a point. Somewhere around 90 seconds to play. CUA is 3-13 on the year with FGs, and the kicker just missed an extra point and had an earlier missed FG in the game. What decision do you make?
I'd rather put the game in the hands of my offensive players to get a yard, than to go with my shaky kicker. I was nervous about the decision before the play, and it backfired badly. Even if Catholic had gone up 2 with that kick, GC would have had plenty of time to kick a field goal of their own. Going for the TD would have been my preference.

Even with the Catholic blunder/great play by Guilford, Catholic had a chance to win the game. Keith Ricca looked great in the 4th quarter, and made a great throw to his TE. It looked like Catholic was set to tie the game up(assuming the kicker hit the PAT), but the ball was fumbled inside the 2 yard line! OUCH!

So Congratulations again to the Quakers, but damn it Catholic certainly helped them out. Vogelbach and Ricca both looked good, with Ricca throwing a few less mistakes. Vogelbach floated some of his deep balls, but was solid everywhere else he went. Guilford's receivers did an excellent job, and I can't remember if they dropped any passes. Despite their poor conference record, they are a much better team than where they have been in the past.

The question is, will the ODAC even consider Simpson for POTY since he was suspended for the first three games?

If not, it's a one man race: Zak Thornton (R-MC).

Even though I'd give more credit to the plays called and offensive line making holes, Thornton took a beating against Bridgewater but got right back up and took it again (and again).

Why has Simpson only played in six games?
