I don't believe so - perhaps as a back-up, but not a starter.   Many former UNC players have been in Super Bowls, but I don't recall one as the starting QB.

How about this - what former UNC player was in the NCAA Final Four (basketball) and the Super Bowl?  One other player can also make this claim - can you name both?

I don't know that one.

Julius Peppers of the Carolina Panthers played against the Patriots in the Super Bowl and played in the Final Four for the Tarheels.  Another current NFL QB also played for his alma mater in the Final Four - I'll let you think about that one some more.  :)

I don't pay that much attention to D-1.  :-\

:D

I can think of one athlete that played in the Rose Bowl and the World Series.

How many can you recall?

I certainly understand your aversion to DI.  lol  The other current NFL player is Donovan McNabb.   In addition to playing QB in the Super Bowl, McNabb was a 2nd-stringer for the Syracuse Orangemen in the Final Four.

Did Kirk Gibson play in the Rose Bowl?  Most of remember him for the Dodgers in the World Series.

Ralph Turner

I don't think so.

One answer to that trivia question is Jackie Jensen who played for the 1952 Yankees and I believe in the Rose Bowl for Cal.

Detouring by wikipedia for the Kirk Gibson reference let me relive the 1988 World Series.  (Gee, there are days that I wish my Dad were still alive!   :'(    :) )

Anyone see the name of Lycoming's new head coach? :)

Thank goodness D3football.com's news post had a photo of him. Eagle fans may have had heart attacks.

LOL! That will be a funny call for the Lyco game in September, "Coach Clark wins close one!" But which coach Clark will it be? Even bigger news is that the Lyco game may be the first BC football game I've missed in 3 years. :o I've been told I'm taking a trip to Cabo San Lucas with someone other than Jessica Simpson that weekend. Hopefully BC doesn't go into a slide so I won't receive the Romo treatment from the Stone Station gang when I get back!  ;D ;D ;D

Bummer :-\

Hard to argue with a trip to Cabo (Jessica Simpson or not), but doesn't the trip coordinator know that there are 42 other weeks to go on vacation ???

Okay, I am doing this from memory...

No trying to figure out if there is a QB from Eureka to go with Ronald Reagan or a QB from Whittier to go with Richard Nixon, or trying to find a QB from Harvard, Yale or West Point.

Naval Academy (Staubach and Carter)
Stanford (Elway and Hoover)

Michigan (Brady and Ford)
Miami University (Roethlisberger and Benjamin Harrison)
Both of you are correct.  You can also add Jim Plunkett for Stanford in addition to Elway.

William Henry Harrison is a Hampden-Sydney alum. Hmmmmm......let me see. Any former Tiger QB's play in the Super Bowl?  :D :D I do know a former Tiger that caught a TD pass from Fran Tarkenton.  ;)

Will the VMI vacancy temp the ODAC coaches again this time around. Mike Clark showed interest two years ago and with .500 record in the odac and losing all of those seniors might be good time to split.

Clark's name was put in the hat by VMI, not by Clark.

Talk on another message board has Coach Clark as a canidate if VMI decides to look outside the current staff. Probably will not make an announcement until after the National signing day in February. Could be interesting.

You mean from "swooping eagle" on FootballScoop.com's message board? Not very reliable.

There is an article in Harrisonburg's Daily News-Record today about Coach Reid leaving VMI. At the end of the article, it says this...

QuoteBridgewater College coach Michael Clark could not be reached for comment Thursday. In 2005, Clark declined an invitation to interview for the VMI job, which eventually went to Reid, citing "family reasons." Clark was an assistant at VMI from 1993-94.

Like I said, VMI wanted Clark two years ago. If he was looking to "move up" in the coaching ranks, he would have showed interest to Division I schools hiring a coordinator or head coaching position after 2001. He didn't. Then I'm sure after he kept winning (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005...), he would have attempted then. He didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be shocked if Clark left Bridgewater for another coaching opportunity. He has been at BC for 13 years now ... that's a long time. But it's almost a blessing that the Eagles haven't won the ODAC title the last two years. It gives him a new challenge.

Kid, you are on top of things as usual. That is where I read about Coach Clark and VMI. Keep us posted if anything develops.

Bridgewater College coach Mike Clark, a former VMI assistant, said Thursday he has talked "informally" with VMI athletic director Donny White about the Keydets' coaching vacancy.(Thursday 15)

Michael Clark, HBC at Bridgewater College, withdrew his name from the candidate list this weekend

must have been in for a candidate for a day or two or until he realized he was not their guy.
