The scuttlebutt around western Pa is that there's good and bad to the celebs on the field.  Montour went out and hired Lou Cerro (took AA Seton-LaSalle to PIAA playoffs several years).  Then, agreed to the ESPN show and along come the celebs.

As far as field turf goes, the latest count is somewhere around 30 of the 130 high school fields have fake grass now.  And that number continues to increase.

In regards to 5000 seat stadiums, there are a good number, but not 50%.  Not close.  5000 bleacher seats is a lot of seats.
Been wrong before.  Will be wrong again.

I'm not bashing BC or even predicting they will fall off I'm just commenting that sometimes being deep is not necessarily enough if you are weak at one or two very key spots. Oklahoma this year and FSU the past couple are good examples because they also are very deep teams with guys willing to wait to play yet they have fallen off without a few missing pieces.

About guys not predicting their own team to lose, I haven't heard one guy from either side of this upcoming game say how their team might lose. Not a knock on anyone just an observation from an "outsider".

I don't wish bad luck or losing on any team only waiting for Clark's first class to be seniors and make some noise while they are learning how to win. Good to see what kind of hard work, recruiting, and commitment you guys think that it takes to get that level because that X2 is going on at Catholic.

Again good luck to every team on Saturday and I hope everyone stays healthy, nanny's get nannied, and gals wearing only hats abound.

Thanks Bob! I read a local article about them getting Coach Cerro who to my knowledge has quite a history in coaching. I also saw where the kids said he would still be there coach first in their minds. I agree it can be a zoo with all the cameras, etc but can you blame them for taking the opportunity? Over 500 schools applied for the shot at the show and the first 2 episodes have been excellently done in my opinion. That being said I agree we have to watch taking HS football to the Nationally televised level, but like it or not, its coming.

As fot the stadiums, thats a good chunk of change. Isn't it @ 750 - 1 million bucks to do field turf these days? Guess that ain't as much cash as it was when I was in HS. ;)

No doubt Coach Clark will turn it around as will Monty at E&H. In a few years this conference should bump up a few rungs on the D3 ladder.

And did you just say "get nannied"? Awesome, party on Garth! ;D ;D

Llama,

I thought they were still bartering with chickens when you were in high school.  I was going to say sheep, but didn't want to get any of the E&H folks too 'excited'.

I am new to the western PA scene and I was amazed at how many stadiums have the artificial turf and huge stands.  It makes me wonder why more high schools down south don't put it in.  Especially when in big city areas some high schools share fields.

I have watched "Bound for Glory" both times it's been on tv.  It sounds great to have a famous person as your coach but the players I have spoken to say that the coaching staff has been arguing and getting through some "disagreements" lately.  It will be interesting to see how or if ESPN shows that part of the journey.   I should be in contact with those players throughout the season, so we'll see how it goes.  You doing anything in that area Outsider?

That's just it, we're not weak at key spots.  In fact, we as good at the "key spots" on offense as any Bridgewater team I've observed to date.  And we've got Frosh and Sophs who also play those "key spots" who are pretty damned good too.  And I didn't say those Frosh and Sophs "will be good in two years" I said they're good now.   You just won't get to see them until the 4th qtr. when the game is out of reach (late 2nd, early 3rd qtr. for CUA fans).

are we doing anything recruiting wise in this area? yes i'd say so. right now we've got a top 10 recruiting class (by the LOI day, currently it's top 5) in the nation, consisting of mostly pittsburgh area commitments. now, am i personally doing anything? other than driving vans and taking recruits to gameday and giving them my opinion on playing close to home, not really. i'm not permitted to recruit off campus yet.
