I don't think we're talkinga bout the same key spot. The key "spot" I'm talking about has one or two guys in every conference who can play it well. If you have 2 or 3 guys who can come in right now and play that spot then you must be ready for a national championship.

Glad to know you take pride in being able to put subs in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarter against Catholic. Man how bad would it suck to eat those words at the end the season?

Who else is going to miss the BC-HSC game?  Man am I bugged.

Not this guy!  Sorry to hear you won't be at the game.  Don't worry.  We'll make up for you not being there.  That means I have to drink an extra 12-pack.  Yeah, I can handle that.....

Stone Station Farmville bound.....ETA 8:30 a.m.  Let's Rock!  Weather:  High Low 70's and mostly sunny.  Can't beat it!

Seriously though:  BC: 48 HSC: 32

I'm gonna go out on a limb an assume you are refering to the QB position? BC's current starter transfered from William & Mary where he sat behind Lang Campbell, the 2004 D1-AA player of the year. As for his backup, Sophomore Jeff Highfill, Top100 VA recruit steps in at 6'2'' 190 to rejuvinate the option game at BC as well as being  a big pocket passer. And to compete with Ricca in year 4 BC recruited a Tallwood HS kid who had offers in D2 and could have walked on at D1-AA schools. He chose BC over those to specifically play the QB position. Sooooooo.. I guess it will be awhile before that key postion is an issue for BC.

Bring on the local Sherriff, cus' the Secret Service still resides at BC! ;)

should have pluralized- i meant spots

specifically im talking about the corners and the qb

Physical talent(main emphasis of evaluation during recruiting of transfers/incoming freshman) don't always translate to being great in these positions, which IMO you need. This where teams who are otherwise very solid can get burned(no pun intended).

They take experience, balls, special skills, ecetera. Guy can run a 4.3 and get toasted every game. Guy can have the best arm in the world and be too dumb to put the ball in the right spots or be the fastest qb in odac with 99 break tackle and cough it up in big spots.

You just never know with these positions and they are the toughest spots to have quality players.

You can hide them with good game plans but great coaches will figure these guys out and torch them.

Not saying that B.C isn't deep in these positions(because i don't know the roster inside out) but I'd be willing to bet that there arent more than 4 extremely reliable cbs, qbs in all the odac combined. If they are all at BC then good for you guys and pencil me in at the Stagg Bowl as a one week only BC fan. If you aren't great at these positions team depth is worth squat, when you play someon who is your physical equal or near it.

These positions take qualities that cannot be taught and you have to be great at them or great at hiding their flaws.

Just my two cents.

coach em up

Wait, explain to me how the "sercret service" is down there at BC when it never leaves being up here?  I mean this is where it belongs.

There were a few recruiting classes where the qb position was an issue (after jenkins left) but then came along Lewis, Highfill and the new freshman.  I think BC is set at that position for quit a while.  I honestly don't think it'll be any time soon when Bridgewater is lacking in the skill positions.

Let me leave you with this,  " GO BC....... YEAH THAT'S MY BC ! "

Soar on Eagles!!

I won't be brave enough to pipe up about the DB positions. That is why the offense scores 40+ a game, just alittle insurance.

As for the Stagg Bowl comments, obviously you have not been to the playoffs for awhile. Getting to the playoffs is one thing, getting to the Stagg is something totally different. I expect just getting out of the South region will be a test this year. UMBC,HSU,W&J,Trinity,Ferrem?/Saliasbury?(although they are QBless atleast for awhile),CNU?. It is safe to say the South region will not be the weakest wing of the playoffs this season.

Lets quantify it as BC is the Prezident of the ODAC then. ;)

about the stagg bowl comment:

That's my point. There has to be a weakness somewhere. Without em I'll see you at the stagg bowl. Otherwise every team is one good game plan, or a couple brain farts away from missing out on the playoffs no matter how good they are.

I follow you about the Staggbowl but lost you with the " a couple brain farts away from missing out on the playoffs".  An ODAC championship assures a trip to the playoffs. That being said, right now brain farts are allowed depending on who you play in the ODAC. Again I reiterate, getting through the ODAC is a whole lot easier than getting through to the Stagg Bowl!

And this isn't meant to degrade any ODAC teams. I may speak loudly for BC, but will be the first to congratulate the team that does beat them and I know it will happen eventually.

I just pulled this cut-and-paste from the latest AFCA D3 Football Polls in which I got the link from www.d3football.com.  HSC is above BC (for now) but BC is listed higher than McDaniel.  Very interesting...

18. Hampden-Sydney 3-0 261 22
19. Hobart 3-0 212 23
20. St. John Fisher 3-1 172 15
21. UW-Stout 3-0 129 --
22. Bridgewater (Va.) 2-1 124 24
23. Coe 3-0 117 --
24. Johns Hopkins 3-0 86 --
25. McDaniel 3-0 84 --

CUAPlayer-

If you guys had ever gotten past the 1st round, you would have noticed that pretty much everybody left are damn good teams.  At that point talent gets neutralized more (because every team has it) and execution and individual matchups (as opposed to the "our team's just a lot better than yours" matchup that is the case 8/10 regular season games) take over.  I never said we have no weaknesses.  Hell, it's pretty obvious where they are right now.  Do we have talent and coaching that could get us to the Stagg Bowl if we execute on offense, improve our play on defense, and get a few breaks that you need to get through a 32-team playoff?  In a word, yes.  Now, I also realize we play a team this weekend that (though they're not as good as we are) is good enough to capitolize if we fail to excute on offense and play crappy defense and then it's all a moot point.

I'm not sure how else to respond to your arguements because they're kind of rambling and hard to follow.  What exactly are you trying to say?

Bud Light Presents "Real Men of HSC"

Today, we salute you, Mr. Constant Collar Putter Upper. You, bedecked in popped collar, teach us that we no longer have to live with a cold back of the neck. Sure, your pink alligator shirt may look feminine to some, but not to the other 17 Tigers wearing the same thing at the bar. Where others may see thoughtless fashion conformity, you preach a higher gospel. You preach of a world where it's okay for a man to go tanning. You ask, "Why can't we wear make-up and use shampoo with lavender essence?" So crack open an ice-cold Bud Light, Mr. Abercrombie & Fitch, because we all know, when we really need a piece of gum, you might have one... in your man purse.

welp, gotta work saturday so i'll be listening to the internet broadcast either here at the office or someone's house. HOPEFULLY bridgewater got their link fixed so i don't have to listen to h-sc announcers complain about every bounce or call that goes bridgewater's way. i wanna hear phipps and lowe homer us all day  :) plus they usually have a few comments when the coaches in the booth get a little excited.....
