Hey, llamaguy, unless you've got to head north right after the BC/AU game, you ought to come on down to Greensboro and watch the GC/GC Soup Bowl with us.  Your game ought to be over before 4 and ours doesn't start until 7 and all it takes to get in is a couple of cans of soup for the Food Bank.   Surely, the ol' Stone Station rig can do the 50 miles down Hwy 29 in 3 hours.  :)

They won the USA South Conference outright last year and won 1st round playoff game. Lost 20+ seniors and the head coach left. They are still picked to finish high in the conference this year. But we will have to wait and see. Averett shared the conference championship 2 years ago, however they lost 25 seniors and went to 0-10 last year. Not saying NCWC is stacked or not stacked like Averett but seems to me losing that many seniors would have a serious impact on your team, especially when losing the head coach as well. I was hoping HSC would be good this year but after reading the chatter on USA South about how they played against CNU in a scrimage last week, who knows. Good luck.

That would be in front of a TV in your livingroom if you live on the East coast this weekend. :D :D :D
Menu will consist of "Low country boil" and the fixin's. Plenty of Old Bay as usual. Trek on over to Danville, but bring your rain coat, just in case!  ;)

Thanks for your response. I think HSC will be OK this year. I don't place much stock into a srimmage. Coaches hold key players out for obvious reason and there is little/no emotion involved pkus I think CNU is going to be really good this year !!!

Good luck to all this weekend and lets hope the rains don't ruin every game.

Hasa: Can Guilford throw the ball in the rain ????

Yeah, I think so since a lot of their passing game is short stuff.  Vogelbach can "air it out", of course, but a lot of his passing totals are YAC.  If the wind is blowing rain 40 mph sideways - then that's a different story.   Guilford's field drains well and it's the first game of the season, so it's in good shape.

The Greensboro News & Record previewed both Guilford and Greensboro in today's (9/4) edition ...  just in time for the Soup(er) Bowl Saturday night.  Even if you're not in town, I think you could read it in their online edition.  As you would expect, they featured Lowe and Vogelbach.

You are a brave man for making the comment about Coaches holding out players during a scrimmage.  I made a similiar comment 2 years ago and dang near got run out of town with tar and feathers. It apparently hit a nerve with some folks.

Good friend of mine at church is a HSC grad and we both had conversation about this years teams. He was excited about HSC having a good team. Hadn't said anything to him about the CNU scrimmage and I won't.

Good luck.

I'd never run you out of town for making that comment. I'm friends with many coaches (some HS some college) and I don't know one that does not protect certain players in the preseason; regardless if it is a scrimmage or intra squad scrimmage. Just common sense to do so with some guys.
I don't know if that actually happened in the HSC vs. CNU suituation; don't really care if it did or not; but I know it happens and if I coached I'd certainly protect key guys. Your body can't take but a certain # of hits; why use those up in preseason ????

Good luck to AC this weekend. I hope they have a better experience in 08 than they did in 07.

Hasa: It doesn't appear that your area is going to be affected by the wind too much and I hope the rain does not ruin a really good rival game. Good luck and stay dry !!!

tfa - Thanks.  I hope you're right.  I've been watching the weather reports carefully.  Good luck to your Tigers and all the ODAC teams this weekend.

With some luck, I hope to be at HSC on the 27th!
