I won't be brave enough to pipe up about the DB positions. That is why the offense scores 40+ a game, just alittle insurance.

As for the Stagg Bowl comments, obviously you have not been to the playoffs for awhile. Getting to the playoffs is one thing, getting to the Stagg is something totally different. I expect just getting out of the South region will be a test this year. UMBC,HSU,W&J,Trinity,Ferrem?/Saliasbury?(although they are QBless atleast for awhile),CNU?. It is safe to say the South region will not be the weakest wing of the playoffs this season.

Couple of brain farts meaning if someone in the secondary screws up coverages on saturday and you lose to hsc then you aren't going to playoffs. To me that is number 1 way the best teams lose. Missed tackles on a wideouts one-on-one and getting beat deep either by mistakes or by getting outrun or whatever other way you can think of.

Not saying thats going to happen, because Washington is a pretty good insurance plan and can't see anyone stopping him this year.

about the stagg bowl comment:

Cardinal guy

Catholic might not have won a playoff game but since we made it to the playoffs twice when only 16 teams could get in, I think we know that the teams left are damn good teams.

miz,

We did get past where the first round starts now when you consider that we were making the playoffs when you had to be undefeated and there were only 16 teams invited. With most years two top 5 teams having to square off in the first round. I.E- that playoff run you take so much pride in would have some interruptions in it.

Terrific try though!.

Back then just beating a weak conference wasn't good enough you had to kill everyone.

However, that was then and this is now. I'm not here to bask in the glow of what I/we accomplished when I was in shape 6 years ago.

For our "debate" now I only have been trying to point out that being deep and having the best all around talent isn't necessarily good enough. You have to be the best at those spots. Anyone who is strong at those spots is probably going straight to the final 4 as long as their coaches don't fuge it up. Everyone else will sweat it out against any of the top 25-30 teams if not some other games as well.

With a rookie qb and a pass D getting lit up by McDaniel and Hanover you have to be afraid of what HSC is going to do to you. It's your dbs against jd and their wideouts in open space for 4 quarters. You are going to have to play extremely well to beat them. One guy can lose it for your whole team and some of those guys are going to be feeling that pressure. If they can't handle then someone else will be celebrating Saturday.

I'm going to have to agree with Llamaguy on this subject.

Bridgewater has been blessed with great coaches, especially three we have now that have been with Bridgewater (together) for the past 8 years: Mike Clark (Head Coach), Bob Colbert (Offensive Coordinator) and Joey Soltis (Wide Receivers & Strength and Conditioning Coach).

All three were there when we went 0-10 in 1998, and have helped build the program to what it is today.  As long as these three are working the Bridgewater sidelines (or in two of their cases, the top of press boxes), the Eagles will always be favored to win the ODAC.

You've got it backwards, it's the other team (JD in particular) that folds under the pressure of this game every year.  And every year this week people just like you forecast the Eagle's demise and the end of our long-standing ODAC dominance.  This game is important, but is just a step like any other in Bridgewater's goal progression thourghout the season.  You see it's about taking care of business, especially when it counts.  And if you hadn't notice the Eagle's have become very good at that.  Marty is left floundering and wondering (deep down, because he'd never actually say this I'm sure) if he can ever win this game.

And you still never actually won a playoff game so you can get all scientific on us if it makes you feel better but that's the fact.  You're starting to sound like and Emory and Henry fan.

Bud Light Presents "Real Men of HSC"

Today, we salute you, Mr. Constant Collar Putter Upper. You, bedecked in popped collar, teach us that we no longer have to live with a cold back of the neck. Sure, your pink alligator shirt may look feminine to some, but not to the other 17 Tigers wearing the same thing at the bar. Where others may see thoughtless fashion conformity, you preach a higher gospel. You preach of a world where it's okay for a man to go tanning. You ask, "Why can't we wear make-up and use shampoo with lavender essence?" So crack open an ice-cold Bud Light, Mr. Abercrombie & Fitch, because we all know, when we really need a piece of gum, you might have one... in your man purse.

I about fell on the floor!  That is rich!!!  Priceless Miz, Priceless!

I can't wait to see the HSC responses.....

Scientific? Stating that you had to be top 6 or 7 in the nation just to make the playoffs in the south region is science. I guess its true what they say about a Bridgewater degree.

Anyway I thought we were talking about this year's teams and not the past? Just admit that any 1st year qb in a big game is a question mark  no matter who he plays for and we can drop it and admit that your dbs are not good.  Its pretty obvious that the rest of the pieces are in place, we don't disagree there.

You respond as if stating the obvious is some kind of disrespect towards bridgewater. Everyone associated with the ODAC can see what Clark and everyone at BC has done and it is remarkable. I say BC has got to overcome their teams weaknesses and you come back with "Catholic has never won a playoff game". Don't point out a B.C weakness cause they'll tell you how many playoff games they've won.

Usually those type of responses stem from not having a real answer to the question being posed. Be proud of your team, but try and be objective. This is a discussion board.

Phew ... miz ... you do understand that if H-SC wins, you (along with Pat Cummings) will be eating beaucoups of crow.  The 10 or so Tiger fans will come out of the woodwork and verbally pummel you two.

Don't you know it's their year?  C'mon, a six-year old monkey ... Ricca, Junes, Dull, Rolander, and Inman are seniors ... it's at Fulton Field ... our defense is suspect ... we have a "first-year" QB ... among other things.

Hmm, am I just doing reverse psychology or am I truly nervous as heck about this game?

i don't understand this 'first year QB' talk. he's a fifth-year senior. he played in some mop-up duty last year. and he's proven that he's calmed down since the mcdaniel game. AND we have a competent backup. besides, whatever 'first year' jitters he may encounter can be nulled by having those horses behind him in the backfield. find me a better 2-3 deep in the backfield in d3. "oh good they took washington out. who's their backup? young? F!!!... oh good they gave it to the fullback this time... wait... there he goes! 6!"
i'm fired up about this game. i'll go nuts listening to it. if i were h-sc, i'd be worried about those red-zone turnovers... as you've found in years past, they may be ok w/ the rest of your schedule, but it won't cut it for this game.
i'm off to jersey, play your asses off eagles. this is your year

Well kid, I'll be here next week too regardless of what happens this weekend.  Hiding "in the woodwork" is not my bag and never will be.

By first-year I believe they mean the first year in which he has started for any team, which is true.  Can't argue that.  What we can say (and I believe) is that he's more than ready for handling a big game like this one.  They're right this is his first year quarterbacking a team, but that doesn't mean he hasn't proven himself through the first four games.

It's a quote from some movie, "you don't have to get all scientific on us".

And I am being objective.  We have more talent, better coaching, and a much better track record in games like this.  All of our previous 1st year qb's have beaten HSC (since we got good).  Every year is "HSC's year" and that doesn't change the result.  So why should I not be confident?
