On a more lackluster note, I'd like to find out what happened in PA to R-M,  Read the account in the paper and on the web site, but I'm still not sure if this was supposed to happen. >:(

Or not?  Maybe it was. ???  I don't know enough about King, apparently. :-\

Good morning, Jacketlawyer.  It was an upset, for sure ... and especially when you consider the 21-point margin.  King's plays in the MAC and only finished 1-9 in '07.  Perhaps the Monarchs have improved a lot and part of it may have been field conditions and weather due to Hanna as it passed over PA, but a real surprise nonetheless.  At any rate, after RMC's great 8-2 season, I think they were clearly the favorite going into this game.  Hopefully, the Yellow Jackets can regroup from what has to be a very disappointing opening game loss.

Thanks Hasa, and it's good to see you for yet another ODAC season, and good luck to your Quakes!! 8)

Yeah, I'm as glad as any YJ fan about last year's season at 8-2, but we need to get on with this season, which is why I haven't been posting too much.  I wanted to wait until everything started.

Not gonna sing "hosanna in the highest," yet.  Yet.  I'll take 8-2 again, but one of the "8" needs to come out of Farmville. ;)

Thanks.  With luck, maybe I can make the ride to Ashland this year ... I've never been to a game there.

I see allsky piped in ... it never stops with the Tigers and the Jackets, does it?  lol  :)

No....it never does stop!! But all in good fun. Hasa...Jacket can have all the W's he wants out of Farmville.....he just can't have any out of Hampden-Sydney!!  :D  Since I grew up at Hampden-Sydney, not Farmville...just one of my quirks. We are all entitled to a few...Right?!?!  ;)

You are, of course, right.  I'm fully aware of the difference between Hampden-Sydney and Farmville. ;)

Hasa, getting Allsky out will depend on whether we can get him away from his kayaks.  There was a sighting of him the other month when we had pizza and beer.

Bwana

I have been eat up with family stuff and only thought of this today, but now that The Kid has chosen to hang out with less recently successful football teams ;-) who is/will be running the ODAC pick 'em contest?
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

If I get that dry suit I'm looking at, I will be paddling year round and may never been seen in public again. Though, I suspect I can be lured out after dark with pizza and beer.  ;) Speaking of, has Waterstone added any more brews to their tap? Wouldn't it be cool if they broadcast D3 games there?!?!  If there weren't so many dams west of Lynchburg on the James, I could paddle almost to the front door of Waterstone. Could it possibly get any better than that? Ok....maybe if the Hooters Girls showed up it could!!  :D

What a day for Josh Simpson of the HSC Tigers, 180+ yards rushing and 150+ receiving.

Josh set a new ODAC Career Rushing Touchdown record of 45 touchdowns (surpassing Emory and Henry's Oliver Jordan).  His 4 total touchdowns give him 56 for his career, adding to the ODAC Career Touchdowns record he set as a junior.

As someone who remembers what Jordan did back in the '90s, this is quite an achievement, so my hat's off to him.  The Tigers are going to be difficult to beat if Simpson continues to put up these kinds of numbers. :P

No question, he is a special player. It makes me very nervous though when one guy means so much to your team. As I previously posted, I hope the Tigers can spread it around a little in the coming weeks.
Sounds like the Generals had a tough week against F&M. Anyone see the game in person? Just curious if anyone had any comments on the new Scott Abell offense.

Haven't seen it, but getting shut out is definitely not good.

E&H has serious issues.  They have a QB that didn't practice all spring b/c of academic troubles and he's also trying to learn a new offense. They do have Hawk back, but Trey Mitchell quite so they don't have him at kicker or DB.  Daniel Barnes transferred to Clemson to try to walk-on.  Gillespie and Assnat graduated and Ringstaff is coming off of ACL surgery, so they don't have a backfield.  Baldwin graduated, Clawson graduated, Worley graduated, McVey is gone and Whitaker too.  Sullivan, Daniels and Furr are the only returners on D.  ANd to top it off, they have 2 first time coordinators.

This year was already going to be a rebuilding year.  The cupboard is dry and I'm sure that moral victory against Sydney makes for a good recruiting  year.  They'll be lucky to win a game.

ace

So if the WASP win anymore games that will be from skill and hard work because they already used up all their luck?

LOL, ace.

BC has been in that position at Ferrum before. It took a 4 down stop from the 1 yardline. Yes it was alot of heart but luck as well.

Personally I doubt much luck was involved in E&H's win last weekend. When they win a few more that will be evident.  ;)
